Good.
@AndytheUnicorn oh come on, I’m not THAT bad. I’m just very pro masks. The only time I’ve glared is when a group of 20 year olds, unmasked surrounded me at the till when I was trying to buy items for my mum who is incontinent. She’s had a large section of bowel removed so if she caught it now, she’d be a gonner.
That's false. Chances of her dying are still low. Especially if vaccinated. You do realize Covid is a relatively non-fatal illness don't you ?

UndercoverToad · 15/07/2021 15:23

@AndytheUnicorn I can see the full picture - and those who are dumping their mask because it interferes with make up or because they put their individualism above the needs of others - suck. Exemption is different.

Bye then!

@UndercoverToad it’s clear you can’t see the full picture from that all of your posts.

AteAllTheBourbons · 15/07/2021 15:26

Do you want masks forever @UndercoverToad and if not, until when?

I'm one of the awful people you're talking about who don't want to wear a mask after the 19th February. If you can tell me when I'd be able to take it off, if not the 19th, given we aren't going to vaccinate children in the short term, I'm all ears.

Wife was in bed with long covid for nearly 9 months so not denying the seriousness of long covid.

AteAllTheBourbons · 15/07/2021 15:27

Not sure where February came from...

UndercoverToad · 15/07/2021 15:28

@MyGardenSanctuary you don’t know her situation. She has stitches that are healing in her bowel, and a reopening would be fatal.

Coughing, diarrhoea could reopen the stitches.

But thanks for your diagnosis of ‘false’ - I’ll tell that to her surgeon who has insisted that she shields where she can.

@AndytheUnicorn no - it’s you.

Thought you were going??

@UndercoverToad I’m sorry to hear this about your mother, it sounds awful. I can’t help but think though, that if Covid hadn’t happened, how you would be coping with this circumstance, as no one would have been wearing masks etc, yet the ability to catch a nasty D&V bug would still have been present?

AndytheUnicorn · 15/07/2021 15:33

@UndercoverToad What’s me? Meh your over opinionated argumentative streak got the better of me Smile

@AteAllTheBourbons I’m sorry to hear about your wife. I hope she is recovering now.

I think they should stay in places where the vulnerable still need to access. So hospitals, clinics, pharmacies - and then shops/public transport.

Except those who are exempt - and people should not be fraudulently using the exemption system.

Infection rates are rocketing at the moment, and it’s not fair on children who are unvaccinated.

Wearing a mask - for the majority - is a simple measure.

I would say stop wearing them when the r rate is less than it is right now.

ilovesooty · 15/07/2021 15:34

@Orf1abc

People simply say they are exempt and that's an end of the conversation with the shop staff then.

The government has had a year to introduce a formal exemption scheme, instead people with disabilities are getting abuse because they're assumed to be covid deniers.

Their failure to make any effort to do so was a gross dereliction of duty.
Whenthedealgoesdown · 15/07/2021 15:35

Waitrose and John Lewis are also recommending that staff and customers wear masks, although a spokesman for the companies says it will ultimately be up to individual judgment.

From the BBC website,

I will use my judgement and not wear one

UndercoverToad · 15/07/2021 15:37

@MyGardenSanctuary oh my goodness - can’t believe I’m having this conversation with you.

It’s her bowel. A ruptured bowel is incredibly serious. ‘An intestinal perforation is a major life-threatening condition with high morbidity and mortality that requires emergency surgery.’

Why wear a mask when we don't need too from Monday . The worlds gone mad

MercyBooth · 15/07/2021 15:45

As soon as anyone points out that you are being a bit controlling and bullying over masks its ...............but my mum.

Im sorry your mum is ill. But i do think its a bit off to use her as a deflection tactic when anyone points out on here that you are being controlling.

Bryonyshcmyony · 15/07/2021 15:46

Why would someone who'd had a bowel operation but was well enough to go to the supermarket be more likely to die from Covid?

Bryonyshcmyony · 15/07/2021 15:47

Sorry - or was it you at risk of getting Covid who would then take it home to her?

UndercoverToad · 15/07/2021 15:47

@MercyBooth that’s not what I am doing at all. Perhaps you should stop gaslighting.

So you reported my comment. Presumably you like to dish it out but not take it. Lol. Drama queen. Mask wearing will be a personal choice from Monday whether pearl clutchers like you disagree or not.....go ahead report this post as well. Lol

I'm not middle class, can't even claim the honour of being working class any more as I'm too disabled to work. I have only had one vaccine so far due to health issues causing delays. I will wear a mask. I'm not asking anyone else to.
Yet I have no doubt I will be treated with disdain by people who like to make keep this issue as divided as possible. And as for trying to keep my social distance from someone else who doesn't want to, how does that work? I'd be very happy for a situation where if I'm wearing a mask people keep their distance and let me do my thing. I doubt this will be the case. 'Get yer mask off yer wuss' is already growing in popularity.
I agree the Government selling it as 'a moral duty' backfired to a large extent. How about we learn to live and let live and try and work out how and where we can compromise rather than looking for where we have to take polarised views.

MercyBooth · 15/07/2021 15:49

@MyGardenSanctuary She does that a lot

Bryonyshcmyony · 15/07/2021 15:49

Sorry - but what has a bowel operation have to do with Covid?

I had an operation last year and apart from being at risk while in actual hospital I didn't feel more at risk once I got home?

UndercoverToad · 15/07/2021 15:51

@MercyBooth perhaps you could link me to Mumsnet terms and conditions that say - no one is allowed to use personal experience to back up their view.

I was responding to a poster who gave a personal experience, so I gave one back.
