Anyone had their second jab brought forward yet?

As per the last press conference.

My second one is due in a fortnight so perhaps that's soon enough for them not to bother bringing it forward?

I rebooked mine on the govt website. Was due 1st of June. Now going later today.

shitstirrer · 19/05/2021 12:40

Mine is booked for next weekend, I will be exactly 12 weeks.

I am 51 with health conditions. Not heard anything.

Are we meant to rebook it ourselves then? I didn't realise, I thought they'd contact me!

just a question if anyone knows, if I manage to log in to the NHS website and get a sooner appointment, how will I know if it is the same vaccine that I will be given? Doesnt it change on any given day?Confused

Unreasonabubble · 19/05/2021 12:43

They contacted me and I had mine on Monday. Was supposed to be 2nd June. I was told to cancel my 2nd jab and rebook for an earlier date.

shitstirrer · 19/05/2021 12:43

There is a message on the website saying wait to be contacted.

They'll know which dose you've already had and make your second appointment accordingly. Near me certain hubs are doing certain vaccinations - I'm 48/group 6 and my appointments were both made for a vaccination centre which only uses AZ, while DH (37/no underlying conditions) is booked for a different site for (I assume) the Pfizer.

I saw that, which is why I haven't changed my booking myself yet. I'm G6 so no idea if they'll think it's worth getting in touch for the sake of two weeks!

shitstirrer · 19/05/2021 12:50

I am also G6. I am scared that if I cancel my booking in order to look at some other dates, there might not be any in time and I might end up waiting longer! Wish you could see other appointments first

WhatHaveIFound · 19/05/2021 12:51

My GP surgery phoned me last week to book me in for Saturday so I had a 9 week gap instead of the planned 12 weeks.

DH is at a vaccination centre and if he goes on the NHS website it only gives him the option of cancelling his second appointment, not rearranging it so i'm not sure what he can do.

Geamhradh · 19/05/2021 12:53

Yes, my second was supposed to be June 3rd. Had it two weeks ago.

TheVampiresWife · 19/05/2021 12:54

@shitstirrer my worry exactly. My second appointment was originally for a site 30 miles away, which was the only appointment I could get at the time. I felt so ropey after my first I decided to change it, because it would have involved a four hour round trip on four separate buses. I had SUCH a faff on - when I logged on it automatically cancelled that appointment and wouldn't let me re-book unless I booked both appointments again. It got sorted eventually but I could do without a second dose of ballache!

I’m in category 6 because my DH is immunosuppressed. After looking at the data I’ve decided it’s better for me not to have it early because it’s much more effective if there is a longer gap. Obviously everyone’s situation is different.

PickAChew · 19/05/2021 12:56

Mine was booked for this week, anyway but the surgery phoned me on Monday to book Ds1 in for today, after having his first at the beginning of April.

MadisonAvenue · 19/05/2021 12:57

My husband didn’t have his second one booked and we worked out that it was due by mid-June, going by our local GP hub waiting 12 weeks. They usually send a text a few days before the 12 weeks but he had one yesterday morning which told him he could book now so he’s going on Sunday.

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 19/05/2021 12:59

My husband had his first last weekend (37 no health issues) was given a number to call in 3 weeks time to book his second.

Myworldjusthim · 19/05/2021 13:01

I just called 119 and got them to move mine forward.

mateysmum · 19/05/2021 13:02

I received a text to pull my June 2nd date forward, and as I had to take DH for his second jab yesterday, I just asked at the centre if they could do mine too, And they did!

megletthesecond · 19/05/2021 13:03

I missed this.
My second AZ is due end of June. 47, no health conditions and low risk area. Is everyone's second being brought forward?

SpiderinaWingMirror · 19/05/2021 13:06

I am 53, Dh 54. We were booked for 24th June. Cancelled mine just now and offered 3rd June. Cancelled Dh and offered 21st May.

Oldraver · 19/05/2021 13:13

Mine was a week earlier than I thought. Just assumed they had got through the quickly

iamme21 · 19/05/2021 13:17

I’m having my second next week, 10 week gap

ChrisQuean · 19/05/2021 13:19

As someone said upthread, for AZ all the latest research shows that in fact around 12 weeks gap between vaccinations is absolutely optimal in terms of immune response and protection offered. Less than six weeks gap and it’s not startling more effective than only having one vaccine. I’m puzzled at the rush to bring forward second doses markedly, when the latest clinical guidance says the opposite. I think the government has the doses and just wants to be seen to “do something”.

sluj · 19/05/2021 13:24

I had a text at the weekend to bring it forward from 2nd June. I went on the app ( where I booked the original one) and cancelled my existing appt ( nerve wracking) but got one for today, 2 weeks earlier. Then I waited for the text confirmation all day and nothing came so I began to think maybe I had not completed the booking. Went back to the app and it didn't recognise me and told me to ring 119. Spent several hours trying to get through on 119 and going through the press 1, press 2 routines only to be told that lines were busy, use the app.
Eventually I managed to strike luck and got through to a lady who confirmed my appointment for me. I told her I had not received a text confirmation and she said a lot of people had told her that. I did suggest she should let their twitter manager know so that people like me wouldn't have to bother her and waste about 2 hours of my time.
If you do it on the app, screen shot the confirmation number and don't expect any confirmation!
Just had my jab and all went well

stealthninjamum · 19/05/2021 13:50

A friend of mine got a text asking them to rebook their AZ jab to have it about 3 weeks earlier. They’re the same age as me, with no health conditions (as far as I know) so I’m wondering if I’ll get a text too.
