How do you think people will feel if "Freedom" Day doesn't go ahead tomorrow?

YABU - Angry

YANBU- Relieved

YANBU

SexTrainGlue · 18/07/2021 11:57

It's going ahead.

People have realised that it doesnt actually mean 'freedom' in any normal sense of thebword whilst cases are rising so quickly.

And of course for CEV/CV people (especially those for whom thebvaccines may not work so well) it's the exact opposite of freedom

Waxonwaxoff0 · 18/07/2021 11:59

Everyone will feel differently based on their own circumstances.

thankyouforalcohol · 18/07/2021 12:19

They've told people to use their common sense, but I worry about how many people actually have that? I'm CEV and I'm terrified!

Absolutely.
AfternoonToffee · 18/07/2021 12:27

Well that's a bit of a polar choice. I don't feel either of those though.

Backofbeyond50 · 18/07/2021 12:49

Well it will go ahead whatever.

LucilleTheVampireBat · 18/07/2021 12:51

There is no "if". It's going ahead. Nightclubs are opening tonight, after midnight. Most are sold out round here. If it wasn't a Sunday I'd be there!

CeeJay81 · 18/07/2021 12:52

YABU. It will go ahead for a few weeks before they realise they have to bring restrictions back.

Backofbeyond50 · 18/07/2021 12:54

But to answer your question I feel a bit neutral about it all. I have come to the conclusion that we have to take our chances and decide what level of risk we can tolerate. Very difficult for families with CEV members who may not react well to vaccine but still have to with, attention appointments etc

SpringRainbow · 18/07/2021 12:56

I would be neither relieved or angry.

Most people I have spoken to would be relieved.

I don’t really know anyone who is happy about masks going. Which makes me suspect masks will still be around regardless.

Backofbeyond50 · 18/07/2021 12:56

Work and attend appointments etc.

MarshaBradyo · 18/07/2021 12:56

It’s going ahead so maybe reverse question

Noterook · 18/07/2021 12:57

I don't think much is changing aside from nightclubs opening, supermarkets, shops and pubs etc have said here they want masks to be worn- whilst not legally enforceable, I wonder how many people actually got fined etc for not wearing one, probably a small % of people.

MagicSummer · 18/07/2021 12:59

I don't care what people think either way - it is complete madness. Surely people can live without bloody nightclubs - no wonder they have been left to last to open up - so many opportunities for transmission it is frightening.

ineedaholidaynow · 18/07/2021 13:00

Slightly ironic that on Freedom Day our esteemed PM will be isolating!

KylieKoKo · 18/07/2021 13:02

@MagicSummer remember that people and work in nightclubs and need to be able to make a living. It's been an incredibly difficult year for them.

User135644 · 18/07/2021 13:03

Older people (i.e. the bulk of the double jabbed) will remain very cautious and younger unvaccinated people will have Covid parties in nightclubs.

Most people are content with the rules as they are now, while the Delta variant is riding and sensible measures with distancing and masks.

Yes, there's the economic consideration but it'll be worse in the long run if cases get out of hand again.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 18/07/2021 13:08

Relieved

I’d rather we went back to restrictions than rely on personal responsibility given posts such as refusing to test to avoid isolation, not isolating when contacted etc. Those CEV, especially children with no vaccines, won’t have much freedom.

polkadotpixie · 18/07/2021 13:10

It is going ahead but I wouldn't be either really. I'm just getting on with my life now and if I catch it then I catch it...I'll wear a mask on public transport and will still wash my hands regularly and give people space but I'm happy to go to pubs/shops/parties etc, no more living in fear or putting my life on hold

I'll isolate if I'm told to and I've had both jabs, I think that's enough now

KittenKong · 18/07/2021 13:11

Must people call it ‘freedom day’? It’s not flipping VE or VJ Day for goodness sake.

BlueSurfer · 18/07/2021 13:14

It’s going ahead regardless. It’s how people will feel if we go back into another lockdown over winter.

No those vulnerable people won't have much freedom.

And many people don't have any concept of personal or societal responsibility either.

KittenKong · 18/07/2021 13:16

I think there will be another surge - it’s not getting bored of being a virus is it? How long did Spanish flu take before it burned itself out - 2 years?

PurpleDaisies · 18/07/2021 13:17

This is totally moot. There’s no way it will be cancelled now, regardless of whether it’s sensible or not.

I would be relieved but It won’t happen,
