Good.

Our local Waitrose is the most paranoid shop I have been in. I can't imagine them abandoning masks.

UndercoverToad · 15/07/2021 15:54

@MercyBooth it’s the exact definition of gaslighting! You are trying to manipulate my account of factual information to make me doubt my view.

@UndercoverToad

I didn’t report her post - wonder who did?

I enjoy reporting your posts @MercyBooth.

I’ve also seen a discussion about you on Reddit. Was quite enlightening!!

What a horrible nasty thing to say.
UndercoverToad · 15/07/2021 16:01

@LivinLaVidaLoki yes because they were being SO lovely to me!

That reference to DARVO is disgusting.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 15/07/2021 16:03

Its the "I’ve also seen a discussion about you on Reddit. Was quite enlightening!!"

Comes across as awful, bullying and quite stalkery tbh.

And the Eon comment....how much time have you spent researching this poster? That is what makes it bullying.

TheDuchessOfBeddington · 15/07/2021 16:05

OP. Hope you don’t think I’m being rude asking but do you have to wear a mask for work? Or just for shopping etc?

If you don’t I think that’s why you can’t see Gardeners point.

Ifitquacks · 15/07/2021 16:22

Wow, stalking posters across forums and bringing it on to a discussion about masks. Vile behaviour.

There are other posters on this thread who have form for stalking.

Are there? Who?

Gotta love Mumsnet 🥴

Mickarooni · 15/07/2021 16:33

@fromdownwest

People seem to wear them as a badge of honour, to show how superior they are. LIke the inane Thursday night clapping.

Vaccines mean we can now move on.

@fromdownwest

The arrogance of people saying “vaccines mean we can move on”. For half a million immunocompromised people, we cannot move on because vaccines don’t fully protect us. I have an immunodeficiency so I will wear a mask, if you think that makes me superior, I have no words. I don’t care what other people choose to do, so why do you need to pass judgement on my choice?

Chillychangchoo · 15/07/2021 16:40

Should being the key word.

I will not be wearing a mask in any shops if it’s not mandatory.

TeddingtonTrashbag · 15/07/2021 16:42

Calm, rational, effective message -well said.
Fangsalot89 · 15/07/2021 16:43

Boggles my mind people are allowed the option. Last I looked Covid was still a thing.

As is your right given the government's deliberate choice to absolve itself of responsibility. It's also the choice of others to continue to wear them, and they should be able to do so without snide comments or judgement.

But the Government did tell us that vaccines would be our only way out of this. The only way of a normal life. They never once told us that once we all had our vaccines that we would still have to wear masks, etc. to protect immunocompromised people. This was never mentioned. Masks for a lot of people are not normal, and those people are allowed a life too.

Chillychangchoo · 15/07/2021 16:49

@TeddingtonTrashbag

Thankyou

@Fangsalot89

I think you’ll find covid is going to be a “thing” for many, many years to come.

@ilovesooty

Agreed, however it’s pretty pointless supermarkets trotting out the “should” line. People will do as they see fit, not just because Tesco’s advises them they “should” do something.

shinynewapple21 · 15/07/2021 16:49

@olivethegreat

Got back earlier from mini Tesco's which is a stop for builders getting lunch and not one of the 20 somethings amongst them was wearing a mask. Older guys were .

Not sure I see the point if the people wearing them are going to be the middle aged and older folk who are all double jabbed and less likely to be night clubbing!

But @olivethegreat older people who have been double vaccinated are still catching it because the delta variant is more transmissible than previous variants . And in some cases they are likely to become quite poorly . And I don't know what you mean by 'older', but for people in their 50s/60s not only are they more vulnerable themselves than a 20+ something , but very often they will have parents or other elderly relatives that they visit in their 80s who are very vulnerable. Hence they still wear masks to keep themselves and others safe.

I do think that places where people have no choice but to go to such as the supermarket, any health appointments and public transport should keep masks, at least in the short term while cases are so high .

That way people who are either vulnerable or anxious are able to safely manage the necessities and entertainment etc can open up for those that want it.

Fangsalot89 · 15/07/2021 16:50

@Chillychangchoo exactly, so mask wearing it should be

fromdownwest · 15/07/2021 16:52

@Mickarooni - If you do not mind what people do, then you will not mind me not wearing a mask.

Did people wear masks during flu season?

Chillychangchoo · 15/07/2021 16:52

@Fangsalot89

What forever? Nar, it will never happen.

Fangsalot89 · 15/07/2021 16:53

@Chillychangchoo Not necessarily forever but citizens shouldn’t be given the option. It should continue to be mandatory

ihatefacemasks · 15/07/2021 16:55

@Bryonyshcmyony

*If you choose not to - and are not exempt - you have no one but yourselves to blame if infections spiral out of control and we are faced with restrictions again. You will be directly contributing to the suffering of others8

what rot

I've had the vaccine, that's my bit done and dusted.

Yep, same here.
