Dd who has sen turned 16 in March this year. All she has wanted for ages and ages is to go to Disneyworld. I don’t have Disneyworld money but I have saved and saved and saved to take her to Disneyland Paris in October half term.

She knows about it as that was her birthday present. She was so excited and has been planning what characters she wants to meet. She downloaded the map and has decided what she wants to eat and where.

We aren’t going to get to go are we? I have got insurance. Jesus bloody Christ.

It's impossible to say unfortunately. Good that you have insurance - how late can you leave it to cancel and still get a refund?

Very disappointing for your DC but hopefully she will get to go another time if you have to rearrange.

Passthecake30 · 15/05/2021 16:35

I moved mine from last May, to last October, to this May, and then cancelledSad. Luckily the kids weren’t aware. You could delay yours and you’ll get there eventually?

Overthebow · 15/05/2021 16:37

Does she know when it is? If you can’t go this year you will probably get to go next year, could you focus on that then if you do get to go earlier it will be a nice bonus?

Cantstandsmugness · 15/05/2021 16:39

Who knows - keep the booking - Disney will roll it over to next year if not. You will get there. It’s horrendous isn’t it! I despair. Hopefully these vaccines will work and we can move on like we were promised! We should know in a couple of weeks I reckon.

Summercocktailsinthesnow · 15/05/2021 16:57

I would scrap Disneyland for now and take her to Alton Towers which was even better in my dc's view and bring that forward as well, to very very soon before we hit another problem.
It is not perfect but is a compromise and take her to Disney in a few years when things are better.

RosieLemonade · 15/05/2021 17:00

We had to cancel ours in March. Heartbroken doesn't cover it. I cried so hard because it was for my 30th Birthday and we had spoken about it for years and years and paid for all the extras. Thank actual God that DD didn't know about it.

Cantstandsmugness · 15/05/2021 17:02

Alton towers cannot compete with the magic of Disney!

AC12theletterofthelaw · 15/05/2021 17:05

You cannot compare Alton Towers to Disney.

Hope you get there OP. It is magical.

What restaurants does she want to eat at?

Queenofbeebers · 15/05/2021 17:07

Alton towers won’t do the job she has an entire plan, each ride has been researched to within an inch of its life.

It's a long time until October, don't write it off just yet Flowers

HairyFloppins · 15/05/2021 17:10

Don't cancel yet. October is a while away, and some people got to go last year. It won't be years. Fingers crossed for you.

FelicityPike · 15/05/2021 17:11

It’s a while yet until October.

PremierLynn · 15/05/2021 17:11

October is surely a possibility

Queenofbeebers · 15/05/2021 17:12

She wants to eat at the Ratatouille restaurant. She has even circled snack stops on the maps. I’ve even paid to get a Mickey cake as it was for her birthday and was booking cafe Mickey. She has saved up all her birthday money and has set money aside to buy me a new mug after she broke my last one by accident. Breaks my heart.

I think you'll be able to go. Given the successful vaccination programme in the US, it's likely they will be on our green list soon.

Cindersrellie · 15/05/2021 17:13

Hold your horses, that's five months away! Decide in September Thanks

SmidgenofaPigeon · 15/05/2021 17:13

Why? What’s going to be the issue with October?

And before everyone cries... INDIAN VARIANT.... i wouldn’t be writing off a holiday in October in a fit of doom yet.

AC12theletterofthelaw · 15/05/2021 17:14

One of the best ways to meet lots of characters is eating at Inventions.

I am sure you’ll get there. They are talking of opening in June. Ok, we won’t be able to travel yet but fingers crossed.

Queenofbeebers · 15/05/2021 17:14

We are going to Disneyland Paris. Is inventions there?

OP posts:
SmidgenofaPigeon · 15/05/2021 17:15

@TimeForLunch

OP is quite obviously talking about going to Paris, not the US.

Sowingbees · 15/05/2021 17:19

Just sending you a unmumsnetty hug. It's horrible not being able to look forward to something, especially if they like to research it as much as your dd.
I've not told the kids (primary) that I've booked again for next May as they were so sad when it was cancelled last year and I feel like next may is unlikely as well.

Puntastic · 15/05/2021 17:21

Why quite obviously? She said Disney World, which is the US one.

Queenofbeebers · 15/05/2021 17:22

Honestly every day she comes out with a new fact. I’m keeping quiet in the hope that it doesn’t get cancelled but will have to speak to Disney/Eurostar about moving and what the options are. I’m just gutted for her. We are going by ourselves too. The whole family know how passionate she is about it (ASD related obsessed) and forewent a few days away this summer so we could go!

OP posts:
Queenofbeebers · 15/05/2021 17:23

I said I don’t have Disneyworld money so we are off to Paris. Grin

SmidgenofaPigeon · 15/05/2021 17:24

@Puntastic she says she can’t afford Disneyworld but has saved to go to Disneyland Paris....
