Pfizer - arm pain

Treezan82 · 30/05/2021 19:11

I had my 1st Pfizer jab yesterday at 3pm. About 24 hours ago (so 4ish hours later) my arm started to really hurt and it still is! Anyone have this side effect and how long did it last? Thanks!

48 hours for me. I found it best to keep my arm moving.

ShinyGreenElephant · 30/05/2021 19:13

Horrible isn't it! Like you've pulled a muscle but in a weird place. I had mine Friday and it only hurt badly from Saturday early hours until lunchtime, then started to fade. Fine now. Hope yours fades too soon.

ChoccyLatte · 30/05/2021 19:13

Yes both me and dh had this. Didn't take long to go away

sar302 · 30/05/2021 19:14

Yep, had mine on Friday and it still feels like someone held me down and punched me 20 times! I expect it will go in a couple of days.

Principessa2070 · 30/05/2021 19:14

My dp had his yesterday morning and his arm is quite tender today as well poor sod. Hope it feels better soon OP

LoveFall · 30/05/2021 19:14

My arm really hurt but was better after a couple of days.

Ragoo · 30/05/2021 19:14

About 48 hours for me, had it on Thursday evening and I'm completely fine now

whatswithtodaytoday · 30/05/2021 19:15

Yes, this is the most common side effect. Mine and DPs lasted about 48 hours, though much less on the second day.

2orangey · 30/05/2021 19:15

Lasted about 2 days for me.

Thecurtainsofdestiny · 30/05/2021 19:16

Yes. 48 hours. Wasn't sore at all on 2nd one though.

PTW1234 · 30/05/2021 19:17

I typically get arm tenderness and local swelling with any vaccine. I regularly get the flu shot and I am usually tender for a couple of days.

As a pp said keeping it moving so the muscle doesn’t seize up works best

FeedMeSantiago · 30/05/2021 19:24

Had mine on Friday and arm is now mostly back to normal. It was at its worst on Friday night and Saturday morning.

DH had his jab a couple of weeks ago and his sore arm also lasted about 48 hours.

Treezan82 · 30/05/2021 19:24

Ahh thanks so much for the well wishes! Sounds like I should be alright tomorrow. Thanks everyone. On the plus side I was surprised by how painless the actual injection was, I always find the flu shot stings me.

About 48 hours, much the same as other posters. I had mine on a Friday. My arm was sore Saturday and Sunday, then just wasn’t when I woke up on the Monday.

Natsku · 30/05/2021 19:27

Mine hurt a lot for a couple of days, on par with a tetanus jab I'd say.

Weaverspin · 30/05/2021 19:32

Mine was sore for about a week with the first Pfizer jab, and a couple of days with the second.

Alleycat02 · 30/05/2021 19:33

Mine still hurts now and I had it last Thursday, ie a week and a half ago 😢
Just a dull ache like it's hard to pick up anything heavy with it.

Verbena87 · 30/05/2021 19:39

2 days for me then absolutely fine.

Unanananana · 30/05/2021 19:45

About two days for me. More annoying than anything else. Along with being thirsty.

MissCalamity · 30/05/2021 19:56

I couldn't sleep on the side I was jabbed for 2 nights after my first one and my arm ached a bit. By the 3rd day I was fine. Smile

GetTheGoodLookingGuy · 30/05/2021 20:03

Yep, about 48 hours. Someone at work recommended you choose the side you don't sleep on rather than your non-dominant hand side, so went with that, which did make sleeping easier. I found that the first day after, I was deliberatly restricting my movement to avoid lifting that arm up because that made it hurt more (had to get a tall child to write the date on the board!), and then the second day it hurt but I was just using it normally, and by the third day it only hurt if I pressed on it.

Smokeahontas · 30/05/2021 20:12

I’ve had too much sun, just realised Pfizer was in the thread title….I’ve had AZ!

Apologies

RandomUsernameHere · 30/05/2021 20:19

Yes, my arm was very painful the day after the jab. Was much better the day after that though so didn't last long!

Arcadia · 30/05/2021 20:39

Really hurt after first Pfizer but also hurt as she pulled the needle out. Had my second on Wednesday and didn't even feel it at the time and very little pain after either. I think it's luck of the draw!
