Pcr question

How quickly are people getting pcr results these days?
Had one of my kids tested this am - she has a cough - which is common for her and I'm sure not covid but obviously need to test her and in the meantime all the kids are home whilst we wait - is it quicker than last summer when I last had to do it?

Is it postal? Our results came back the evening of the following day after posting.

Worriedandonedge · 28/04/2021 16:01

No - it was a drive through at 9am this morning - 🤞for a sane day result so everyone can be back in school tomorrow

Haha! Same day but it will keep me sane too!

Usually early hours of the day after here

OddestSock · 28/04/2021 16:26

My daughter had a test 8am monday and we received the result in the early hours of Tuesday

farmergirl29 · 28/04/2021 16:41

Interested in these replies too as we had my son tested 9.30am yesterday morning at a drive through and I am still waiting. We got it the next day when we did a postal in Feb, so this is taking longer. I need them back at school......

My DD was tested at 9.30am yesterday and we got the results at 2.20am this morning, so extremely fast. I literally saw the text saying negative this morning and leapt out of bed to make her packed lunch. DH said it was the most enthusiastic he had seen me get out of bed in ages 🤣🤣

Frazzled2207 · 28/04/2021 17:07

I reckon tonight if you are lucky but perhaps early tomorrow.

Worriedandonedge · 28/04/2021 17:51

@Frazzled2207 & @Hartleyhare1206 oh I do hope so! I'm meant to be somewhere first thing tomorrow and I really don't want to let the person down...

Hubby had one recently and had results very quickly but I thought they may have been hurried as it was a pre test for a Hosptial appointment.
🤞🤞🤞🤞

Same with us. Really hoping for a quick turnaround. The best we've had is around 16 hours but last month we waited four days. (My daughter seems to get a cough with every snotty nose).

Imnothereforthedrama · 28/04/2021 17:55

We’ve had a few the next morning it’s arrived .

Worriedandonedge · 28/04/2021 19:19

@kirinm it's so frustrating - my DD2 always gets coughs... is this gonna be forever more?!!? (I mean I'm not questioning the now - I get it and am up for doing the right thing - just freaking ANNOYING!)

Anyone who's waiting today got lucky yet??? 🍀

Feel like I'm glued to the phone watching for the text!!!!

I think the chances of a result in less than 12 hours is a bit optimistic. I'm just keeping fingers crossed for something arriving overnight 🤞🏻🤞🏻
whatswithtodaytoday · 28/04/2021 19:31

Our last two have been 13 hours and 23 hours. Not too bad!

Worriedandonedge · 28/04/2021 20:49

Hubby had his in about 9 hrs! Must have been flagged for a "rush" I'm guessing as was a Hospital admission... I'd kinda just been hoping that was the standard...

if it doesn't come back tonight, bear in mind I've had some come back at 6/7 am.
farmergirl29 · 28/04/2021 21:14

We are on 36 hours now :( I am not feeling hopefully for school tomorrow.

Worriedandonedge · 29/04/2021 06:12

Email came through just after 11pm last night!!!! So 14 hours - pretty impressed...
Weirdly only by email though and not text too - so make sure watching your mails not just your text messages - hope you guys have received yours overnight too X

kirinm · 29/04/2021 07:16

I am starting to think ours has got lost. It will be 48 hours for us at 9.30am. I wish we had done a postal one now, I thought the drive through would be quicker :(

Worriedandonedge · 29/04/2021 08:38

Mine was drive through - I think you should phone see if they have...

We have tried this morning..... apparently they wont chase it until 5 days - but surely then it is too late to re-test!? Arggghh I am having visions of being stuck in for the full ten days as preschool and school quite rightly wont accept either back with the negative result for my son now.
