First Pfizer jab and feeling dizzy/vertigo

PixiKitKat · 14/06/2021 12:10

Has anyone else had this side effect? I had my jab about 2 weeks ago now and ever since I've felt a bit off kilter, vertigo was the best descriptor. It's like I've woken up from drinking and still a tiny bit tipsy in my head.

I've tried googling but haven't found much about it. I don't know how concerned I should be or if it will go away, it's a very odd feeling.

Dizziness is reported in 12% of people reporting on vaers in US.
If you go to vestibular.org there is a forum on people suffering dizziness and vertigo post covid vaccine. It will go away with time.

JS87 · 14/06/2021 12:17

I also had this and tinnitus. My dizziness has gone now.

WhyDoIFeelAwful · 14/06/2021 12:21

I still have terrible vertigo 2 months on.

PixiKitKat · 14/06/2021 12:32

Oh gosh! I'll have a look at the link, I expected a sore arm and feeling a bit flu like, not this weird dizzy feeling.

@WhyDoIFeelAwful I feel for you that You've had this for 2 months now, have you had the second dose?

I developed a swimmy head (and Vision) with nausea after my second jab a month ago, It is gradually settling down, now it is mainly when I turn my head from side to side when I'm lying down.
I'd put it down to the fact that I have MS despite the fact that I've not had this symptom before. It's interesting to know that.

badgerswitharms · 14/06/2021 12:44

I had this. It passed after about a week.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 14/06/2021 12:49

Yes, had normal fly symptoms post AZ followed by vertigo which I've never had before. It lasted a week. Second jab as just been a headache and very tired so far ,hoping no more vertigo.

hollieberrie · 14/06/2021 12:56

I had this after Covid, lasted 7 months. Tinnitus is still there but the dizziness went away.

daffyluck · 14/06/2021 15:46

Yes, i had exactly those symptoms, started a few days after the vaccination and lasted nearly 3 weeks. All ok now.

PixiKitKat · 14/06/2021 16:02

@daffyluck I hope mine goes in a week then!

I’m on week 4 of this - been to gp and ruled out anything else with bloods, urine sample and an ecg. Only got bloods back lunchtime today so Drs appointment tomorrow to follow up. I’ve got debilitating vertigo and a constant tremor in my hands. Felt fine pre Pfizer and above symptoms started 3-4 days after before reaching the worst state Wednesday 2nd June. I really hope it goes soon, I’ve been bed bound on some days and experienced intrusive thoughts on others with the sheer awfulness of how I felt. I have felt better the last 2 days but not much 😬. Making me question whether to have the second jab or not but will obviously discuss with the GP

WhyDoIFeelAwful · 14/06/2021 20:22

@Petal12 I'm like you. I've spent weeks in bed keeping absolutely still. It's 2 months now. 😭

Petal12 · 14/06/2021 20:46

@WhyDoIFeelAwful how have you coped? I’ve got two primary kids at home that require some level of attention and don’t get me started on trying to get them to/from school - luckily my husband is still wfh and can cover most lifts and friends have done the ones he can’t but we can’t sustain my inaction!

WhyDoIFeelAwful · 14/06/2021 22:48

Well I'm now back up at a&e. It might be nothing to do with the vaccine.

Cantspeakpublic · 14/06/2021 23:13

Yes me too please be careful as I nearly had a very bad car accident due to this and it left me quite shook up. Mine lasted 5 weeks then one day I woke and it had gone! Very odd feeling and now I’m dreading my second jab. Has anyone had their second jab?

Cantspeakpublic · 14/06/2021 23:13

Dr said wasn’t the vaccine but I know it was

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 14/06/2021 23:35

There are physio excercises to help vertigo, lying still in bed is the worst thing you can do . Lots of YouTube and they're easy to do,I did them when I had it.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 14/06/2021 23:36

There's also meds you can take from the GP plus antihistamine is meant to help too.

Wherediditgo · 15/06/2021 11:29

I had the vac on Saturday and keep getting periods of extreme fatigue. I have a few hours each day where I feel exactly like I have flu and then it goes. Also keep getting nausea. Had the pfizer. Anyone else?

JS87 · 15/06/2021 14:34

Try taking travel sickness tablets as a short term fix although I think if you take for than a few days can make dizziness worse. Also lots of ginger tea.

JS87 · 15/06/2021 14:36

@hollieberrie I have this post vaccine. Dizziness gone but still got tinnitus. Sometimes ringing in ear but mainly an electric buzzing in head. Has yours got any better? What kind of tinnitus? I had a week or so where it went away but then came back.

Roonerspismed · 15/06/2021 14:41

My mum had this. It took six weeks to go.

Also told it wasn’t the vaccine

There are lots of these stories and a lot going on we aren’t being told. It’s disgusting

hollieberrie · 15/06/2021 14:41

@JS87 Yes thats exactly it, its an electric buzzing. Its constant but gets worse if i have a cold or my period.

Its still there, its been over a year now so sadly i dont think its going away but im kind of learning to live with it. Have you tried antihistamines? Lots of long Covid people take them to try and calm down the body's inflammatory reaction. I do find they help a bit with my ear pressure and headaches but the tinnitus never goes. How lnog since your vaccine? Dont give up hope yet, it may go. Try to avoid sugar, caffeine and alcohol and keep your body as calm as possible - thats all advice from long haul sufferers.

JS87 · 15/06/2021 15:08

@hollieberrie maybe that’s why it came back as it was my period! It’s been nearly three months since second dose and 4 since it started. Antihistamines don’t help. I also tried a low histamine diet and no sugar, dairy, gluten etc but got insomnia and weight loss so had to stop. Don’t have caffeine or alcohol anyway. I think it could go away for everyone if we could find out how to calm the inflammation/ histamine. Apparently a beef liver fat extract antronex removes histamine but you can’t buy it in U.K. antihistamine just block receptors.

Theonlyoneiknow · 15/06/2021 15:19

I have the electric buzzing in my ears too, started a few days after first dose of Pfizer at the end of April - and still there.
