Track and trace… do you get ‘double pinged?!’

Cloud1220 · 18/07/2021 19:57

Was at a wedding last weekend and the Bride and many other guests have since tested positive. I’m expecting to get ‘pinged’ in the next day or two (and actually isolating as of now since we know we’ve had positive contact) but was just wondering if I’m likely to get multiple ‘pings’ since there will be lots of people reporting positive contact… so the day of the wedding itself we were around positive people and so will get traced through this, but will we then ‘ping’ again through the check in system on the app once the hotel we were staying at is made aware, or will track and trace see we’re already isolating?! I’m just trying to predict how many days needed away from work so they can plan… if I’ll get another ‘ping’ 3/4 days in this is really going to drag on!! (To add, obviously if we start to show symptoms in the household I know we’ll restart the 10 days from then anyway… I’m working on the basis that we’ll all stay Covid free, fingers crossed!!)

*test & trace

dementedma · 18/07/2021 20:02

Delete the app. Get on with your life

NakedAttraction · 18/07/2021 20:03

It’s a week since you saw them. When did they start with symptoms?

Isolation is counted from the day of contact so it won’t make any difference how you are contacted.

jgw1 · 18/07/2021 20:03

I understand that it was announced sometime this morning that isolating is now optional and really depends upon whether you think you are so important the rules don't apply to you and so should be ignored.

@dementedma

Delete the app. Get on with your life
@dementedma seems like the easiest option Grin

@Blueskytoday06 oops, I didn’t even realise! Was track and trace a previous name or has it always been test?

Cloud1220 · 18/07/2021 20:25

@jgw1 fabulous, I do indeed deem myself very important so…

Track and trace is Royal Mail op 😂

That's grand then, do as you please.

sparkles12 · 18/07/2021 20:27

It depends when they got symptoms/tested positive. If none of it was within the 48 hour window of you being at the wedding, you won't count as a contact or get contacted.

jgw1 · 18/07/2021 20:29

@cookiesandcreamm

Track and trace is Royal Mail op 😂
Is it just me who thinks that if Royal Mail were running Test and Trace it would be better organised and cost less?
Cloud1220 · 18/07/2021 20:29

Thanks @NakedAttraction that makes sense. Typo in my OP I’ve just realised, I meant this weekend… we were together the day before yesterday. Left the hotel yesterday (but didn’t see anyone). As far as I know people were asymptomatic on the day itself, and yesterday, loss of smell etc appearing only today.

LOL- I've also been calling it track and trace without knowing.

I'm a cynic so I wonder whether the bride didn't already know she was positive but didn't want to cancel her wedding (I wouldn't either!)

Either way, I'll delete the app and move on with life, I have zero time for this shit, a bit like our MPs it would seem!

Cloud1220 · 18/07/2021 20:32

@cookiesandcreamm I’ve just discovered!! Blush Blush shows how much attention I have paid thus far…

It was when you said

Was track and trace a previous name

That made me laugh 😂

Not the first and certainly not the last!

Cloud1220 · 18/07/2021 20:38

Glad I’m not the only one @chickenbasket Blush

I hadn’t even thought about that but there’s always the chance!!

There’s a fair number of people now impacted… guests obviously plus photographer, videographer, hair and make up artists, singer, venue staff etc … easy to see why weddings have been so restricted!

I must say though that it was a fab day and providing nobody becomes seriously ill, it will make quite the story for years to come!

Surely deleting the app won't help as the bride and other guests will give the OP's name to Test and trace and they will contact her to tell her to isolate? The app might also notify the OP to self isolate if her phone was near the phones of the people who have tested positive and if they also have the app and upload their results. But as the positive people know the OP surely the main notification route will be via the OP's details being given to T&T by the positive people.

Darbs76 · 18/07/2021 20:45

Deleting the app won’t help as your name will be passed on by the bridge and groom and other guests. Please just observe the rules, it’s not convenient no but Covid is no joke. We all have it and it’s grim, even for the double jabbed.

ifonly4 · 18/07/2021 20:46

DD met up with two friends one afternoon and then a separate friend on the same evening. We don't know which one had track and trace but she was notified around 5pm two days later (there were rumours about 4pm they'd all tested positive). She had inside close contact with all three. She had a PCR as was worried in case she'd spread it to others in the meantime and took LFTs but didn't get a positive.

CastawayQueen · 18/07/2021 20:52

Test and trace and the app are two different things.

The app is known to be unreliable and pings for all sorts of stupid reasons. E.g. if you were in a restaurant and someone Covid positive was there after you. If your neighbour has Covid and your phone detects theirs. Self-isolation after a ping is not mandatory.

Test and trace is where someone who has tested positive is texted and phoned to get the details of whom they were in contact with. These people in turn will be contacted and MUST isolate. Or face a fine.

CastawayQueen · 18/07/2021 20:54

Also to add - test and trace isn't accurate if the B&G don't give their guests' names then you won't be contacted.

I don't know if they will. I just got Covid and gave the names of people I'd been in contact with but all of them have negative PCR tests so all I achieved was getting them self-isolating for 10 days for no good reasons... Fingers crossed I won't but if I catch it again I'll be telling them to take PCR's myself without telling Test and Trace...

HalzTangz · 18/07/2021 21:01

Doest the isolation rule change soon, double jabbed no longer isolate.
You could get a PCR test, if negative you don't need to isolate

itsgettingwierd · 18/07/2021 21:02

Isolating is 10 days from the contact.

So whether your pinged day 2/3 or day 9 you'll still get the release date and time as 10 days after the contact.

Remembering you'll only get pinged for people that tested positive 48 hours period after the wedding.

If they tested positive on day 3 you aren't a close contact.

Imnothereforthedrama · 18/07/2021 21:05

I don’t know what you mean if you’d been in contact you isolate for 10 days, you won’t get multiple pings to keep isolating it’ll just be 10 days.

swapsicles · 18/07/2021 21:11

You will have to isolate if called/contacted by test and trace but the app is different.
I was contacted by t and t on thursday and my isolation ends on the 21st however the app wants me to isolate until the 24th, I was pinged as a close contact from dd as she tested positive earlier in the week but we'd already started isolating when she had symptoms so the app isn't accurate at all.
Did wonder if the neighbours got pinged as living in a flat there's several people I live close to although through walls!
