That the restrictions were lifted in time for children not to make it to the end of the school year.

They have had the crappest 17 months, such a massive chunk of their childhood, they deserve at least to not have this level of uncertainty about the last few days of term and their transitions into next year’s class/school. My heart is breaking for them.

And teachers, you’re amazing 💐

For heaven's sake. Why the drama? My son's school is keeping masks for the last few days.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 13/07/2021 16:00

You sound quite dramatic.

DisposableNamechange · 13/07/2021 16:01

Because three more bubbles have burst in the last two days, because my child is being taught by a TA because they’ve run out of teachers, because all the end of term ‘covid-safe’ events that have been planned and looked forward to might not happen, because my DC have been through enough, and because it’s all completely, completely unnecessary.

I am not sure what difference lifting them for the last few days would make. There wouldn’t be time for school to organise fun trips or events. If they had been lifted on June 21st it would be different but that wasn’t to be.

And you sound quite lacking in empathy. 🤷‍♀️

Ah, but Johnson doesn't realise state schools are still going. He thinks everyone broke up last week. They should have at least waited until all schools have finished

I will be mightily pissed off if mine have to isolate next week.

FindingMeno · 13/07/2021 16:04

I cannot understand why masks weren't kept in all school areas till end of year.
The schools here have exploded with cases just in time to see children crying because now they can't go on a long awaited holiday.

SmidgenofaPigeon · 13/07/2021 16:04

No, I just don’t know what difference it would make now not to lift things on the 19th, when surely schools break up so shortly after.

The events are planned. I just don’t think we’re going to make it to them.

I’d have rather they’d kept some restrictions in place, but since they didn’t they needed to remove the 10 day whole-bubble isolation. But they didn’t do that either.

It's not just your children. Most of us are dealing with similar issues.

I mean all the restrictions they already lifted. The 19th is meaningless at this point (as far as primary school kids go).

Does he not have a single state school educated Spad? That would explain it.

Yeah I'm really sad my ds is isolating...he's missing a school trip he was desperate to go on and sports day. I really feel for the year six kids in my DC's school too. They couldn't perform their end of year show and have missed their last week or primary. It's very sad. Then we have to watch thousands of maskless pissed up football fans rampaging through the streets. It makes me sick

This is my issue, we’re now at the point where if your bubble bursts, you’re done for the year.

One of my DC is Y6 so that would be done for the school.

Is he missing the trip on his own or is it off? Not that it matters, he’s still not there. 😥

I think people forget just how much these things mean to children.

Well my DC are at home... with covid. Which they gave to me & DH (both double vaccinated)

DC caught it from someone who apparently had ignored SI rules...

So yes, I get that bubbles bursting is annoying, but getting covid is worse.

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 13/07/2021 16:12

Yea my year 6 ds is isolating.
All planned fun/transitions uncertain or cancelled. It's frustrating isn't it.

I’m not talking about ignoring the rules. If we get told to, kids will isolate.

Sorry you’re ill. 💐

Oh god. That might be worse. At least if my DC aren’t at a thing it’ll be because they’re cancelled.

Is it? My ds was in close contact with a child who was asymptomatic. Before this mass testing in schools, there could have been loads of children with it who didn't know.

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 13/07/2021 16:23

@DisposableNamechange

Hopefully they should get last 3 days in.
