It's a huge gamble. It may or may not pay off, I don't know. All we can do is behave in such a way that fits our perceptions of the risks, and try to retain a sense of proportion about personal risk which is pretty low for the not-elderly-not-ECV vaccinated.
I live in central London and have to work in the office twice a week, and have to use public transport. I think most commuters will continue to follow whatever the rules are, it's been ok up until now. Most employers will continue to be cautious. Most people are vaccinated, the most vulnerable fully vaccinated.
It might be ok. Cases were ways going to rise. Perhaps better now than the autumn.
My parents are very elderly and now feel they must get on with the rest of their lives. My DH is in the group with blood cancer, where there are serious concerns about vaccine efficacy. He WFH for 13 months but is back at work now, as a key worker. He feels this is the right thing to do and that further delay will cause more damage to people, the health service in relation to non-covid conditions, and the economy.
Whatever - it looks like it's going ahead regardless. We'll see if the gamble pays off.
