As numbers go up, will you be avoiding public places?

I will certainly be cutting back on visits when numbers rise higher, even though I’ve had it and am double vacinated. I really don’t want to be ill again. It wasn’t pleasant.
At the moment I’m taking the risk but when masks are relaxed and if/when numbers are higher, I’ll be restricting my movements. I know I’m “low risk” but I still don’t want to be ill in bed again.

Anyone else?

@Angel2702

I’m concerned for the kids who have no vaccine to protect them. I don’t want to be in a situation where we spend half the summer isolating and having to keep cancelling plans at the last minute. I really wish they had opened up vaccines for high school age at least. There are not enough adults vaccinated to protect the children.
Are you in the UK? Aren’t about 85% of adults now vaccinated, and most kids with no underlying health conditions aren’t getting seriously ill.

Over the summer school bubbles won’t have to isolate, so how will that effect the summer?

redferrari · 06/07/2021 12:07

Things were very relaxed in India after the first wave and that's how they ended up with the situation in April May. I know the consequences as I personally know many who were really ill in second wave.

Whatalottachocca · 06/07/2021 12:08

I’ll be out and about making up for lost time. I’ve worked throughout this situation and I’m certainly not going to be curbing my social life.

tara66 · 06/07/2021 12:09

Yes but will it make any difference?

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 06/07/2021 12:11

No, but I’ll still be wearing a mask on public transport and anywhere else indoors that’s busy.

But for the last few months we haven’t been over rigorous with rules. From 3 weeks after our first jabs we started seeing Gdcs again - properly, with cuddles, not SD in the front garden. By that stage I’d just had enough, esp. when so many people were blatantly ignoring the rules altogether.

Aposterhasnoname · 06/07/2021 12:11

Nope, I’m fact I’ll be making a point of going to as many crowded places as I can.

TheVampiresWife · 06/07/2021 12:11

No. I can't wait to go to a gig!

kowari · 06/07/2021 12:12

No, I've gone out to work throughout this, had Covid, I'm not worried.

SirSamuelVimes · 06/07/2021 12:13

Nope.

(And I'm only at one dose of the vaccine.)

notalwaysalondoner · 06/07/2021 12:14

Nope. Have you not seen this BBC article? The cases are irrelevant, it's the consequences, which are greatly reduced now.

RuthW · 06/07/2021 12:15

I'm still avoiding public places anyway except work.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 06/07/2021 12:17

No, I have had two jabs and have 3 secondary school children.

I will keep on asking for windows to be opened in cafes and will carry a mask in case I go somewhere crowded or have a sneezing fit.

Tiddleztheelephant · 06/07/2021 12:18

I'll pretty much do what I want, but then I don't actually like busy, crowded places anyway so that should help me a bit.

LawnFever · 06/07/2021 12:18

India doesn’t have the vaccine programme that we have.
PattyPan · 06/07/2021 12:19

Yes, definitely. I’ve only had one jab and cases are really high here. I went to the gym and it was totally unventilated so I didn’t go again!

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 06/07/2021 12:22

Yes and no as I will continue to be Covid alert and moderate my behaviour accordingly as dependent on the fluid situation. I am expecting the usual incompetent and corrupt government u turn and the next Peru Lambda or Indian Delta, Indian Delta Plus wave of living and dying with Covid. Living with Covid is the new dying with Covid as working from home is the current living at work. Pandemic horizon scanning is assisted by vaccination but scuppered by Covidiots.

dilly123 · 06/07/2021 12:23

No! Life has been devoid of pleasure, socialising & seeing smiling faces for too long... time to move on

HighHighHopes · 06/07/2021 12:24

No. I'll be out and about every opportunity I get. Maskless when possible.

We've been constrained too long. It's madness.

LucilleTheVampireBat · 06/07/2021 12:26

No. Not at all.

Dumpypumpy · 06/07/2021 12:28

I will keep my kids away from crowded places because i dont want them to catch it. Once the adults and staff around them are not wearing masks then it’s inevitable that my kids will be exposed to the virus.

deydododatdodontdeydo · 06/07/2021 12:29

No. I have asthma so was put on the shielding list in April 2020.
Was very careful (home delivery, only left the house to walk the dog in a rural area with few people) all summer then caught covid from the kids when they went back to school.
Lost my sense of taste for a few days.
Had vaccinations quite early due to being CV and relaxed a lot after that.
Either vaccines work, or they don't. I believe they do.

SoSadAboutMyDad · 06/07/2021 12:30

Yes! Only outdoor spaces for us over the summer. My family wants no part in this reckless experiment thanks.

Chloemol · 06/07/2021 12:31

Yes, but then I don’t do lots of crowds anyway as they irritate me

I also don’t get comments like @ Remmy123 if vaccinated aged you can get on with life, yes you can to an extent. But just because you are vaccinated won’t stop you getting it or transmitting it and having seen the impact on friends who have had it, including one with long covid now it’s not something I want to get even though I am fully vaccinated

I believe care should still be taken, there are loads still not vaccinated as well

GirlAloud · 06/07/2021 12:32

No.

I’m double jabbed and I trust the vaccines so I see no need to avoid public places. What’s the point of being vaccinated if we don’t get back to living normal lives?

Treezan82 · 06/07/2021 12:34

No - I'm vaccinated and have my 2nd dose in 2 weeks. If I avoid public places when fully vaccinated then when would I stop avoiding them? What are we waiting for?
