To just be so sick of it and friend says she's giving my name to test and trace

We walked together outside for about 10 minutes on Monday, when I bumped into her. We were not side by side as kids were with us. Then went separate ways, but she says I will of picked up Covid as she's suddenly tested positive Hmm and she's giving my number to test and trace.

I just think it's all ridiculous, and she's fine btw just got a dry throat. Why even get a test and have to isolate for 10 days for a dry throat? What is the point ? All loads of healthy jabbed people at home isolating incase they get a dry throat.

A close contact is within 48 hours of getting symptoms. If she only started feeling ill yesterday, you're ok

However, it doesn't matter if it's only a sore throat. Whilst Covid may manifest itself that way in her, there are plenty of non-symptomatic people out there, thinking they're fine and spreading it around and those that catch it can feel v I'll or get long Covid.

My dd only got a dry throat too. But her friends were really poorly. She was testing daily for college.

Your friend doesn’t sound like much of a friend if she would give your details to test and trace for that. My friends and I have an agreement to tell each other if we test positive but to not tell T&T as we mainly meet outside and are all double jabbed which means after August we wouldn’t have to isolate anyway but the situation will be the same for us so why the wait until aug? If it’s safe to do daily tests then and for people on the “pilot scheme” now what’s the difference. Also you are not even within the definition of a contact so if she does tell them just tell them when they call you that you aren’t actually a contact and won’t be isolating!

It’s close contact for 15 minutes at a minimum too I thought, although the rules seems to change every 3rd day!

Test and trace ask who you were with on what days and for how long, it’s up to them if they request contact details.

She was sensible testing. What happens if she passed it in to someone vulnerable?

What happens if your name is given to track and trace but you disagree that you were a close contact? Can you argue that you are not?

I am pretty sure friend has to tell track and trace what they ask. But i suspect/hope they won't ask about Monday. And if she tells them 10 mins outdoors surely they won't treat you as a contact?

How would they do that? Surely everyone could dispute that they were a contact and the person on the phone has no way to know who's telling the truth

I assume the rest and trace person asks the positive person for contacts and will verify with positive person where and for how long. Then they will contact the necessary people

It’s absurd that you can be made to stay at home, under threat of a fine, with no way of challenging it even if the other person has misunderstood or even been vindictive and given false information

When did her symptoms start, if yesterday then you are fine.

If someone rings you to tell you to isolate I would say she has got her days wrong and you didn’t see her on Monday.

Can you just ignore the calls? That is if they call at all. They might decide you are not a close contact.

I wouldn't plan on them calling. I was a close contact and friend gave details ( I isolated regardless ) but never heard from t&t even though details were passed on when they tested positive

Test and trace will ask her who she's had close contact with in the last 48 hours, so Monday won't mean anything.

They give you a link to put your contacts in, who then get pinged by test and trace and a code to put into the app to ping those buggers. It's a stupid set up. You could do a big fuck you to anyone you couldn't stand Hmm

Oh I don't have the app. Im not that crazy, but she has my phone number as we did some play dates in the past, although our DC aren't friends now as in different schools.

Hubby and I tested positive on a PCR over a week ago (quite poorly with it too) and T&T have not contacted us. I didn’t think they were still tracing to be honest. We’ve told our close contacts ourselves. Some have gone on to test positive themselves and others haven’t. But not once have we heard from test and trace.
