If you had the choice of all 3 vaccines - which would you go for?

Up until now I had decided not to get the vaccine for various reasons but have now had a change of heart and decided to go ahead

I am in the fortunate position of being local to several drop in clinics so have the choice of all 3

I am female, mid 40s, reasonably healthy, although a bit fat and some healthy conditions

Close relative became quite seriously ill in hospital after AstraZeneca which has put me off that but appreciate this doesn't mean the same will happen to me

Just wondered on opinions please. And if possible for the thread not to turn into a vax/anti vax debate please.

Pfizer. Three of us in this house have had three different vaccines. DH had AZ. Slept for 24 hours with a terrible fever. Was fine with 2nd jab.

DD had Moderna, that wiped her out for a whole day and her arm still hurts three weeks on.

I had Pfizer and didn't really react with either of them.

I didn’t know there was 3 😄 I am 31 so pretty blooming glad I got pfizer. Had my second today! 😃 so relieved.

There are four vaccines available here in Ireland.

I wanted either Pfizer or Moderna and was very happy to be offered Moderna. The reason I wanted either of those is the four week gap we have here between doses.

There's too long a gap with Astra Zeneca and as I'm in my 50s I wanted to get done and dusted asap. Moderna and Pfizer seem to be more effective too.

DH had Pfizer, with no side effects at all. Two of my DC in their 20s will be getting their first dose of Pfizer this week.

Youngest DC had the Janssen/Johnson & Johnson single dose vaccine at a pharmacy yesterday. He opted to do this to get it more quickly and because it's single dose.

OP, if I were you I'd choose Pfizer as I don't know anyone who had any side effects from it, but several who've felt awful after the Moderna second dose, including me.

I had AZ and happy about it, but if I had a choice now, I would have gone for Pfizer, only because it seems to have slightly better efficacy.

All my family have had pfizer varying levels
Of symptoms but mostly just fatigue and headache that lasted a day or two and a sore arm (al fully vaccinated now). Ones has had the Oxford, same as us minimal symptoms and all ok since. Personally I would pick Pfizer

Well it's very anecdotal but my mum and dad both had the Pfizer as did myself and dh non of us had side effects so I would go for pfizer again purely on my very limited experience of the vaccines

Thanks all, I really appreciate the responses. I was edging towards Pfizer so it's been reassuring to read these responses.

My older teen is due theirs this week so I'm thinking I can nip along with him, as I'll be doing the driving anyway.

Moderna is supposed to be an even stronger dose than Pfizer. Wish i had moderna over az

I sort of wanted Moderna to be fancy. Only one person I know had it. Exclusive!

Seriously though I would have taken any of them.

I'm not having any and am holding out for a whole virus vaccine...but, if I was forced to choose from the current available ones, I'd go for Pfizer.

Pfizer BUT I am similar age and round here if you go to a Pfizer clinic they give you Az if you’re over 40.
But there is a clinic near me offering Moderna only so I went there.

Moderna is slightly outperforming Pfizer in the various antibody studies at the moment. I’m early 40s and had it. First dose was a breeze. Sore arm and some transient fatigue. Second dose was different, high grade fever, incredibly painful arm and headache. Took most of a week to feel entirely normal again.

I don’t regret it as I think it’s the pick of the bunch protection wise, although all are question marks with Delta. I’d avoid AZ based on side effect rate and (probable) lower efficacy.

I had Pfizer 4 weeks apart but am now worried that the JCVI are saying efficacy is much better with an 8 week gap. I think AZ will be shown to have the best long term efficacy but would be a bit worried about the risk of a VITT - hopefully they will be able to prevent these in future though.

I'm in Ireland too and was the same as you, preferred either Pfizer or Moderna. Because of my age group I was going to get one of the 2 anyway. I got my first does of moderna at the start of the month and got my app today to get my second dose 26days after the first. Dh got pfizer and got his 2nd dose exactly 28days after the first.

I rate the Janssen vaccine too though, there is a lot to be said for only needing one.
