How quickly are PCR test results coming back?

Haven't had to do one since December but had to take DC for one at 9am today (developed a persistent cough overnight).

Last time round the results were back within 17hrs (tested 2pm, email 9am next morning).

Is it unheard of to get them back same day?

The last couple I've had for DS have been back the same day.

Oh that is great news! We werent prepared so have run out of milk/bread etc today (I was planning on getting them on way back from the school run), and cant decide whether to pay over the odds on Amazon Prime or just hold off til the evening gasps from lack of tea Grin

The kids have loved a bonus day at home though. Swings and roundabouts!

Ethelswith · 02/07/2021 13:43

DD is off school -as contact SI - friend had positive LFT and is having confirmatory PCR, which was sent off yesterday, so it's about 20 hours and still waiting

Tina221 · 02/07/2021 13:52

Ok so probably looking at least at tomorrow. Fair enough I suppose. We haven't had to cancel any plans so lucky in that respect.

I did a drive through test on Tuesday at 10am and the results the following evening at 8pm. My husband went yesterday at 1pm, no results yet.

Hellocatshome · 02/07/2021 15:38

About 24 hrs in our area

TrashPanda · 02/07/2021 15:40

whatsnext2 · 02/07/2021 15:46

Bristol 9am test results yesterday 3am this morning.

Palavah · 02/07/2021 15:49

Depends when the postbox was emptied - i posted one which should have been collected at 9am yesterday morning, not had results back yet. When i did a walk-in test it came back in 22 hours

Landslidelife · 02/07/2021 15:51

Dc2&3 did them 9.30 Wednesday got them 5am Thursday morning.

Hellocatshome · 02/07/2021 16:27

@Palavah can I ask you why you did a postal one when walk in is an option for you? It just seems like a whole lot of faff and more time possibly isolating for no reason. I cant really see the benefit unless you can't get to a drive in or walk in site.

Because I was doing the daily testing study and they sent me the day 1 and day 7 PCRs along with the day 1-7 lateral flow

Palavah · 02/07/2021 16:30

I didn't really think about it - if I had I'd have done a walk-in instead

HelloMissus · 02/07/2021 16:31

I posted DD’s at 3pm in a priority post box and she had her result less than 24 hours later

Unprecedentedusername · 02/07/2021 17:42

48 hours for DD

BadgerFace · 02/07/2021 17:46

About 20 hours for me on Sunday for a walk in pcr and the same for DH on Wednesday.

Tinpotspectator · 03/07/2021 00:28

There were no appointments yesterday at local testing sites so I have booked a postal one which arrives today. Now looks like there are slots so not sure what to do Confused

pitterpatterrain · 03/07/2021 12:51

Got it back today - so roughly 40 hours
