A twist and a flip.

Do try harder.

I hope you’re not my child’s teacher with this use of grammar.

The experiment begins then.

Not really. Everything is opening up again. Social distancing is coming to an end. In the next few weeks adults will be free to chat away maskless in the pub, exercise in groups indoors, travel abroad. Children can currently go to indoor trampoline parks with 100 other kids maskless. Now the vulnerable (other than children) are vaccinated covid can be treated like every other virus. Are people really advocating that children continue to wear masks for 6 hours a day whilst adults get back to normal and don't need to? And what is the point when they are free to mix indoors outside of school? Literally no point in a couple of weeks.

HazeyJaneII · 10/05/2021 18:39

To be honest I think Pastanred enjoys being the 'shock value teacher'...which is a bit tragic really. I must remember to ignore!

Sillysop92 · 10/05/2021 18:40

@mrshoho

Yes, you are quite right FrippEnos, they've actually had a reckless approach to schools from way back.

It really wouldn't have been difficult in the great scheme to supply teachers and hearing impaired students with clear masks. Certainly since April at least.

They have certainly in my school but most of them are pretty useless and are very uncomfortable to wear all day. They fog up and are very moist. We have trialled several, all of which are not very effective and also the antifog spray unless you want to pay £££ for it, which isn't practical for school budgets.
Mistressinthetulips · 10/05/2021 18:42

If you're really a teacher Pastanad you should be ashamed of the rule breaking you have indulged in throughout.

I think it was because if they vaccinated school
Staff that would be admitting schools are not as safe as they are making out[/quote]
That makes sense. Sad that they are happy to risk teachers lives tho

Toomanymuslins · 10/05/2021 18:44

should be ashamed Hmm

silly I had one of those clear visors but it felt a bit like teaching through a bathroom window!

Malteser71 · 10/05/2021 18:46

Great news

noblegiraffe · 10/05/2021 18:46

pasta seems to be ignoring the scientific advisors and trying to frame concern as silly teachers.

I wonder why.

squiglet111 · 10/05/2021 18:47

@Pastanred

No just a bit embarrassed that teaching staff on here can’t even read a chart

Many on here shouldn’t be in the profession

I assume you've been vaccinated then? Easy to judge from the other side....
Mistressinthetulips · 10/05/2021 18:47

For breaking rules and then going in to a classroom to teach other people's children and mix with other staff? Too bloody right.

Mistressinthetulips · 10/05/2021 18:48

That was to Toomanymuslins

Are we moaning, or simply concerned? The very last thing my exam classes need right now is another dose of remote learning.
ThatIsMyPotato · 10/05/2021 19:06

@Pastanred

Teachers don’t need adding because those at risk have been vaccinated

Why don’t people get it?

I do get it thanks. The people most at risk have been vaccinated but teachers are exposed to a lot of children and it would help reassure them if they could have the jab out of turn. Especially now all the most at risk groups have had at least 1.
mrshoho · 10/05/2021 19:07

No, no advocating that. But if masks are no longer recommended in schools then I see no reason why they should be required indoors anywhere else including shops, banks, post office etc. Indoor gatherings of 6 in pubs and restaurants are restarting but as far as I understand masks will be required when you are not seated. Far from back to normal on 17th May.

Wakemeuuuup · 10/05/2021 19:09

My kids headteacher has already said he has to think about whether to get rid of masks or not as they've only had 1 case since March 8th and we're currently in a surge testing area

Monkeytennis97 · 10/05/2021 19:15

@FourOnTheHill

Those who think we should continue wearing masks in schools should really try teaching in them. I do not believe they are helping otherwise I might support their use in spite of the problems they cause.
I've been teaching in mine since September. I use a mic headset to amplify my voice. I will continue to wear it after next Monday until (at least) I am double jabbed (have had one jab so far in March).
DipSwimSwoosh · 10/05/2021 19:17

0 Covid deaths in England, Scotland and Ireland. How can mask wearing in schools be justified?

MrsHamlet · 10/05/2021 19:50

For the same reason it can be justified in public transport

TeddingtonTrashbag · 10/05/2021 20:08

If you saw an out of control truck hurtling towards you as you crossed the road
What a ridiculous analogy - totally disproportionate.

IloveJKRowling · 10/05/2021 20:09

Because prevention is better than cure (which is lockdown, once cases get out of control).

TeddingtonTrashbag · 10/05/2021 20:09

It’s not as if it is likely to be illegal to wear masks in schools -the drama llama fringe can continue if they like.

OP posts:
noblegiraffe · 10/05/2021 20:14

Are the scientists who said it was very important to continue their use in schools 'drama llamas'?
