Covid: Stars perform musical song in latest vaccine push

dO YOUr bIT.

MakE tHis sTOP!!!

Help me now.

Things are getting serious and are getting traumatic.

WHYYYY does anyone think that a bunch of famous people prancing about will change anyone's mind and is anything more than parading your vaccine political beliefs for self publicity?

Quite clearly we have reached the point where its felt that we have to wheel out the celebs to 'connect with the youth' and all that bollocks and demand for vaccine appointments is waning.

Just why the fuck does this have to be done?

It can never be as bad as that Celebs Sing Imagine travesty.

eurochick · 03/07/2021 13:05

Nooooooo.

Come on peeps, roll up your sleeves and make it stop!

AfternoonToffee · 03/07/2021 13:05

I think the same every time an advert comes on the radio, just have the jab and make this stop. Please. Grin

Awww, I like so many of those people that I can’t bring myself to dislike the overall performance or message. Though, from a distance, I did initially mistake Nicola Roberts for Angela Rayner, which made for an interesting couple of confused seconds at the beginning.

Bythemillpond · 03/07/2021 13:07

It only makes me say no.

The more it is pushed the more I want to push back

You can book an eyesight and hearing test still - despite covid.

In all seriousness, I tend to think that pushing it too much with campaigns like this is going to lead to public switch off in the parts of the community it wants to reach.

Its counterproductive and ends up coming across as a bunch of self righteous pricks lecturing unfortunately

In addition to being an affront to high quality culture.

I'm fine with lockdown, enforced by military with a tank outside my front door, vaccine injected straight into my face if necessary. But please please don't make anymore campaigns like this.

donquixotedelamancha · 03/07/2021 13:14

anything more than parading your vaccine political beliefs for self publicity?

Eh? I completely agree about celebrity sing alongs but why are vaccines a political belief?

Probably the blanket ‘everyone should get this’ message instead of, you should consider getting this if you are 30+, here are the relevant stats for your age and health status...

I know the second is too asking too much from
our health authorities tho ....

When you are singing and dancing about it, its about your belief in political terms. This is unfortunately into the realms of culture war where you try and persuade people to do things to be 'cool' and 'in' and 'be like everyone else' rather than having a debate about the merits of the vaccine in boring terms on the basic of ethics, medical science and dispelling misinformation.

Its not something thats happened much in the UK as we've done our awareness based on logic, but this isn't the case in the US where its something which has fallen foul of identity politics in terms of the power of persuasion.

I do find it troubling when stuff like this is dialled up, because I think it actually takes away from having serious conversations and investigating why people aren't vaccinating (there can be some reasons which are fair or people who need reassuring rather than effectly getting into this cultural ostracism or cult of cool).

Its about integrity of messaging rather than making it into a cultural thing - which may inadvertantly alienate.

Oh the humanity!

I’m double jabbed but Walliams alone would have had me camping outside a vaccination centre.

JoveWhenHeSawMyFannysFace · 03/07/2021 13:38

Isn’t the song originally about someone who set up a fake religion and tried to get followers? I’m not entirely sure it’s the best choice for this particular message!

ScrambledSmegs · 03/07/2021 13:40

That makes me want to unvaccinate myself. Get it out of me!

Who even are these "celebs"?

Saucery · 03/07/2021 13:44

I only got as far as “A tap dancing Jim Broadbent…….” before I could feel the 5G enabled microchip try to burrow itself back out of my left arm.

He was in Terry Gilliam’s Brazil ffs. He should know better than this!

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 03/07/2021 13:47

Uniontea · 03/07/2021 13:47

I don’t understand the ‘vaccine political beliefs’ thing either.

We’ve used celebrities in vaccine campaigns for years like Henry Cooper for the flu jab. Theatre, musicals, basically any performing art has been hit very hard by lockdown so it makes sense for performers to be supportive. For every star in a production there are dozens of unknowns who rely on that performance to make a living.
