Pfizer second vaccine side effects

Robinonaspade · 01/05/2021 19:12

Hi, I have looked to see if anyone has had a reaction to their second injection, where they feel really cold and have a bad headache that doesn't go off with paracetamols? I couldn't spot anything.

It's been a week since the second dose and these symptoms keep coming on without warning. Just looking for reassurance and others people's experience!

Thanks.

I didn't have a headache but I felt freezing a just couldn't get warm.
I also seem to have missed a period too after my second dose.

Robinonaspade · 01/05/2021 19:22

Thanks, that's reassuring to hear, I hope you feeling warmer now. The vaccine is bound to mess with our bodies rhythms, let's hope things settle soon.

It's my dad that's complaining of feeling so cold, he was fine earlier. Said it comes on very quickly and he feels whacked.

Hoping it passes soon, especially as I can't be there to help at the moment!

My DH had his second on Tuesday. He was warned side effects may be worse, but they were virtually the same, very sore arm, muscle aches and very tired, in fact he slept all afternoon, woke up once saying he felt like he had flu and went back to sleep for another 2 hours. He felt back to normal the following day.

JamesAnderson · 01/05/2021 20:22

I felt tired and cold with a bit of a sore arm

LooksLikeImStuckHere · 01/05/2021 20:26

I had no side effects after first at all (other than a sore arm). After the second, I was absolutely wiped out for several days. Nauseous, dizzy and just so tired. That said, I was ok if I didn’t do too much, still managed to work so not bed ridden, just bleeurgh. Bit like morning sickness!

Have had headaches (now a week post vaccine) but I think they are hayfever.

LooksLikeImStuckHere · 01/05/2021 20:28

Was also shivery but I’m always cold so didn’t really think about it as a side effect.

Robinonaspade · 01/05/2021 21:14

Thanks for all the replies. I expected any side effects to have stopped by now but obviously it's different for everyone. Useful reading the comments here everyone has different symptoms, but most experienced symptoms closer to date of injection, just passed more quickly than a week.

Many thanks.

I haven't had my 2nd yet but after my first dose my worst side effects (swollen painful lymph nodes under left armpit) didn't come on until 12 days after the jab.

Robinonaspade · 01/05/2021 22:21

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady- that sounds painful, I hope your next dose is side effect free. Shows that nearly two weeks later your body is being primed. Thanks for the reply.

I was just concerned my Dad's symptoms might not be vaccine related, but reading your comment and others, his body could still be reacting to the vaccine.

I felt very tired, also hot /cold and a bit sick for a couple of days after my second jab whereas I felt fine after my first (apart from the sore arm). My colleague was affected similarly.

Robinonaspade · 01/05/2021 22:44

Thank you, interesting to hear how everyone reacts differently and at different times too. I'm glad the side effects didn't last too long for you.

Dad did feel sickly two days after vacation and been cold and headachy on and off since and in his words just feels 'off it'. Seems likely to be reaction then from reading the replies. I will keep in touch with him and hopefully his symptoms will go soon.

Nothing after first. Bright red and swollen patch on arm, very sore for a couple of days but that was it

QueenOfTheDoubleWide · 02/05/2021 00:30

Sorry, sore swollen red arm was after the second

TruelyWonder · 02/05/2021 00:35

My mother inlaw had Pfizer both does now and no side effects.

If you have side effects after a week I would speak to your GP. The danger is having the vaccine could be a coincidence and you have another medical problem.

MountainDweller · 02/05/2021 00:51

I was warned second one could be worse. Had a headache for 72 hours and a sore arm for 5 days. And mild fever - bit hot and dizzy, and tired. Fever was worse after the first one but head/arm after the second.

Search Covid vaccine side effects groups on Facebook and you’ll see the true side effects. Very sad and shocking.

motherstongue · 02/05/2021 00:54

I too had swollen lymph nodes which came on around 24 hours after my 2nd jab and lasted about 4 days. Was a little painful and a bit uncomfortable but didn’t stop me getting on with life. I had no symptoms after my 1st jab other than a sore arm.

TruelyWonder · 02/05/2021 02:49

Yep because Facebook is the foundation of all true medical knowledge 😂

Seriously I don't know anyone that has had more than a sore arm or a headache for a few hours. Paracetamol sort most peoples headaches.

They say only one in four even gets side effects. That seems pretty right by all the people I know. My husband had his second AZ on Friday and didn't even get the sore arm like last time.

Robinonaspade · 02/05/2021 06:31

Thanks for replies. Yes, so many different symptoms. I'm hoping he feels better today, if not I think a call to Dr's in order after bank holiday, or 111 if he's same given its been a week since injection.

Thanks.

I had a sore/felt bruised arm for 24 hours after first Pfizer jab. Was fully expecting second to be worse. Absolutely nothing. Not even a sore arm... deffo contact GP as if not vaccine related worth following up and if it is then symptoms might (should?) be reported I think...

Robinonaspade · 02/05/2021 07:42

Thanks, glad you suffered no side effects.

I agree about GP, I will have a chat with him later today. Hoping he's feeling better today! Feel so useless not being able to help at the moment.

I will look into the yellow card system mentioned earlier too, let him know.

Have been called for mine and after reading these I'm dreading it even more I'm pregnant with a 10m old to look after so don't have time to be in bed (can't ) really hope some people get mild symptoms

Alone97 · 02/05/2021 07:43

Had my 2nd yesterday and do feel worse then the 1st one.
Very sore arm (same with first) but also have a hungover feeling which I didn't have with the 1st.

Imnotbent · 02/05/2021 08:55

My first I didn’t even have a sore arm, my second I was so tired and cold, I had the fleece wrapped round me for days. My symptoms lasted about a week and I was so tired I had to watch line of duty on catch up! I couldn’t stay awake. For about 3 days I was whacked, like walking through treacle.

I’m ok now though and if it was my DF, like you, I would be keeping a close eye and speaking to GP if he didn’t pick up soon.

Robinonaspade · 02/05/2021 08:58

Mrs sunshine xxx - I hope you don't worry too much, I'm trying to remember that those people with mild symptoms probably won't be reading or posting on these threads as much as those who might be slightly worried. I understand what you mean about not being able to rest, and being pregnant too you are understandably concerned, but hopefully you will be like many who have no or little symptoms 🤞.

I've got my second dose too this week, and an ill member of family to look after, so I understand your concerns.

Here's hoping everyone's symptoms, if any are mild and short lived.

My Dad has just called and feels brighter at moment too! Here's hoping it stays that way!

Many thanks for all the replies.
