As of Friday 30th April

34.3m first jabs
14.9m second jabs

have been given in the UK. This means that 65% of all adults have some level of protection and 28% are fully vaccinated.

Additionally evidence is currently suggesting that the vaccines are effective against the Brazilian and Indian variants 🥳

It's apparently true!

www.telegraph.co.uk/global-health/science-and-disease/coronavirus-news-covid-new-lockdown-rules-roadmap-stage-4/

All over-18s in England able to book a vaccine this week, says NHS chief

PuzzledObserver · 15/06/2021 16:28

Blocky's looking good - 79.4% 1st jab, 57.4% 2nd.

I'm predicting Thursday for 80% 1st jabs and Sunday at the latest for 60% 2nd.

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 15/06/2021 19:06

According to someone on Reddit (in the GetJabbed subreddit), the website is now allowing 21/22 year olds to book but the front page advice hasn't yet been updated (which I remember happening when I was booking mine as an over 45).

Thought you might all like to know Smile

We’ve hit 30 million second doses!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/06/2021 20:24

Thanks Raptor, dd tried, but it isn't letting her in yet.

buttery81 · 16/06/2021 00:31

Is anyone else ridiculously excited that we’re about to reach the penultimate line on the block chart for 1st doses? I am! Grin

PuzzledObserver · 16/06/2021 08:46

@buttery81 I’ll join you being ridiculously excited - woo hoo! And then I’ll be ridiculously excited for 60% 2nd jabs and then 66.7% (2/3) 2nd jabs too. Ridiculously excited is kind of what I do.

TruelyonelastSchlep · 16/06/2021 10:02

21s and over can now book 🥳

Woohoo! Another DN just got booked in. That's our lot done now.
TruelyonelastSchlep · 16/06/2021 11:17

Hugo has got himself a promotion by the sounds of it.

"I'm excited (and slightly intimidated) to be taking over from @NigelpMorris as political editor of @theipapernext month. Big shoes to fill!"

Hopefully he won't be to distracted to see us good until at least we reopen properly

I have just got back from a vaccination centre in Cheddar where they were allowing anyone to walk in for a jab. There were mostly booked appointments but also some who came for a second jab early but I was amazed at how some of the people being vaccinated were.

One lad came in for a booked appointment with two others in the car, one of the others had had his vaccine yesterday and I persuaded the third to have his vaccine as he was there.

So pleased to see how many youngsters want their jabs.

East London boroughs - there is mass vaccination at the Stadium in the Queen Elizabeth Park, Stratford this Saturday - booking required.

I really want you to tell us the vaccine centre was in a caveGrin

Brilliant news about the youngsters ❤

Hugo has not forsaken us yet❤

Unfortunately we weren’t in a cave but a prefabricated barn!

buttery81 · 17/06/2021 07:06

We will almost certainly complete two more blocks on the chart today - and a whole line for 1st doses. Wahoo! Grin

buttery81 · 17/06/2021 07:23

Also, it’s going to start getting really interesting to watch 1st dose numbers in the coming weeks, as we see how far we can go in terms of total number vaccinated.

We’re currently on 42,021,089 1st doses. According to gov.uk the total adult population is 52,658,006. It would be fantastic to hit 50 million 1st doses but that would be 95% of the adult population, which is very high.

What are people’s thoughts on the total number of 1st doses we will end up at?

prettyvisitor · 17/06/2021 07:30

DS booked his first for Monday and second is four weeks later

pjani · 17/06/2021 08:29

@buttery81 I think we might start to run out of first dosers sooner than we think… I’ll say 46m people will roll up their sleeves by the end of July. What do you think?

Late to this thread but love it!

I was actually thinking whether they are going to bring forward the second doses for the young people … as these vaccines work well as well for 3/4 weeks gap between them
buttery81 · 17/06/2021 08:51

@pjani I’m hoping we will get to the last row of squares at least. To do that we will need 47,918,785 people to be jabbed (91%)!
