Angry that is disgraceful!

Evenstar · 19/06/2021 09:11

Disgusting no wonder UEFA officials don’t want to do quarantine 😡

ComDummings · 19/06/2021 09:21

That’s awful

VariantL1130 · 19/06/2021 09:21

In before "well they shouldn't be travelling, it's a pandemic doncha know."

The elderly couple in question are British citizens who were living in South Africa and have been trying to move back to the UK to join their family for the last year. Having now sold their house in SA they have had no choice but to fly here and enter quarantine.

Meadowlands1 · 19/06/2021 09:25

This is terrible - wish I could pop round with a meal for them.

Bekindbepositive · 19/06/2021 09:31

appalling… remember how govt. sent food for free school meals kids… looks like same mistake/corrupt system again. Paying ££££ for that Angry

Bordois · 19/06/2021 10:03

So its like being in prison but you are also paying £££ for the pleasure...

youshouldbeplotting · 19/06/2021 10:30

That's appalling. Agree that this is like the FSM debacle. Someone is making ££££ out of this.

TheOnlyWayisher · 19/06/2021 10:31

Someone will be profiting from this. My money is on more Tory cronies.

Frazzled2207 · 19/06/2021 11:01

is bloody awful. I mean being properly fed is surely the one thing you would expect to happen.

@TheOnlyWayisher probably right. Whereas pubs that are struggling or cafes, small businesses in the main, could have provided meals quite easily, and probably at times when even now they are not very busy.

Of course - just as with green energy, electric cars, the housing crisis, the first instinct of most of the Tory party is would seem is "How can I make a fast buck here?"

The "poor" end up paying the bills while waving their Union Jacks and cheering Boris on because they'd rather be poor than an antifa, traitrous commie.

LittleRed53 · 19/06/2021 12:52

Absolutely disgusting!!! People should lose jobs and contracts immediately over this!

Villanelle17 · 19/06/2021 13:51

This is disgraceful. Imagine the money someone is making from this

lljkk · 19/06/2021 17:08

it doesn't look terrible at all

It sounds like the Quarantine conditions in Aus & NZ, in every respect - ok, not the cockroaches, admittedly. I presume Aus has way more of those.

80 yr olds who can't get out to exercise don't each much so portion size seems fine

I couldn't see how the broccoli was burnt

Know I'm gonna get flamed, but basically the complaints are 90% about food quality (which is exactly as I expected from every other quarantine story) & not being let out to walk (also exactly as I expected).

Bordois · 19/06/2021 17:13

I think if you are paying the better part of 2.5k for the privilege of being confined to a room for 10 day, you at least can expect 3 decent and filling meals a day, served at a reasonable time.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 19/06/2021 17:27

@lljkk They might be 80 something but what about the rest of us? I would expect decent meals for that money and I wouldn't expect them at 9.30 at night! The broccoli is brown, why on earth would anyone think that's acceptable? If it was like that at home it would go in the bin and if I was served it in a restaurant I'd have sent it straight back!

Buzzinwithbez · 19/06/2021 17:29

That is horrific.
As these people are being quarantined as a pragmatic way to ensure that any variants can not come into the country, the priority should be ensuring the health of the travellers so that they would stand maximum chance of recovery if they did happen to develop covid.
Decent, healthy, filling, warm meals served at a reasonable time, plus plenty of opportunity to exercise, maintain fitness and obtain vitamin D from the sun in an environment that causes minimal stress ought to be prioritised.

LeanneBrownsLonelyBraincell · 19/06/2021 17:37

They're in a MARRIOTT. For that money they should have their choice from the room service menu surely?

Quaggars · 19/06/2021 17:41

I'm with @lijkk
Burnt broccoli? Doesn't look burnt, and they're getting meals provided.
Sorry, but you know there'll be quarantine restrictions on entering a country, and it looks like they're being catered for.
With all the calls of "horrific" and"disgraceful" on here I was expecting slum conditions or something and was a bit scared to click the link lol

I'm a bit stunned by this statement They are paying a fortune

They're not in prison

Better food can easily be sorted.

Business travellers aren't doing this.

Ostara212 · 19/06/2021 17:46

I've got a relative due in this because she had to go to a funeral and she really did have to attend because there were legal matters to sort.

Why should anyone have to endure this? It's not like choosing to go and agreeing to stay in the Marriott as an extra.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 19/06/2021 17:49

Burnt broccoli? Doesn't look burnt, and they're getting meals provided.

Since when has broccoli been brown? And why is practically every dish on the menu curry? Not everyone likes or can eat spicy food.

Buzzinwithbez · 19/06/2021 18:19

I agree. We always stayed there as first choice pre-kids. Looks like it's gone way downhill.
