As of Friday 30th April

34.3m first jabs
14.9m second jabs

have been given in the UK. This means that 65% of all adults have some level of protection and 28% are fully vaccinated.

Additionally evidence is currently suggesting that the vaccines are effective against the Brazilian and Indian variants 🥳

@InMySpareTime

Our WiFi is no better though, and Bill Gates hasn't given any instructions...

Of course not - nothing changes for the first 2 weeks after your jab, didn’t you know?

@CaveMum

Happy Jab Day to all my fellow Wednesday folk! I have just received AZ and am sat in the car park for my mandatory 15 mins. The nurse that did mine said “don’t lock the doors and if you feel ropey honk your horn and we’ll save you!”

I am also the proud owner of a sticker Grin

🥳🥳🥳

I didn't get a pigging sticker with my AZ. Can't believe they would leave me with only the vaccine to protect me.

I may get independent SAGE on the case or the guardian newspaper.

@TruelyWonder I did consider plonking myself down on one of the Pfizer chairs Grin but I did it, second dose of AZ and didn't feel a thing.

Still no sticker tho, it better work despite that WinkGrin

Trust me variant wise at the moment AZ is a marvellous vaccine. Only one we know that gives the India variant a good slap. Though the others should do the same too. More good research out today on that too.

Side effects wise drink water, drink water, drink water. People say that helps with all the jabs. No idea if true 🤷‍♀️

Clots wise we still drive don't we and do that every day. The vaccine is a one/two off. Then if you are healthy it has started to look like a booster won't even be needed.

And also we are up to 11 months post vaccine with people still having antibodies. Obviously that is a rolling research thing and will become more each weekGrin So people are now saying these jabs could potentially last us more than 2/3 years. Now that would be quite something.

My sister said both times she had the jab it felt like a mild hangover the next day. So you might as well go for it😂

CaveMum · 12/05/2021 18:22

I’ve been told to drink lots of water too. My colleague, who had hers last week, said she took paracetamol every 4 hours for 24 hours after her jab and didn’t get any side effects bar the obligatory sore arm, so I’m giving that a go too! Not sure when the side effects generally start kicking in but I’m coming up on 7 hours post jab and nothing yet.

EasterIssland · 12/05/2021 18:31

Booked for the second jab next week. I did volunteering today so asked when would I hear and they’ve booked me

I thought that was just for Pfizer. After my AZ jab I was allowed straight on my bike to work.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine in tonight's speech:

"Between January 1st and April 13th this
year, of all the people hospitalized at the Cleveland Clinic for COVID-19,
99.75 percent of them had NOT been vaccinated."

Well vaccines are working very well there aren't they. I wish they would give us this type of information on the government website. Hospital admissions and the percentage that are vaccinated and unvaccinated

Dementedswan · 13/05/2021 07:34

How are the Wednesday jabbers this morning? Sore arm, muscle aches and slight headache so far. Probably get the dc off to school and just pottering around today.

BruceAndNosh · 13/05/2021 08:41

Had my second yesterday at an online booking centre, not a GP hub.
In a central large supermarket in a fairly large town.
Absolutely empty at 1030 in the morning.
Went from door to check in to sitting down with vaccinator in less than a minute.
Lovely for me, but where was everyone else?

CaveMum · 13/05/2021 10:11

How are yesterday’s jabees feeling? Bizarrely at 11pm last night I suddenly felt very queasy and had to rush to the loo and was sick once. No idea if it was jab related or food related - I have a sensitive stomach and if something is slightly off it makes me sick and I did have chicken in a cream based sauce for dinner last night.

Other than that I woke up at 4am with a slight headache so took some paracetamol and went back to bed and not a bother since. Slightly tender arm but otherwise I appear to be side effect free now.

TruelyWonder · 13/05/2021 10:24

My arm hasn't even got a mark on it. Not sore or anything. Perfectly normal.

I do have the sensation in my forehead I get if I read without my glasses. No pain but I am on lots of medication anyway. So doubt I would feel much.

Not the best person to talk about side effects really. I rattle to much with my tabletsGrin

Wakemeuuuup · 13/05/2021 13:21
