Tinnitus

DH had second jab on Saurday morning and a few hours after he mentioned that he has a ringing in one ear. This morning it's not gone away.
Has anyone else had this and if so was it temporary?

Sorry, no help but I have suffered from tinnitus for the last 9 months and am so petrified of the vaccine making it worse that I haven't found the courage to have it yet.

MorningTeas · 05/07/2021 17:39

Yes my dh has had the same, it hasn't gone away.

Maze76 · 05/07/2021 17:43

What vaccine did he have?

ThornAmongstRoses · 05/07/2021 17:49

I’ve always had low level tinnitus but after my first vaccine it got significantly worse and I went to my GP about it who referred me to ENT. I had a hearing test (which showed no hearing loss) and an examination of my ears and nothing abnormal could be detected. It did ease after couple of months but then really flared up again after my second job. I have since had an MRI scan to see if there is a physiological reason for the tinnitus but I’ve not had my results yet.

It’s been about 3 months since my second jab and the tinnitus is definitely easing now. It’s still bad if I’ve had a loud day at work or if I have been surrounded by loud children etc but generally it is much better now compared to how it has been.

I have had moderate-severe tinnitus for over twenty years. I am double vaccinated and the only symptoms I got were a headache for 24 hours, and feeling quite tired for 48 hours. It didn’t affect my tinnitus at all.

I ended up getting tinnitus in my left ear after the first dose of pfizer, luckily it went away after 3 days. Dreading the second dose as it's meant to give you worse side effects..

Theonlyoneiknow · 06/07/2021 18:32

I developed Tinnitus in both ears about 3 days after my first Pfizer dose. 2 months later it is still there.... really concerned my second dose will make it worse. Don't know what to do :(

Pinkpowderpuff · 17/08/2021 09:52

@Theonlyoneiknow Did you have your 2nd vacc?

Gothichouse40 · 17/08/2021 09:59

With tinnutis it's very difficult to tell what makes it worse. The tinnutis for me was worse after the first vaccination, then it eased. I cannot say I noticed a difference to it with the second. My tinnutis is bad at the moment, but I find it's to do with my thyroid problems.

Gothichouse40 · 17/08/2021 10:01

I meant to add, if you feel the vaccine was the cause of your tinnutis, please, please report it to the Yellow Card Scheme. They need to know about all the side-effects.

Not yet.... I keep moving the appointment. Really really struggling with what's best to do. It has now been 3.5 months since my first one.

I have had pulsatile tinnitus for years but it has virtually gone. After second Pfizer jab I had headache for 2 weeks and not I have tinnitus but not pulsatile tinnitus. It is more high pitched whooshing noise.

JS87 · 17/08/2021 13:01

Still got tinnitus 4 months after second Pfizer. The ringing in the ears has calmed down a lot but the electric buzzing in the head comes and goes still although it is a quieter volume than when it started. It’s a symptom of long covid and I think it will probably go eventually. For some people it clears up quickly within a few weeks and for others seems to take longer. There are Facebook support groups if he needs then.

TheCreamCaker · 03/01/2022 14:26

I've had Tinnitus every minute of every day - for 14 years. It's worse when everywhere is quiet (nighttime especially).

foreverlove · 03/01/2022 14:31

I had a Pfizer booster and it immediately triggered/spiked the low level tinnitus I've had for years. Thankfully it only lasted a few hours.

Starrr123 · 03/01/2022 16:35

@foreverlove do you find anu meds make it
Louder ?

Whatdoyawannado · 03/01/2022 17:21

The jabs didn't affect my tinnitus. I was very worried about it as haven't had it for long and scared to make it worse but apparently covid can make it worse anyway so thought I would take the risk with the vaccine rather than Covid!

foreverlove · 03/01/2022 18:47

@Starrr123 it's actually diminished since starting on medication for high blood pressure 18 months ago. Not on any other medication.

Theunamedcat · 03/01/2022 18:52

Astrazennica after the first it flared then eased after the second it didn't leave I wish it would

Theonlyoneiknow · 03/01/2022 19:15

I got tinnitus after my first Pfizer back in April. Hasn't gone away

Starrr123 · 03/01/2022 19:42

@ @Theonlyoneiknow this really worries me 😩😩😩
What was you like after your second ? X

Theonlyoneiknow · 03/01/2022 19:58

I daren't risk making it any worse so haven't had a second jab (I also had some side effects with my periods tho).

Starrr123 · 03/01/2022 20:20

@Theonlyoneiknow this is what worries me :( 3 of my friends have issues with their period! I have coid last year and was feeling sooo ill! So i feel like i should get the jab! But that worries me x
