I can see that too now - is anyone being given a choice though?? It's very odd.

Confusedaboutlots · 13/05/2021 10:11

hi. born march 1985, london. no health conditions.

so am 36 and got a text from local trust to book jab for 22nd may. it’s at a pfizer clinic so i wasn’t asked to make a choice

another friend similar age has had the same

strangely our partners who are same age in same age haven’t received texts

Confusedaboutlots · 13/05/2021 10:12

just received that text this am and there were plenty of slots available

Lucaslucas1612 · 13/05/2021 10:30

@FlatStanletta

Yes that’s right *@ferretface* - apparently it let 40 year olds book the night before the age went down to 40 too.

There it says that people who will be 40 before 1st July are eligible which is perhaps why it let me book since I will be 38 before the 1st July, even though I am still only 37 at the moment.

Yes I booked my vaccinations, age 40, a few dates before the official announcement. The site said 42 and over only but it still let me book.
Totallyaddictedtoshoes · 13/05/2021 10:35

I called the centre this morning to check, it's a pharmacy, they have both and the nhs allocate one to you. I booked yesterday before the official opening of 38/39 slots so was a bit concerned but have been allocated Pfizer. Looks like they are managing it properly then Smile

Frazzled2207 · 13/05/2021 10:39

@LemonCake79

Pharmacies are definitely offering Pfizer. One of our local pharmacies has set up a Pfizer clinic for this weekend at our village hall.

I have no idea how that works with storage etc but they must have overcome that barrier.

in the one I've volunteered at it gets delivered first thing by a courier, presumably having been stored in a super freezer somewhere. It it is then strictly timestamped (I think 6 hours from when it came out) .Anyone after that gets AZ which can be stored on site.

Got my Moderna, just waiting in the 15 minute observation before I can leave now.

The admin at the first check in questioned how I'd managed to book a day early as it was meant to open for under 40s today. I resisted saying everyone on Mumsnet booked yesterday Grin

Poppytime · 13/05/2021 11:21

What did you say Nordica?! I wonder if they'll ask me tomorrow too...not sure why it matters?!

Poppytime · 13/05/2021 11:22

Ps sounds like moderna at the Islington bdc then as you suspected?

nordica · 13/05/2021 11:23

Yes Islington BDC, lots of people our age here so I don't know why it mattered it was a day early...

All Moderna here and you get told that right away as you enter and give your booking reference. No split queues for age or anything.

nordica · 13/05/2021 11:24

And I said I found out early because the vaccines minister tweeted it - he did. Grin

Poppytime · 13/05/2021 11:25

Thanks for the info @nordica - hope you feel ok over the next few days

KitchenWarrior · 13/05/2021 11:33

Place marking as a keen 36yo.

Don't know anyone in my area (NE) who's been offered the jab earlier than the nhs roll out (carers/ health conditions excepted)

This is good to know and great you got your Moderna!

I went to my place this morning to see if I could squeeze in early (booked in for Monday) and it wasn't even open 😂 I'd probably have been told to just wait for my appt anyway, which is fine, but you never know!

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 13/05/2021 12:48

Dh is booked in! Bromsgrove on Saturday, as I said we're South Warks but he's working this weekend & has 2 jobs in that area that are only 5 minutes away so it made sense. It's quite nice as he did the rip out at this venue back in November to prepare it to become a vaccination centre. 2nd one booked for Redditch in August as no appts at the other one.

Just got to wait until I (32) can book now!

Nadhim was useful? Shock Blimey!

35, London. Got a message from GP. Booked slot for Sunday. DP, 40 received message a few days ago. There were lots of open slots available when I booked

Fantastic! Getting closer 🤞
ArtemisBean · 13/05/2021 13:51

Managed to book DH's first jab for next weekend. Loads of slots when I first looked at 8, but by 11 there were hardly any!

Silversun83 · 13/05/2021 14:03

Well, I've decided to risk it and booked this morning at the Pharmacy2u-administered site, which was still showing as an option. It was a choice of there, which is about 4 miles away or a nearly two-hour round trip..

I read the NHS press release last night and it said something about the website only allowing under 40s to book sites with Pfizer.. I guess just because they've only had AZ until now doesn't necessarily mean they won't have others now , particularly due to the new guidance!

It was only coming up with three days next week so perhaps that's when they're getting AZ-alternatives.

It would be a bit of a shambles if it did let you book sites only with AZ as how are you supposed to know which have which?!

@usernotfound0000, interested in how you got on this afternoon!

usernotfound0000 · 13/05/2021 14:16

@Silversun83 al done and it was Pfizer. They said they've just started doing them today.

squiglet111 · 13/05/2021 14:16

I booked yesterday for an appointment for next Sunday quite far away. Today got a text from my doctor's to phone and book for the local place and stated it would be pilfzer. So cancelled my original booking and re-booked for this. Will get it on Wednesday Smile

It seems we were in the after vaccine area at the same time Grin

At the second admin check in, where you had to go after the waiting room I heard them questioning someone next to me but I didn’t get asked. I turn 40 towards the end of the year and booked early yesterday afternoon.

Silversun83 · 13/05/2021 14:35

@usernotfound0000, great, thanks for letting me know. Imagine that's probably across the board.

Hope you don't get too many side effects!

Sunny360 · 13/05/2021 14:36

I still haven’t had any email/text confirmation through for the booking I made at half 4 yesterday (for tomorrow). Took screenshots of the reference numbers and details though anyway
