1984 too and still not able to book. Now pretty much everyone I know has been jabbed, lots had GP invites. My GP says they’re only doing second jabs :( I just feel more and more anxious!

Goatsdorhone · 16/05/2021 09:59

@KitchenWarrior

1984 (June) and booking site still saying I'm not eligible, grrr!
Same - will try again this eve in case it opens up unofficially before tomorrow
nordica · 16/05/2021 10:00

Matt Hancock has just confirmed on the Marr show the rollout will extend to 35+ age groups this coming week - so hopefully lots of you don't have long to wait now! Smile

Itsjustamoment · 16/05/2021 10:14

My dp - just turned 36 - had his last week. Text from gp, managed to book Pfizer for the very next day. We're in the North West.

All done. Observation now... lovely doctor did mine. Very slick operation.

Reearry · 16/05/2021 15:02

Got my jab today. 35, London. Very quick and efficient. Great job by the NHS staff and volunteers!

rainbowfairydust · 16/05/2021 15:30

Lots of people trying to book by the looks of it on the booking site, although it said 10 minute wait for 600 people but it went down so quickly to about a minute wait.... And it still said I wasn't eligible yet... Age 36.... Anyone know what time it usually opens for bookings the day before? Hoping it opens to our age tomorrow

DixonD · 16/05/2021 15:58

It was definitely open by late afternoon on Wednesday last week, before officially opening at 7am on Thursday for 38-39 year olds.

Porridgeislife · 16/05/2021 16:03

Yes, I was able to book my vaccine when I saw it on Twitter about 5pm last Wednesday. Very limited options though - Islington, Guy’s or Wimbledon. Got my text inviting me to book the next morning at 9am.

rainbowfairydust · 16/05/2021 16:09

Thanks, will check again later, interesting to know more locations might open up on the actual day so won't book an inconvenient one tonight

Porridgeislife · 16/05/2021 16:12

Yes - I’m super fortunate that Islington is a 15 minute walk so convenient. What did surprise me was availability - had I been able to do so, I could have been jabbed from 8am on Thursday morning. There were LOADS of appointments.

Rosehip10 · 16/05/2021 16:16

38, SW London, Pfizer today done at GP hub - all volunteer team from queue managers to the injector.

sarahin2021 · 16/05/2021 16:47

Any pregnant women on this thread? Wondering whether the update to the site so pregnant women get Pfizer or moderna is working? (Or is it a moot point if you're under 40?) My GP said I'd need to call them when my age becomes eligible so that they can arrange it but hoping that's no longer necessary. Thanks!

Today on the BBC News pages:

www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-57133372

"People aged 35 and over in England will be offered coronavirus vaccinations from next week."

Earlier today on the BBC News site, it had also said that a spokesperson for the JCVI has said that the decision to offer an alternative to AZ for the 35+ age group was currently under review, in the context of bringing forward 2nd doses to 8 weeks rather than 11-12 weeks.

But that statement seems to have been removed from the BBC pages, as far as I can see.

It's currently unclear from which day next week the 35+ age group will be able to book appointments or whether this age group will continue to be offered the Pfizer vaccine - not AZ.

CynsterBitch · 16/05/2021 17:03

Late July 83 here, still not able to book

They said they they were open to reviewing the guidance on the AZ for the under 40s, but is not currently necessary but could possibly change in the future.

It’s not a definite!

It doesn’t apply if you’re under 40, but it does work as when I checked the options available for my husband (over 40) to make sure I’d booked into a Pfizer clinic, I changed his status to say pregnant, and the list of options was reduced to the same as mine (under 40).
DixonD · 16/05/2021 17:07

If you’re under 40 it doesn’t ask you if you’re pregnant. It does if you are over 40. This is no doubt because under 40 you’ll get the AZ anyway.

DixonD · 16/05/2021 17:07

Sorry!! I meant to say ALTERNATIVE to AZ!

ShrinkingViolet9 · 16/05/2021 17:13

It had said:

"And a member of the JCVI says they will be looking into whether to reverse the recommendation that under 40s should have an alternative to the AstraZeneca vaccine to speed up the rollout."

though I can't find the page now where it had said this.

That surprised me too. Go phoned husband last week (over 40) and arranged an appointment for last Friday. Then two days later they phoned me (under 40) and said I could come in the next day but I asked if they had any available for Friday so I could go with my husband and they got me one 10 minutes after his.

However apparently the way they did it was they had 15 people booked for each 10 minute appointment! A volunteer was telling us about it when we were there.

ShrinkingViolet9 · 16/05/2021 17:16

@DixonD

Indeed, that's why I said that it is currently unclear.

midnight90 · 16/05/2021 17:17

I'm 30 and I'm fed up of waiting 😭just want it to come around now as I want to start trying for a baby.

rainbowfairydust · 16/05/2021 17:18

I don't think it will speed it up though will it... They've cast doubt on the safety of AZ for under 40s so alot of people in that age range are going to refuse it.. They can't just take that recommendation off the table because they want more people vaccinated and AZ is easier to get that done with ffs
