Go about you normal day to day …go to work/public transport/ eat out/children in school/supermarket visit etc with the required precautions taken have you managed not to get COVID so far?
A genuine question to understand how this compares with the highly transmissible delta variance…
I’m 40- not yet vaccinated and go into work only 1 day now…but I don’t go anywhere else so might not be giving a realistic picture…

Note: this is not a name calling, or shouting at people for not being vaccinated thread. Please don’t turn this into one….

I live in Bolton which basically has been in lockdown from March last year and have only been tested once which was negative. I didnt really wear masks until autumn last year and rarely use sanitizer when entering shops etc. Not sure if I’ve had COVID or not as I haven’t had an antibody test and haven’t noticed being more ill than I would be from a sore throat or a cold (which I usually suffer with once a year). I’m not vaxed and won’t be getting it. @

oohmethumb · 23/06/2021 15:34

I'm not vaccinated. Living absolutely normally except for the required precautions. Going into work public facing, using public transport, going to friends houses, going to pubs and restaurants. Haven't caught Covid. Not particularly worried if I do.

Whyevencare · 23/06/2021 15:38

I'm unvaccinated, age 50. Back in the office since August working 4-5 days per week with a staff of approx 20. No social distancing or mask wearing and none of us have had covid Confused

Admittedly I live in a semi rural area and we've had low cases throughout.

According to BBC stats the cases in my area are currently the highest they've been since the start so time will tell.

Yerazig · 23/06/2021 15:42

I’m early 30s not vaccinated (wanting to wait a little While longer) have worked through out taken public transport. I’m in the supermarket every few days, I’m out for dinner/drinks every few weeks. Last year March I had a week of feeling a bit rough and lost my taste and smell for a month, so im assuming I had it then. So currently wearing a mask when required and that’s really it.

MistressoftheDarkSide · 23/06/2021 15:46

I obey the rules simply to avoid conflict, and despite having a positive case in the house over Christmas with whom I was in close contact prior to notification I have not caught Covid. Have still not been invited for my vaccine which doesn't bother me one jot and am over 50. As I am supposed to trust the science and the doctors I trust there is a good reason I haven't been called, because obviously if there wasn't a good reason I would have been.

shouldistop · 23/06/2021 15:47

The thing is lots of people might have had COVID asymptotically or before testing was available

StarCat2020 · 23/06/2021 17:11

I have not been vaccinated but I barely leave the house as there is nothing to go outside for any more.

I have a F2F appointment at the Job Centre next week as part of UC bgut it may get cancelled and turned into a phone appointment like the last few.

Namechanged4thi5 · 23/06/2021 17:17

@StarCat2020 hope the appointment goes well. I’m like that as well…try not to go out other than when I have to- work/ school pickup

@shouldistop I have wondered if I should do an antibody test. I had ‘something’ in Feb last year which was an unusual cold to any I’ve had before

@oohmethumb do you mind me asking how old you are? I’m 40 and oscillate between not much worried if I catch it to absolutely petrified…

32, work in hospitality so around lots of people, have 2 kids so mix with others there too and we go out to the park/supermarket all the normal stuff, I wear a mask and sanitise whenever im suppose to, never had covid that I no of. My vaccine is this weekend so not much longer to wait at least.

oohmethumb · 23/06/2021 17:25

I'm 56. Not overweight and pretty healthy. Only real risk factor is my age but I've got lots of allergies and past medical history that makes the vaccine risky for me.

ComtesseDeSpair · 23/06/2021 17:32

I’m surprised not to have caught Covid, to be honest, since it’s supposed to be so transmissible. Didn’t keep to rules or social distancing at all throughout, only wear a mask where obligatory, wash hands when I get to my destination (but always have, even before covid) but have never bothered with gel, certainly haven’t done anything like wipe down shopping, since restrictions were lifted have been in pubs and restaurants several times a week. But on the other hand, I just think of all the ordinary years where I’m surrounded by people with coughs, colds, flu, norovirus and all the rest and don’t ever catch those either.

im2sad · 23/06/2021 17:50

Me and DH are unvaccinated. He doesn't use sanitiser at all. We haven't been ill at all nor do we actually know someone who's had covid.

im2sad · 23/06/2021 17:52

Should add we eat out several times a week, go shopping, have DC in school etc so it's not like we've locked ourselves away.

Dustyboots · 23/06/2021 17:57

We have kids in and out of the house from school all day - since March 2001 obviously and before.

I work in a school - none of us have been very ill over the last two years - but we've had colds - never been tested for Covid - not vaccinated.

We live in a densely populated area - with high deprivation and are squashed where we live.

Our risks are higher having this vaccine. We've got this far without getting Covid. Maybe we've had it. Most probably we have and I KNOW that natural immunity will be stronger than that from a dubious vaccine - whatever shit our government chooses to tell us.

Roch91 · 23/06/2021 18:10

I'm mid 30's not vaccinated been doing normal stuff etc & ive just tested positive I caught it from my son..

Flowerlane · 23/06/2021 18:17

I have not had the vaccine and have worked all the way through with many different people daily. No covid.

WilsonMilson · 23/06/2021 18:35

I’m not vaccinated, in my forties. Work from home, but go shopping a couple of times a week, have eaten out, but only outdoors and takeaways. DH also not vaxxed and he works in an office. DS goes to school. Haven’t taken public transport. Wear masks and sanitise. None of us have caught covid.

Sirranon · 23/06/2021 18:39

SAHM here, so shops, parks, playgroups, school run, church, play dates, as regulations allowed. No confirmed covid AFAIK but I suspect I also had it Feb last year before testing was a thing. DH has worked throughout and is in the same boat.

Not gone above and beyond the rules to be careful but I did spend most of 2020 glugging echinacea tea and vitamins fwiw😁

Might get my antibodies checked at some point out of curiosity.

ragged · 23/06/2021 19:26

It isn't THAT highly transmissible. It hasn't turned into measles.

My area has persistently low prevalence.

Employer makes us WFH; I WFH so no need for public transport.

I can keep space between me & others at supermarket, in shops, at gym.

Don't like restaurant food so don't dine indoors anywhere but home.

Kids don't know anyone who has had it, mind, and they do go on public transport regularly.

SantiagoSky · 23/06/2021 19:35

We are vaccinated now and were lucky before that. Lots of friends/neighbors with similar lifestyles did catch it.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 23/06/2021 19:44

I got my first vaccine 4 weeks ago. I have been attending work out of the home, using public transport, socialising, going to pubs, indoor activities, DS going to school throughout on a KW place. Not had Covid.

loulouljh · 23/06/2021 19:46

Not vaccinated. Carry on a normal life and don't give it a second thought!!!

Holidayhomeone · 23/06/2021 19:52

Not vaccinated, have had Covid delta variant - it was mild and manageable. I figure this is the best way to get over it/through this time now, but I’m sure I’ll be pushed into getting the vaccine even though I surely have the same antibodies that the vaccine offers

mog27 · 23/06/2021 19:58

Not vaccinated. At one point my local health board was recording the highest number of cases in the U.K. and I've not caught it despite going to work as normal and interacting with the public. If I'm honest I don't personally know many people who've tested positive and I don't know anyone who's died from it (not that I'm disrespecting anyone who has, this is just my personal experience).
