@ChloeCrocodile

Being double vaccinated means you are at far lower risk now than unvaccinated teachers - especially those who cannot be vaccinated due to ttc. So it is a bit of a pisstake to start telling unvaccinated people they need to be prepared to accept a higher risk than you are currently experiencing.

If masks are so useless / unnecessary then surely they should be getting rid of them in shops, pubs, churches etc on the 17th too. But they are being kept in those places, so clearly this isn't about following science so much as pandering to public opinion.

I say all this as someone desperate to get rid of masks. I'm happy to take the risk for myself but worry about what it will do to spread across the country if covid is allowed to go largely unchecked in many (if not most) schools.

And you know that for a fact do you? You know that even with 2 jabs I'm far less likely to have any I'll health than a healthy 25 year old teacher. My kids go to school. I have to mix with people. Why do comments have to get personal? I'm not allowed to have an opinion that I'm pleased my daughter wont be in a mask for 6 hours a day. Really? Honestly the vibe on here is just horrible sometimes. Don't know why I bother. So last thing I'm saying I'm flipping pleased to have received an email from my daughters school that there will be no masks on children. I think it's great news and a step on the road to normality. Sorry if the covid lovers find that hard to take.

Well, the thing is call, you won’t acknowledge it as such, will you? So a bit daft to get into it. I think repeatedly saying ‘you haven’t been in school since October’ (I think that was designed to express disbelief I’d taught in a mask at all) doesn’t come across very pleasantly, but I can’t say I particularly care.

Either way, I have taught in a school in a mask and so I think I can comment.

We won’t all agree. Such is life.

Toomanymuslins · 12/05/2021 17:57

Well - I was pleased too palace!

Sorry if the covid lovers find that hard to take.

And this is who you really are.

Toomanymuslins · 12/05/2021 18:02

Opted out? Giraffe, did you expect me to give birth in school or something? Confused

chaosrabbitland · 12/05/2021 18:03

@Thunderpunt

I hope this is true, my son might start wearing his hearing aids again. He currently refuses to as each time he has to remove his mask they ping out and embarrass him. So he can't hear, can't lipread and just refuses to go maskless as the teachers who don't know him are constantly on at him to show his exemption card, embarrassing him further. This is good news for us for sure!
iv just got a nhs hearing aid for loss in my left ear , im so sorry your son is having this problem and also im very relieved to know its just not me that had the blasted thing pinging out every time i put on or take off the mask , i was so pleased to get it as its so frustrating to not hear properly , but its more aggro than its worth to keep putting it in again so im not wearing mine either , im happy for your son , im just waiting for when retail staff of which i am one dont have to wear them either , then i actually might be able to hear fully again !
FrippEnos · 12/05/2021 18:06

Toomanymuslins

It was to point out that you had missed much of the work that that went into teaching those that were constantly in and out of school. between then and lockdown.

But if you must interpret it that way then feel free to do so.

You said But I have found the whole pandemic teaching horrible. I started ML early because of it.
Toomanymuslins · 12/05/2021 18:08

I’ve interpreted it that way because it clearly says “opting out”, as if I just couldn’t be bothered or something!

Toomanymuslins · 12/05/2021 18:10

Yes giraffe Hmm

I started three weeks before I originally planned because walking all round the school carrying books, resources and other paraphernalia at seven and a half months pregnant was hard.

That is not ‘opting out’.

That is not ‘opting out’.

You'd have thought you'd have a bit more empathy for your colleagues who had to continue teaching in increasingly worse conditions...

Toomanymuslins · 12/05/2021 18:16

I have plenty of empathy giraffe Hmm

I hate masks but I wear them for precisely that reason.

But I was still quite pleased to see they won’t be in classrooms at the time of my return. It’s not difficult to understand.

palacegirl77 · 12/05/2021 18:23

I wonder who reported my post?

Onceuponatime1818 · 12/05/2021 18:25

I think personal attacks are not productive and pretty immature.

But anyone at work at 7 and a half's month pregnant finds it hard - not just teachers.!
Toomanymuslins · 12/05/2021 18:47

I actually cannot believe I am having to defend starting maternity leave slightly early on Mumsnet Confused

It’s a bit worrying, really.

Apologies, I don't care when you started Mat Leave. Leave when ready. I was just concerned with the element of leaving because you were struggling due to being a teacher as if was harder for teachers. all women can struggle at that time of pregnancy.
TheSunIsStillShining · 12/05/2021 18:55

@Toomanymuslins
I keep misreading your name, but when I look at it correctly it still baffles me. What (and how many?) things do you have that are made of muslin? :)

cantkeepawayforever · 12/05/2021 18:58

I assume it refers to baby muslin cloths ... anyone with a sicky baby will know that you can't have too many...

Toomanymuslins · 12/05/2021 19:04

I didn’t even think of that sun Sad it was just supposed to reference we have a baby so wherever I go in my house there’s a muslin square. I might name change though as I don’t want anyone to think it’s intended to be horrible!

Onceuponatime1818 · 12/05/2021 19:05

@Toomanymuslins

I just admit I read it wrongly and reported your name!’

Toomanymuslins · 12/05/2021 19:06

I can see why you did - I promise it wasn’t intended to be horrible! I’ll NC now!
