I might have to isolate (my friend started with symptoms today and I saw her yesterday). I have a job interview on Tuesday and on top of that it’s my birthday this week and I have a friend travelling 200 miles to stay in hotel (all booked) to visit me. I’m keeping my fingers crossed she has a negative result, but I assume she might be positive as it’s prevalent in our area at the moment.

I really don’t want to lose out on the job, I feel like crying. I worked really hard to get this interview.

I feel for you, it's shit isn't it? Keeping my fingers crossed for you that your friend is negative.

LEMtheoriginal · 20/06/2021 10:55

Oh thats pants. Could you do the interview via zoom? Either that or i am sure the company will be understanding (and if they not, well then they shite!).

Happy birthday for this week

Fuck covid Angry

Does anyone know how long test results take to come back? She went to a mobile test site in our town.

I have been on many interview panels in the last few months, most of them were virtual. Would that be possible?

NCwhatsmynameagain · 20/06/2021 10:59

Can you do the interview remotely? I’m sorry you’re in this position. Unfortunately I’d still say if you have important thing coming up like interviews or birthdays it’s prudent to take more precautions in the run up just in case. Fingers crossed things all work out great for you next week.

Peanut91 · 20/06/2021 11:02

It may well be a negative result. There are some other nasty bugs going around at the moment. Both my son and I have battled a temperature the past week and now have horrendous coughs but both of us tested negative. My son's test came back in 16 hours last weekend and mine came back in 13 hours on Friday

Kitkat151 · 20/06/2021 11:04

24 to 48 hrs usually

Leftphalange · 20/06/2021 11:05

Each time we have had our results the following day.

I agree with others to try and do it virtually, no harm in asking.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 20/06/2021 11:15

It may be negative and they may do the interview virtually.

It’s a reminder to next time keep contacts to the bare minimum possible if important things are coming up.

ILookAtTheFloor · 20/06/2021 11:17

I thought you only needed to isolate if your friend was positive?

But obviously I'm a complete heretic so someone will come along soon that knows more.

Louby08 · 20/06/2021 11:18

Ah that’s rubbish for you.

If you knew that you had these things coming up though, would it not have been better to keep your distance, just incase?

Lau52 · 20/06/2021 11:28

I went test centre Wednesday midday got my results Thursday 5pm

Azteccolours · 20/06/2021 12:01

I know I’ve been stupid and shouldn’t have met her. I guess I’ve only got myself to blame Sad

OP posts:
Lougle · 20/06/2021 12:02

DD1 was tested at 08:30 and got her result at Midnight. I hope it comes back negative for you.

Azteccolours · 20/06/2021 12:18

We were sitting outside, will that make any difference to whether I need to isolate if it’s positive?

OP posts:
BarbarianMum · 20/06/2021 12:24

I think for outside it's isolate if you were together for more than 15min if you were 2m or less apart. If more than 2m then you dont need to isolate - at least that's what it was in Dec.

Hopefully you'll be able to reschedule your interview or do it remotely, that's certainly what would happen where I work. You certainly dont want to interview on Tuesday then have to report them as close contacts if you test positive later in the week, that wouldnt go down well.

blameitonthecaffeine · 20/06/2021 12:31

That is really rubbish.

Were you definitely in close contact? If you wore masks or distanced or were outside you might well not count as a contact.

Azteccolours · 20/06/2021 12:35

@blameitonthecaffeine we were outside. Sitting across the table from each other.

OP posts:
Azteccolours · 20/06/2021 12:35

@blameitonthecaffeine and we wore masks when inside.

OP posts:
blameitonthecaffeine · 20/06/2021 12:51

I'm no expert but possibly depends on the size of the table. If you were 1m+ apart you might be ok. Not sure if it's still 2m though and that would be a very large table.

Azteccolours · 20/06/2021 12:57

We were outdoors though, so fingers crossed.

GentlemanBurglar · 20/06/2021 13:07

@Azteccolours

No, it's not taken into consideration.

If you've had social contract with why loves to be a confirmed case the day before their symptoms started you definitely need to isolate.

Azteccolours · 20/06/2021 14:55

Do they call you to check up that you’re isolating? How do they know you’re at home? I’m not planning on not doing it, but I’m just wondering.

OP posts:
JustDanceAddict · 20/06/2021 14:59

If she’s positive you’ll have to isolate.
Interview could be done remotely. Companies must make provision for this.
Tests come back quickly now, usually with 24 hours. My dd had one at midday-ish a couple of weeks ago and results by 8am next morning - luckily negative. Was ‘just’ a bad cough.

BarbarianMum · 20/06/2021 15:04

@Azteccolours yes they sometimes ring and check. I know some people who have visits to check but that might just be in relation to travel.
