Number of antibodies after your vaccine 1st & 2nd jab

MrsKypp · 01/07/2021 21:20

Hi,

I was given AstraZeneca. I would have preferred an mRNA vaccine, but I'm in the UK so didn't get any choice (other than waiting).

After the first jab my antibodies were 25 U/ml and after the second, 978 U/ml

I did the blood tests on day 33 after each vaccine.

Roche test.

What were your antibody levels and which vaccine and antibody test did you do?

It didn't quote my last quote (italics) - I'll try again:

Test quality:>98.8% sensitivity and >99.98% specificity, CE marked

@StrongLegs

I booked this one:

SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Abbott IgG Antibody
at the doctor's laboratory

Hopefully that's about right.

I've tried to find the one you booked, is it this one? www.tdlpathology.com/covid-19/

If so, AFAIK I think for testing after your vaccine, it would be this out of the 4 they offer:

Roche Elecsys Anti-SARS-CoV-2 S (Spike) – spike protein, quantitative, total antibodies

BUT please don't take my word for it I'm not medically trained and might be wrong. I think there are lots of doctors on MN who can advise a whole load better than I can Smile

@MrsKypp thanks, yes, my GP's brilliant. He said I should hang on a bit and think again in August about having a second one, once I've had time to gather myself a bit, and when more data is available. I'm just organising my antibody test now too which should help.

StrongLegs · 05/07/2021 13:14

@MrsKypp I wrote to the doctor's laboratory. Maybe they will know. Thanks!

Saidtoomuch · 05/07/2021 14:34

You mean testing negative for Covid-19 or negative for antibodies following your vaccines? If you mean to Covid, then fingers crossed your vaccines are protecting you
Yes, negative for the virus. We're doing lateral flows and went for a PCR, but so far negative.

MiniMaxi · 05/07/2021 23:32

Placemarking as planning to get mine done when I get the chance and would like to compare!

Jaz12 · 06/07/2021 09:43

I have this test arriving today after reading your post so it will be interesting to compare!

StrongLegs · 06/07/2021 09:47

I just looked and I think it's definitely this test we want:

Roche Elecsys
Anti-SARS-CoV-2 S
(Spike) Total antibody

The explanation is here:

lazymum99 · 06/07/2021 16:47

That’s the one i have just used and posted. Currently have a plaster on each middle finger and managed to get blood all over my kitchen table!!

Dumpypumpy · 06/07/2021 17:20

I bought mine from Lloyds pharmacy. I posted it off today,. Should get results in next couple of days. I am so hoping i have a good antibody level. I will be obsessively checking my emails tomorrow!!

Dumpypumpy · 07/07/2021 09:01

@MrsKypp just got my antibody level results of 530 , i am 5 weeks post second az jab and i was quite ill from my first az jab. I am happy that i have antibodies, though i kinda wish level was higher but fingers crossed its enough to keep me from being really ill. I will repeat test in 3 months. I am in my 40s. No health concerns but vulnerable family members.
I hope i get a mRNA booster this winter. I might ask husband to do a test as he had mRNA vaccine.

lazymum99 · 08/07/2021 10:19

Got the result of my test. It has gone up to 336U/ml. Not brilliant but at lease some response. 2 months after 2nd AZ jab.
This test has a range of 0-2500
I am on medication which compromises my immunity for an auto immune condition.
Of course I don’t know what level I would need and how the T cells work

RocioMartinez · 12/07/2021 12:46

I think I'm in the same monthly study as @MrsFezziwig.

I didn't register any antibody response until the second monthly test after my second AZ jab - so I didn't register any antibodies until about six weeks after my second vaccine dose. I have to say I was getting a bit worried but feeling better about it now.

SoOvethis · 12/07/2021 20:53

I have had that same antibody test a few weeks ago and had 725 U/ml without any vaccines. Had covid in March 2020 so that was my antibody levels 15 months after!

Namechangefail83 · 12/07/2021 21:06

I’m 6 weeks on from my second AZ and have just under 500 u/ml. I tested negative for antibodies from infection at the same time. A bit worried my level should be higher given my age and health (40, good).

ittakes2 · 13/07/2021 09:40

posting marking helpful thread thank you

TulipVictory · 13/07/2021 09:47

Does anyone have the link to where I can order one from please ?

MikeHat · 13/07/2021 12:19

I'm on a study with UCL. I do monthly antibody tests and I am immunosuppressed. I wasn't selected for the study I saw something online and applied to go on it.
6 weeks after my first AZ i had no antibodies. 4 weeks later I was positive for Spike (vaccine) antibodies. I have no idea how many but I'm relieved and grateful to have some!

Lemonmelonsun · 13/07/2021 12:21

Op can you distill your results please, are they good? Do you have good anti body protection?

Lemonmelonsun · 13/07/2021 12:22

Mike hat, so it took 10 weeks for you to get antibodies?

Lowlifeinhighplaces · 13/07/2021 12:57

I too am doing the monthly trial and have been since last year. My first bloods showed no A/B, then had my 2nd AZ jab, next bloods came back high level of A/B, then the 3rd one.

Any left over blood is used for other testing which I have signed up for, I am a good 'bleeder' and takes less then 5 mins to do both the PCR test and the bloods. Takes more time setting up all the bags/swabs etc!

StrongLegs · 14/07/2021 21:58

I just got my test results back. I got 182 U/mL

I ordered the test from here: www.tdlpathology.com/tests/tests-a-z/tests-c/covid-19-sars-cov-2-roche-elecsys-anti-sars-cov-2-s-spike/

My history is that I had long covid last March (2020) and have had my first AZ vaccine 10 weeks ago.

I had a very difficult reaction to it, which is still going on, so I'm nervous about having a second one. I do always react badly to everything so it was not a huge surprise.

I wonder if 182 is enough? I really have no idea.

amicissimma · 17/07/2021 21:14

It's really hard to find what's considered 'good', but I did find that the NHS likes over 62U/ml for plasma donations for treatment, (www.jenhamsclinic.co.uk/other-services/coronavirus-covid-19-antibody-test) so I assume that anything higher would be good news.

MrsKypp · 21/07/2021 11:49

Fingers crossed it stays negative for the virus for you.
