New thread as the MRHA report is out today.

Note this is not an anti vaccination thread.

Thank you @penni00

** https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2021-05-27/california-launches-incentive-program-for-covid-19-vacciness*

"California to pay $116.5 million in gifts, cash to those who get COVID vaccinations.

The chance for 10 residents to win $1.5 million apiece."

So it's not okay to worry about the 'rare' risks of AZ but it is okay to hope that you are one of the rare few to win the vaccine lottery? Hmm

NotSoLongGoodbye · 28/05/2021 11:47

@Lakes74
I'm allergic to penicillin and got Pfizer. No issues at all

IndigoC · 28/05/2021 12:58

Johnson & Johnson has finally been approved here:

www.theguardian.com/world/2021/may/28/johnson-johnson-single-shot-covid-vaccine-approved-for-use-in-uk

Could be a good option for over 40s hold outs. There is still some risk of clotting but significantly less than AZ. Better efficacy against the SA variant too, which bodes well.

Schulte · 28/05/2021 13:00

That’s good news, thanks for sharing!

IndigoC · 28/05/2021 13:12

It’ll be interesting to see if they place an age restriction on it. I imagine so, as they love to lump it in with AZ, even though the risk ratio appears to be different. Order size seems to have reduced to 20 million doses available “later in the year”. It was originally slated for June/July arrival so not sure if that’s still the case.

Carefulvulvadriver · 29/05/2021 08:24

I think things are slowly changing. This poster is for one of the Indian variant high risk areas. Note how they are making it clear it’s Pfizer and also saying they will not ask for proof of eligibility. Of course there are other concerns people might have about eligibility other than age (eg insecure immigration status - I don’t know how that is handled with the vaccine, or residency, or lack of an NHS number) but we know that some people won’t be vaccinated because they are over 40 and worried about AZ. Good to see that in this area at least, that is being addressed.

@Carefulvulvadriver these local walk in centres are a great idea. Before I booked mine locally the only options being shown to me were only accessible by car. It isn't just vaccine hesitancy at play if people can't travel to get vaccinated.

I just had my second AZ around 10 days ago. It was one of the worst decisions of my life and it took my whole body and soul to go for it the second time around. None of your concerns on this thread are insignificant. I still have concerns even though I’m fully jabbed now. Day 11 I felt like complete shit but feeling okay now. Up until day 10 I felt nothing the second time around. I still worry about the long term side effects of the AZ and the Pfizer but I really do think it’s not ever going to be a win win here is it? Both options are crap but sometimes the pressure can get too much so you either end up having it or don’t. What I will say is if you don’t have it please don’t give yourself such a hard time the way I did when I thought I wouldn’t have it. I feel like all that sadness from making the decision at the time not to have it has really messed up my physical and mental health. Be kind to yourself all you lovely people Flowers

NicoleKidmanSuperFan · 29/05/2021 14:01

By worst decision of my life I don’t mean I regret it now, just that at the time it was really hard and took everything to actually make it.

MiniMaxi · 30/05/2021 08:29

How’s your decision making going @whataballbag, @Rainbowsandstorms and other reluctant second dosers?

I am still flitting between getting it ASAP as we’re due to be on holiday in five weeks and want the worst of the waiting to be over by then - and hanging on a bit longer to see if the Com-Cov results come out.

Think I’m just going to have to go for it, realistically, and try to keep reminding myself that the expert haematology panel aren’t convinced about second dose incidents yet.

Schulte · 30/05/2021 08:43

Not wanting to worry you even more but thought I’d post this as there have been many questions in this forum over long term implications of having a blood clot after AZ. This is in the Telegraph today:

Sorry, meant to post the headline with it!

Hanging on at the minute for more info. Was glad to see a smaller jump on Thursday though instead of the doubling the week before! Had a bit of a worrying smear on Friday so been preoccupied with that!!

Are you off anywhere nice @MiniMaxi

Glad to hear you're doing better Smile
Hotpinkangel19 · 30/05/2021 20:50

I cancelled my second dose.

TulipVictory · 30/05/2021 21:36

@Hotpinkangel19 me too

DatingDickheads · 31/05/2021 15:10

@NotSoLongGoodbye I have just today been offered my first appointment and it’s tomorrow! I don’t have much time to worry! I’m hoping it’s not AZ!

NotSoLongGoodbye · 31/05/2021 15:54

@DatingDickheads
Fingers crossed .... hope it's an alternative

AppleJane · 31/05/2021 20:35

@DatingDickheads are you under 40? I should hope they don't offer you AZ if you are. And you've every right to refuse too Smile

DatingDickheads · 31/05/2021 20:47

@AppleJane I’m 44.

AppleJane · 31/05/2021 20:50

Let's hope they're busy doing unders and you get an alternative! Have you considered refusing?

DatingDickheads · 01/06/2021 12:44

The will only give me AZ! If I don’t take that I can’t get it.

AppleJane · 01/06/2021 13:24

That's unfair @DatingDickheads I'm in my forties and managed to get a Pfizer as someone else didn't show. Could you get on a list for their pzifer days?
