As of Friday 30th April

34.3m first jabs
14.9m second jabs

have been given in the UK. This means that 65% of all adults have some level of protection and 28% are fully vaccinated.

Additionally evidence is currently suggesting that the vaccines are effective against the Brazilian and Indian variants 🥳

Cavemum that is interesting. Thank you ❤

Very reassuring really. Backs up what I have said else where though. People need to go get that second jab. The first should keep them out of hospital but the second is needed to try and stop them getting covid in the first place. One jab leaves you more vulnerable to infection.

If we want to keep the India variant at bay we need as many people as possible with both jabs. AZ works very well against this variant but not as fully as possible unless you get both doses.

Lecture over😂

Thank you puzzled for your answer. Before the schedule change had heard we might be 4 weeks early. Now I think on time is probably right 🤷‍♀️

Great numbers! We are so so close to first dose + second dose = 100%!

And I am now an Oxford girl! I will be in tomorrow’s figures.

TruelyWonder · 08/05/2021 16:05

Brilliant an over 500k day🥳🥳🥳 without Wales too

Congratulations Mum🥳🥳🥳

Hoping to grab my own Oxford AZ on Wednesday. I am 46 but had to delay my first dose until now. Exciting stuffStar

Mumoftwoinprimary · 08/05/2021 16:12

66.8% first doses! 2 in every three adults have now had at least one vaccination!

TruelyWonder · 08/05/2021 16:32

Now that is a thought isn't it❤

TruelyWonder · 08/05/2021 16:34

I just can't wait for first doses to get to 70%

To me anything more after that is just icing on the cake Wine

PuzzledObserver · 08/05/2021 16:37

Yes, I’m delighted that we’ve passed 2/3 adults having first dose,. I think it’s going to top 90% eventually.

buttery81 · 09/05/2021 07:25

I can’t believe over two thirds of all UK adults have now had their first dose - stupendous!! And we’re really racing through the second doses too. To be over 17 million already (and almost at one third of all UK adults) is fabulous!

Why is 70% the magic number @TruelyWonder?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 09/05/2021 08:27

I wonder how they are going to handle students many of whom are likely to be in one location for their first and a different one for their second if they are offered vaccines in June. (which I really hope they are!)

lurker101 · 09/05/2021 11:52

You can book your second dose at a different location, so it’ll likely be up to the students to think ahead to where they want their second dose when booking, or reschedule if they make the wrong choice.

Bordois · 09/05/2021 15:23

637,631 vaccinations in

My uni DD had her first dose at the GP clinic at home during the Easter hols and has managed to book her second dose via the National booking website in her uni city. Unfortunately it’s ended up being right in the middle of her exams so fingers crossed any side effects will be mild.

JennyWreny · 09/05/2021 15:46

That was in reply to OYBBK and lurker btw. Although she had AZ and maybe will be more complicated with other vaccines that aren’t as widely available.

Great numbers today btw 🎉🎉🎉

lunar1 · 09/05/2021 15:52

How long do we think it will be when the first and second doses are similar daily numbers? My graph reading isn't good enough to work out how many weeks until the second doses aren't in have caught up.

TruelyWonder · 09/05/2021 15:52

Over 600k again 🥳🥳🥳

Hopefully England can start equalling out those first and second doses soon. The others have already it seems.

Buttery81 70% is just my own target to get over. I want to see it pasted nationally, in every region and in every BAME category. More than 70% in all these ways with the unexpected way the vaccines work in the real world would be amazing. To me anyway. Obviously 90% would be more amazing Grin

TruelyWonder · 09/05/2021 15:55

We are supposed to have past the peak for second doses. So hopefully not long at all. Plus the last big push to get everyone their first dose is starting. No actual figures or graphs from me though.

I would have thought the newspapers or Twitter would have provided us with some lovely prediction graphs by now 🤷‍♀️

I was looking for graphs but couldn't find any! Though I'm in greater Manchester so all my local press is focused on Bolton 😬
TruelyWonder · 09/05/2021 16:08

Yes Bolton is a worry☹

TruelyWonder · 09/05/2021 17:05

Official figures show that more than 17.6 million people have now received both jabs, with England and Northern Ireland both estimated to have given two doses to 33.6 per cent of their adult population - slightly ahead of Wales (33.4 per cent) and Scotland (33.1 per cent).

Responding to the figures for England, Dr Nikki Kanani, GP and medical director for primary care at NHS England, said: 'Yet another incredible NHS milestone has been reached as one in three adults in England have now had both doses of the Covid vaccine - meaning that they have maximum protection from the virus.

'Reaching this milestone is no accident - it is down to months of hard work and everyone in the NHS who has played a role in this is helping to protect millions of people from serious illness and saving lives.'

Meanwhile, 35,371,669 people in the UK have now received a first dose of vaccine - the equivalent of 67.2 per cent of the adult population. Wales has given a first dose to 76.2 per cent of its adult population, ahead of Northern Ireland (66.9 per cent), England (66.8 per cent) and Scotland (65.4 per cent).
