As of Friday 30th April

34.3m first jabs
14.9m second jabs

have been given in the UK. This means that 65% of all adults have some level of protection and 28% are fully vaccinated.

Additionally evidence is currently suggesting that the vaccines are effective against the Brazilian and Indian variants 🥳

@Frazzled2207

Volunteered a local gp site this am, when I’ve been before has been older second doses, today was full of very chuffed much younger folk getting their first Pfizer!
Yep, I was doing data entry at GP hub today and it was great to be entering DOBs in 1980s!
FlattestWhite · 22/05/2021 08:41

predictions for what the blocky charts will eventually get to? (or obviously not the charts, the data ,but you know what I mean).

90% overall? Higher? It's at 71% now and they are just starting on low-mid 30s, with some late 30s/early 40s who've booked but not had it yet. Presumably most above that have now had a first dose if they want one, so that must be an approximate cap on what the eventual max take-up will be (if they don't change their minds). How close it would get to that will depend on what take up in younger ages is like.

I hope my local one starts to pick up soon now that 30s are eligible, as that's a huge chunk of the population. The surrounding areas are broadly in line with the national stats (70/40) but locally only 40/22 or so - but with reports that it's hard to find local sites when booking, which suggests there might be a huge backlog of people waiting now that they are down to the 30s. Lots of scientists, so I'm assuming that eventual take-up here will be high, but it'll just take a while to get there. Methods of data counting/population/transient location of population etc will also be having an effect on those stats, of course.

I've followed these threads from the start, 33 and finally going for my vaccine today Grin, so relieved as lots of my colleagues have been very unwell with Covid. Most of them younger than me unfortunately.

EasterIssland · 22/05/2021 08:52

Im also surprised at the local vac 50/30
Sounds so low comparing to national and yet our infection rate is 14,
Also many people are struggling to get appointments in town, seems like they’re always busy and are even being sent to Luton from south west of the country. Hope it’s because we’re a big uni town so many will be young despite they will have it at their hometowns. It’s everything I can think of

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 22/05/2021 11:55

I am very interested that every single postcode-of-a-friend that I feed in, for places all over the country, has a lower vaccination-rate percentage than the one for the country over all. Where is it that has the larger numbers to bring the overall percentages up?

Chiltern!
AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 22/05/2021 12:28

Heh!

thatgingergirl · 22/05/2021 13:19

BruceAndNosh - you're right! I live in an adjacent area and the percentages here are lower than the national figures. I was really surprised.

Really high vaccination rates in the south west isn't there

EasterIssland · 22/05/2021 13:33

@TruelyStruttingHotpants

Really high vaccination rates in the south west isn't there
That’s why I’m so surprise that the biggest city in the south west only has 50-30%!

Been in my shift this morning. Everyone was so happy to be getting their vaccines ! I like those days that it’s so busy that the shift flies by

EasterIssland · 22/05/2021 13:35

563,468 vaccinations in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 yesterday - 192,008 1st doses, 371,460 2nd doses

Other nations report later/tomorrow

PuzzledObserver · 22/05/2021 14:10

My prediction for Blocky’s end point:

1st doses: 93%
2nd doses: 82%

One of the new jabs (Johnson?) is intended as a single dose, so people who get that obviously won’t get a second dose. Some will decide for whatever reason not to get a second, and there always some people who die before they get the chance to have their 2nd. Not because of the jab, just anyway (I know someone this happened to).

TruelyStruttingHotpants · 22/05/2021 15:47

England's numbers looking good today 🥳

Blocky's end results. Let me think. Puzzled you are right we will probably have a slightly lower second dose situation for various reasons. So my prediction for the adult population is

90% first doses
87% second doses

RainbowCrayons · 22/05/2021 16:15

How will the blocky work with the J&J? Will it count only as a first or will it be a 1st and a 2nd in one go for data purposes?

Mumoftwoinprimary · 22/05/2021 17:29

The obvious solution would be to have a different colour (dark green???) for J&J.
TruelyStruttingHotpants · 22/05/2021 19:45

Two doses needed!

It’s still not approved in the Uk- at this rate everyone will have got their jabs before it gets approved. It might well be useful for boosters though.
EasterIssland · 23/05/2021 14:20

So happy about Hugo’s update

686,264 vaccinations in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 yesterday - 178,251 1st doses, 508,013 2nd doses

Other nations still to come but clear this is an enormous day. 1 in 3 people in UK have now had both doses.

Reckon this will probably turn out to be the 2nd biggest day since the start of the rollout.

Frazzled2207 · 23/05/2021 14:32

It will be over 700k I reckon and definitely incredible

EasterIssland · 23/05/2021 16:02
