Would you isolate as a contact and miss your holiday?

If you’re double vaxxed, have a uk holiday booked, and T&T call you up as a contact the day before you are due to leave?

It hasn’t happened to me, just wondering if we all need to keep our heads down for 10 days before we leave for our hols in august.

I suspect I’ll get a lot of yes’s. But in the real world, do you think many people would actually miss their holiday on the basis of a possible contact (or even a randomer!) testing positive?

Or maybe these isolation rules for fully vaxxed won’t even exist by august!

Haha ha. No.

starbrightstarlight8888 · 21/06/2021 16:56

T&T is a legal requirement to isolate and will check so yes of course I would. The app is not a legal requirement.

strangeshapedpotato · 21/06/2021 16:57

Given that it's the easiest thing in the world for the government to cross check the list of people supposed to be isolating with people on aircraft - and this is a check they could do at any point in time - when you fly or 5 years later, the question is do you really want the risk of a 10k fine hanging over your head for years when travel insurance will cover you for this?

ssd · 21/06/2021 16:58

I wouldn't want to but I'd probably do it

Lemons1571 · 21/06/2021 16:59

@strangeshapedpotato it’s a uk holiday from the uk. So no flying or travel insurance.

gosh, yes, of course I would. I'm really shocked that anyone wouldn't.

Baileysforchristmas · 21/06/2021 17:00

No go on holiday and enjoy yourself

OP said a UK holiday so no plane.

In all honesty I don't know if I would or not.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 21/06/2021 17:00

Of course. It’s a legal requirement. Vaccines don’t stop people getting it or spreading it.

You’d think the system would be clever enough to put a hold on passports, driving licences etc to assist in ensuring the isolation took place.

cocoloco987 · 21/06/2021 17:01

T&T isolation is a legal requirement unfortunately. I'd be too scared to ignore it. What if you broke down or had a car accident or needed to see an emergency GP while away. None of these things are unlikely. You have to confirm to a lot of people that you aren't isolating eg booking a meal or to your accommodation. It's a bit more lying than I'm able to do 😆

starbrightstarlight8888 · 21/06/2021 17:01

They will probably check you're at home though. My dsd got checked, they called and turned up at our home.

NebulaStorm · 21/06/2021 17:04

Im worried too. We're thinking of not attending clubs and just have school to worry about. We are isolating now after being in contact with someone and I'm worried it will happen again.

Ah - apologies - missed the UK bit.

shinynewapple21 · 21/06/2021 17:05

It looks like there is some suggestion that in future rather than having to isolate, if you are double vacced they may just require testing for a few days.

MiddleParking · 21/06/2021 17:05

Absolutely not.

NautaOcts · 21/06/2021 17:07

App? No way
Actual official phone call… Would drive me mad if double vaxxed as the risk would be so small but yes I think you’d have to because of the potential fine

fadingfast · 21/06/2021 17:07

Yes i would isolate, it’s a legal requirement and I think there’s a good chance I would lose my job if I was fined for breaching there rules.

Bobholll · 21/06/2021 17:07

We deleted all apps & switched our phones off 24 hours before we travelled this week 😂🙈 Switched them on once we arrived.. not entirely sure what would’ve happened if we needed to isolate but already on holiday with my hottub so happy days!

we missed a weekend away after DD (10) had to isolate when her best pal at school got covid. DH and I were literally loading up to go away for a long weekend camping when we found out.

Houseofvelour · 21/06/2021 17:10

T&T can only make you legally isolate if you answer your phone....

Crimeismymiddlename · 21/06/2021 17:10

No-maybe a year ago, but being double vaxed and staying in the country, I would be surprised if most people would now.

cocoloco987 · 21/06/2021 17:10

I'm isolating too along with my whole year group. We go back on Friday for ONE DAY as that's the day we break up. Absolutely dreading a double isolation due to those 3 hours

cocoloco987 · 21/06/2021 17:12

T&T can only make you legally isolate if you answer your phone....

I have it on a letter via email due to being through work.

Teenagedream · 21/06/2021 17:13

We are going on holiday on Saturday so have purposely stayed away from restaurants, pubs etc. I know someone who got the app notification when she was half way to Cornwall. It made me think.
