As of Friday 30th April

34.3m first jabs
14.9m second jabs

have been given in the UK. This means that 65% of all adults have some level of protection and 28% are fully vaccinated.

Additionally evidence is currently suggesting that the vaccines are effective against the Brazilian and Indian variants 🥳

Arghhh! I'm coming back here! The anti vax threads and symptom analysis is doing my head in!

I'm now 8 days past 2nd dose, all you Wednesday jobbers... Still here?

Dementedswan · 20/05/2021 19:55

Jabbers even Grin

Dementedswan · 20/05/2021 19:59

Its doing my head in with the az haters. Dh had Pfizer, he's diabetic, after his first his levels were hard to control, after his second he barely sleeps as he's constantly injecting and controlling it. He slept 4 hours last night, woke up did teat and sugars were over 30.. took 6 jabs and a few hours to bring it down.

EasterIssland · 20/05/2021 20:13

Sorry to hear about your dh @Dementedswan. Did he manage to get control of it after the 1st one?

Dementedswan · 20/05/2021 20:23

Kind of, by doing blood tests every hour. It's been higher since his second jab on 5th May. So he's tired from constant testing , injection and sugar control x

Dementedswan · 20/05/2021 20:24

He went to bed last night ok, knew his sugars were slightly high at 21. Adjusted his insulin but woke couple hours later and they were at 30 +

Dementedswan · 20/05/2021 20:26

Dh is in his 40s he's been diagnosed type one since a baby at 9 months old. So he knows how to deal with it and adjust his meds.

Yep, I had my second AZ last Wednesday too. Stung slightly more going in than the first one but no sore arm afterwards at all. Nada. O side effects (apart from not being able to stop smiling)
EasterIssland · 20/05/2021 20:56

I had my second az yesterday.
Sore arm and have had fever for around 12 h. Feeling lightheaded. Took day off to rest. Work has been stressful, toddler and volunteering at vac centre on the weekends has meant I barely read during the weeks so it’s been good to take a day just for myself to spend it in bed. Thanks az !

EasterIssland · 20/05/2021 20:57

*I barely rest

GetTheGoodLookingGuy · 20/05/2021 21:17

I had my first jab yesterday. Our big vaccination hub has been offering 1st jabs to teachers and other school staff as walk-ins this week, so a couple of collegues and I went down after work yesterday... to discover they'd opened the offer up to uni students yesterday too and the queue was massive! We joined the queue at 4:25 and were told the wait could be 2-3 hours. I was done and out by 6:15 which wasn't quite two hours, so I guess that's pretty good! Only "side effect" is a sore arm, and maybe a headache but I'm not convinced that's related because it came on only a couple of hours post-jab.

The biggest issue today was that both I and the teacher I work with had our jabs yesterday in our dominant arms and therefore neither of us could reach up to write the date on the board, so we got the tallest child to write it as far up as they could reach!

GetTheGoodLookingGuy · 20/05/2021 21:18

It was a big surreal looking at the statistics today and seeing the latest vaccination data was as of yesterday, and thinking "one of those numbers is me!"

TruelyStruttingHotpants · 20/05/2021 21:20

Look how good blocky is looking ❤

We are now under 900 in hospital with covid

We have been in single figures for reported deaths in the last 6 days

Looking like everyone that wants and can have the jab will be a least one dose by end of June

If Bournemouth university is anything to go by hesitancy in the young won't be an issue. The sent out a message saying all the students could get the jab and ended up with hundreds in the queue.

(There is the right attitude EasterGrin)

TruelyStruttingHotpants · 20/05/2021 21:22

I forgot to add blocky🤦‍♀️

I like that you can see the block graph for the individual areas now - I hadn't known that before!! It is so much easier to visualise. But my area looks v bad, with only 40% first dose and 20% second, though it is also a very young city so I presume that accounts for it more than hesitancy. It is on the dashboard, when you put in your location postcode into the box.

TruelyStruttingHotpants · 20/05/2021 21:39

Yes the adding of local block graphs is very good. Like you my area is pretty low. London borough and in the bottom 10 apparently. Bit depressing but I do think we will have just enough to make a good difference in the end. Fingers crossed and all that.

thatgingergirl · 20/05/2021 21:45

Thanks for highlighting that FlattestWhite - I didn't know that information was available either!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/05/2021 21:50

Where are the blocks for individual areas please?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/05/2021 21:53

found it!

BruceAndNosh · 20/05/2021 22:49

Just had a look at Blocky for my local region. A tad above the national figures which I think reflects an older population (and one that does what it's told!)

EasterIssland · 21/05/2021 10:16

I wanna see blocks! how can I see them please?
