My arm still hurts a month on

Hi, I had my vaccine in my left arm about a month ago. It still really aches and I can’t sleep on my left as it’s too uncomfortable. It’s not so bad that I have to take pain killers but I would have thought after a month I wouldn’t be experiencing any discomfort from where I was injected.
Has anyone else experienced this?

I had this for 6 whole months after my flu jab last October. It will get better but takes absolutely ages

avenueq · 08/05/2021 16:18

Had mine 8th of March and still
Hurts, though getting better

Obakarama · 08/05/2021 20:57

My DP has this. I have read about other cases. I think it goes in time....

Schmetterling1 · 08/05/2021 21:00

Mine hurts on and off but a sharp sting not an ache. Nothing visible on the skin though.

osbertthesyrianhamster · 08/05/2021 21:02

Mine does, too, 2 months on. My hand goes on pins and needles more, too.

Obakarama · 08/05/2021 21:51

I get a lot of pins and needles nowadays, 6 weeks on

KingPong · 08/05/2021 21:53

Yes! Thought I was the only one. It wakes me up in the night it hurts so much. Been going on for about 5 weeks now.

JumpingFrogs · 08/05/2021 22:59

Had my jab 8 weeks ago. For first 4 weeks I was unable to do my bra up and generally struggled to dress myself. Couldn't raise my arm to peg washing on line either! It still hurts to sleep on my side, but can do most things now despite it hurting. It IS slowly improving, but now I'm worried about how I might react to the booster.

MuddlingMackem · 08/05/2021 23:11

Had mine 5 weeks ago and it still has some muscle ache. I realised that, as it was my left arm but I'm right handed, I wasn't moving it enough, it was seizing up, so I've made more effort to flex and move it the past couple of days and it is definitely improving.

Same here! I had it 23 March.

I had this with first jab. I rang GP as it felt like frozen shoulder ( which I had years ago). She said take ibuprofen and if it didn't help she would prescribe anti inflammatories, she also sent me a link to some exercises, it slowly got better.

GloriousGoosebumps · 09/05/2021 00:02

I had my first vaccine jab almost 12 weeks ago. My arm doesn't hurt when I'm not using it but whenever I reach out to pick something up there's a sharp pain. I've just had my second jab and the pain seems to have finally gone. So give it time.

avenueq · 09/05/2021 00:24

@NecklessMumster do you still have the link?

TruelyWonder · 09/05/2021 01:42

Had this with my whooping cough vaccine when pregnant. Couldn't push a heavy door open and a night was so hard to get comfortable. The pain was really up and down during all day. Lasted a couple of months.

In the end I got rid of it by doing a lot of arm exercises and daily Epsom salt baths. Pigging killed doing the exercises but it worked thank goodness.

Very interesting to find this thread and same here.
First jab felt a sharp stab, arm was sore the following day, several days later I developed a large itchy rash.
Second jab felt as if I was being punched in the arm. A few hours later my arm became very painful and later the same evening my whole arm was so painful I could not even move it. Miraculously much better 24 hrs later.
However ever since I have been suffering with pain from inside my shoulder, with various pain up and down my whole arm including pins and needles in my fingers.
I had my last jab April 9th and obviously worrying if it is related to the jab and wondering how on earth it can be?

Blue565 · 09/05/2021 14:36

Press ups helped mine get better, no idea why

JS87 · 09/05/2021 16:56

My left shoulder still hurts and I’m wondering if that’s from my flu jab. I had covid jab in right arm. It’s a really odd pain and physio couldn’t work out what was causing it.

Bigpinkslippers · 09/05/2021 17:11

I got a reaction at the injection site, raised red lump which lasted weeks, gradually went down and I've now got a pea sized one. Strange thing is I have a divot in my arm about 4 inches long going around my arm, its like there's no fat there. If I knew that could happen I would have asked for it in my bum ( I could do with less fat there)

NRE20 · 11/05/2021 07:55

I had pain and stiffness for 2 months afterwards. Had the AZ, so phoned GP, as the area of pain was so concentrated, I was concerned about potential clotting. Dr said muscle had been damaged and that keeping it mobile and taking ibuprofen would help ease it. It’s better now, right before my 2nd jab. I did read that getting the wrong angle with an injection can cause damage. I guess if newly qualified vaccinators doing jabs all day could get the occasional one slightly wrong!
I have no idea where to get them to stick this second jab. I avoided my writing arm last time! They did say I could have it in my leg, but I’m not sure whether the person doing the jab would have been trained for that and if it’s simple enough to do!

CathyTurnbull · 11/05/2021 21:29

Seems to be quite a common problem unfortunately

Just seen this - sorry, started my own one. I’m experiencing this.

EdgeOfFortyNine · 11/05/2021 21:43

I wake up every morning with a sore/ numb arm, some days I have pins and needles in my hand too. The numbness goes off through the day, then comes back again. Three weeks since AZ jab.

Mytholmroyd · 11/05/2021 21:50

How interesting - me too! I thought they must have gone into the joint bursar or something as it was done very high up on my shoulder. Still cannot lift my arm above horizontal, get pins and needles and cannot fasten my bra etc. It's very painful. Been 6 weeks now.

Iwasonceabrownie · 11/05/2021 22:13

My first jab made my arm so red and swollen you could have fried an egg on it, this went on for 3 weeks. Second jab, absolutely nothing.
