I'm worried but have a tendency to catastrophise about health issues.
Day 2 of symptoms, headache, sneezing, bit of cough / sore throat. Temp spiking at 38 despite taking paracetamol. Is this normal? I had AZ , last one a month ago.

Yes those are normal symptoms, especially for delta.

You’ll probably feel rough for a few days but your double jab will protect you.

Loads of double (even single) jabbed people I know have had it lately, within a week back to normal!

My husband had it 3 weeks ago, symptoms as you described.

StealthPolarBear · 12/07/2021 19:47

Urgh I have all of those apart from the temperature. Was really hoping it was just a cold.
Hope you're feeling better soon op.

Blowitout · 12/07/2021 19:49

I had the same symptoms plus feeling more tired than usual and I lost taste and smell for a week. That was the worst part of it. All symptoms had gone by the end of the 10 day isolation. Hope you feel better quickly!

MythicalBiologicalFennel · 12/07/2021 19:50

I know of two, double-jabbed, both in their 60s:

One had a temperature for a few days (Pfizer)
One had no symptoms at all and only got a test as a close contact of a positive (Az)

I had it back in January. It came in good time. Just before the government changed their algorithm for ecv and I ended up being put there.

The worst thing for my was anxiety. Because at that time I was only clinically vulnerable thanks to diabetes. The second worst symptom was my blood sugar kept dropping (highly likely due to not eating properly). I also lost my appetite, had a weak but persist cough. The lack of appetite lead to weight loss and needing 70% less insulin than normal (I use insulin pump were I can reduce insulin via percentag). But as my body fought the infection my diabetes control returned to normal and I regained the weight.

Bananarice · 12/07/2021 19:58

That was without any vaccination.

teenagetantrums · 12/07/2021 20:03

I know to people who are double jabbed and tested positive in last week. No real symptoms apart from mild cold. Only realised it was covid as we test 3 times a week at work.
We all testing daily now will be interesting to see if any of us get infected. I was in close contact with both of them.

teenagetantrums · 12/07/2021 20:03

Two not to

That must have been very frightening. I realise I'm in a good position, no underlying issues either.

Do you happen to know what vaccination they had? My DS had 1 Pfizer and didn't seem as ill as I feel...

I started symptoms last Monday. The day after a big birthday! Been 3 weeks since second jab. 2 x paracetamol and an antihistamine every 4 hours seems to be helping massively.. Hot drinks are helpful. Cold ones make throat itchy! No senses smell or taste. Holiday shorts fit now so all isn't bad!!

TreaslakeandBack · 12/07/2021 20:09

It was like a cold. Started with scratchy throat and sneezing. Runny nose, then a cough (like throat clearing). Slight temp but not over 38.
Lost smell for 4 days. Tired.
Was back at work the day after isolation ended. Tiredness and cough lasted another week or two.

mahrezzy · 12/07/2021 20:15

Single jab of Pfizer and have had it for 13 days now, just coming out of the worst of it. Had to spend a couple of days in bed as felt so awful. Relentless headache, sore throat, coughing, runny nose, aches and pains, lethargy. Haven’t coughed much today. Caught it from son who caught it at nursery the week before, solo parent so we’ve had a rough couple of weeks.

poshme · 12/07/2021 20:17

Thanks for this thread OP. Im 2 weeks post AZ 2md jab.

I'm on day 4 & feeling pretty rubbish- cough, achy, tired, headache & lost sense of smell which was disconcerting.

Really positive to hear all these stories of feeling better fairly quickly and smell coming back too!

Hoping my lack of appetite for wine will help with a bit of weight loss too!

poshme · 12/07/2021 20:17

@mahrezzy relentless headache here too. Sad

Tatapie · 12/07/2021 20:44

The headache is the worst. Still got my sense of smell so be interesting to see if that stays. I think I was sneezing a couple of days before the throat/ cough started. Then the fever hit, maybe I'm going in strong and will come out quick!

I had all that and no temp and tested negative. It was a cold.
StrangeAddiction · 12/07/2021 20:54

Day 2 for me. I had my second jab in May.
All the "cold" symptoms that have been mentioned are what I've got and in the last hour I noticed my smell and taste have gone.

I'm CV due to being very overweight so I'm a bit worried about being hospitalised but generally just lounging around but not feeling too bad at the minute.

StealthPolarBear · 12/07/2021 20:55

Hoping I get the same.
I still have taste and smell but bought some basil the ohter day and was asking dh why it smelt of mint. In fairness, he agreed.

StealthPolarBear · 13/07/2021 05:25

Positive

ThePinkBush · 13/07/2021 07:55

I am on day 6, unvaccinated and have just felt like I have a cold. I was incredibly anxious at first, very panicky but actually feel ok, just under the weather. No temperature or headache at all, a slight cough and dizziness. My sense of smell and taste is starting to go though.

Tatapie · 13/07/2021 08:02

@StealthPolarBear

Positive
Shame. Take care. I've been treating mine like a bad cold, Lemsip and Olbas oil helping.
