Fingers crossed!!!

Geamhradh · 29/06/2021 11:17

Fingers crossed.

I can't see that all restrictions will be lifted. I really don't understand what the government are trying to do. I guess we will find out. I don't think overseas travel is going to happen much this summer though, rising cases will make sure of that.

CottageGardener · 29/06/2021 11:29

I'm not bothered about overseas travel. I just want the end of social distancing, masks and ludicrous bubble/isolation rules. I don't know about other people but I feels totally traumatised by how we are living at the moment.....cue someone telling me I should be grateful to be alive and not being bombed by the GermansHmm

Watapalava · 29/06/2021 11:34

It will 100% lift

The narrative has changed and our new health sec it thankfully anti lockdown

They said there’s no point lockdowns down longer or having restrictions as there’s no benefit - we will have vaccinated everyone at risk so it’s open then or never

The comments by everyone inc sage the last few days suggest it’s happening

CottageGardener · 29/06/2021 11:51

@Watapalava God I hope so. My mental health is rock bottom.

We so want to get to our usual holiday place, which is in Europe. I know it sounds selfish/trivial to many, but I have been in a village in rural Ireland and barely left it since March 2020, and am just chomping at the bit to go! I also have not seen my adult daughters for 18 months.

Here in Ireland we expect to have EU green passes to use from 19 July. My DH has a ferry ticket booked for 2am on 19 July, getting out as soon as he is able! DS and I will follow by plane 2 days later. The DDs, who live in European countries, will drive and meet us there. Please please let it happen!

I’ve already gone fucking crazy.
Me too
beardeddragon174 · 29/06/2021 11:59

here in Wales we aren't allowed people indoors unless they're part of an extended household/bubble. Still ! But I can go sit in a cinema with tons of other people. Mmmm.
Cannot wait for July 19th!

Thewiseoneincognito · 29/06/2021 12:04

@CottageGardener did no one tell you restrictions had already started lifting in April? We’re not in lockdown now FYI. You can do most things today within reason so I’m not too sure July lifting is going to help with your MH because the level of sickness and cases will only get worse without mitigation in place.

Tittyfilarious81 · 29/06/2021 12:05

I think it really will lift on the 19th the new health secretary said in the commons yesterday he saw nothing in the data to suggest it could not happen and we need to learn to live with it and get our life back

Chillychangchoo · 29/06/2021 14:42

@Thewiseoneincognito

Really? Not in lockdown? My kids are on their seventh isolation so FYI this household is still very much in lockdown. Who gives a shit about cases? It’s hospitalisations that are important here and they are low.

Sorry to disappoint you but I think the vaccine has worked.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 29/06/2021 15:32

Fingers crossed. New health secretary seems very keen to get back to normal, thank goodness!

Look at my username. It's a lockdown username! Smile

How can wearing a mask to the shops and on public transport be traumatising? Or social distancing? (It's not like you can't hug your friends and family now.)

I'm really enjoying social distancing from strangers. Not having some smelly stranger squashed right up against me on the tube actually makes public transport so much more pleasant.

Baileysforchristmas · 29/06/2021 15:44

Can’t wait, I think it’s looking more likely, it’s all over the press today, I think people will loose it big time if they don’t.

Maybe the OP has school age children that need to keep isolating. Someone has commented on here that they are on their 7th isolation. I am a single working parent and it is incredibly stressful having to constantly worry about kids getting sent home and having to miss yet more work.
Chillychangchoo · 29/06/2021 15:46

@nordica

Well feeling traumatised is a bit dramatic but I’d quite like not to wear the fucking things again, they’re ruining my make up and I want to wear my lipstick again.

Plus I like smiling at strangers.

@NearlyAlwaysInsane

Hang on in there 🤦‍♀️

It also makes public transport financially unviable.

It astonishes me how, a year on, people think 'social distancing' is all about yellow floor markers in Tesco's or them having the privilege of getting a seat all to themselves on the bus. It isn't. Thousands of businesses need a full house at least some of the time in order to survive. If social distancing continues, very many jobs will be lost.

As for masks, I wouldn't call them 'traumatising' but not being able to see people's faces is sad and inhumane. Nothing stopping you wearing one as long as you want, but I certainly won't be.

JS87 · 29/06/2021 16:26

Bubbles and isolation are not part of the restrictions due to be lifted on July 19th though.

Yes good to hear
MarshaBradyo · 29/06/2021 16:30

My kids are on their seventh isolation

70 days isolation all together, no leaving house and garden if people have one. Some people don’t care as it’s children, not what they had to endure in lockdown as adults though. I do though, it’s a huge failing.

Lemonmelonsun · 29/06/2021 16:39

I've never known during this whole debacle, as many covid cases that are like now springing up all around me!

Lemonmelonsun · 29/06/2021 16:41
  • iced there are many situations where a mask will simply help stop the flow of droplets. On and off... Doesn't harm anyone..
