Changing rooms that are open.

I thought starting a thread where we can say whether changing rooms are open or not in stores. Government guidelines allow for them to be open now.

I tried to buy a bra yesterday in House of Fraser (don't ask). Changing rooms were closed. I cant buy the hundreds of bras online I need to try on while trying to work out what fits me now. So I gave up.

So. Please add to this list.

House of Fraser - closed.

Thumbs up to the Urban Outfitters I wandered into today. No time to try anything on though.

M&S - bra fittings, but general fitting rooms closed.

Bravissimo doing fittings.

If anyone knows about Levi or Gap it would be appreciated, DD desperately needs new jeans and because she's such a long-leggedy thing has to try them on Smile

YesThisIsMe · 21/04/2021 16:15

I went to GAP Oxford street yesterday and the changing rooms were open.

wingsnthat · 21/04/2021 16:43

@YesThisIsMe oh wow, how busy was central? I’m not brave enough to venture back to Oxford st yet!

Saisong · 21/04/2021 16:46

Haven't read the whole thread, but in case anyone finds it useful then Fat Face in Reading was allowing use of the changing rooms - one person at a time and they rotated use of each of the 4 cubicles to allow for airing/cleaning. They were very positive and friendly, and they have a great sale on atm!

YesThisIsMe · 21/04/2021 16:55

Busy but not mad - I was up there for other reasons yesterday evening so took advantage to drop into a couple of shops. Pretty normal for 7pm on a Tuesday in April pre-pandemic I’d say. The tubes were also fairly normal for 7pm on a Tuesday - I didn’t have to stand but I did have to sit next to someone.

lightand · 21/04/2021 18:31

In our small town, with small shops, none had changing rooms open. Except...

I was able to try on shoes in an independent shoe shop, so bought some quick!

Scarby9 · 21/04/2021 18:33

Seasalt open but try on 5 items only (had to be strategic with sizes).

Justanticipating · 21/04/2021 20:46

I went shopping today and came away with nothing for myself because I couldn't try anything on.

'Quiz' however had changing rooms open, with a max of 1 customer. I didn't find anything I liked annoyingly, all too dressy.

Onamissionn · 21/04/2021 20:49

Everywhere was closed when I went! I just bought several things in different sizes, tried on in the toilets and then returned ones That didn’t fit.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/04/2021 07:37

It's suddenly dawned on me as to why there was a massive queue for the loos yesterday.
Its absolutely rubbish for anyone with bladder/bowel/period issues. I certainly don't blame customers who need to try clothes on, what else are they supposed to do? But it does feel that it is becoming rather discriminatory.

If everyone is using public toilets to try clothes on they might as well open up changing rooms. A changing room is going to be more hygienic.

I always take a tape measure with me when clothes shopping.

Sparklingbrook · 22/04/2021 08:22

Urgh, trying things on in the loos? Sad

RampantIvy · 22/04/2021 08:32

My thoughts as well @Sparklingbrook

Generally in clothes shops there's a big sign saying not to take baskets/things not purchased into the loos. So are people queuing for the tills, buying something, queuing for the loos to try it on then queuing again at the tills for a refund? Confused
RampantIvy · 22/04/2021 11:43

I think so, yes.

constantsnaxking · 22/04/2021 12:00

Levi lakeside changing rooms open

TheOnlyMrsW · 22/04/2021 14:29

YesThisIsMe and constantsnaxking thank you, now I just have to work up to a shopping trip with a 15-year-old who only wears jeans and football kit out of school so manages two shops and gives up!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/04/2021 10:54

River Island, Fat Face and Apricot yes.

Next. No.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/04/2021 12:07

Debenham. There was only dust left. So I didn't check.
Gap - yes and successful clothes purchase.

Bumping this thread to see if anyone knows if Dorothy Perkins have opened their changing rooms? Messaged them on fb but no reply....

Last year they were insisting people buy clothes, take them to the public toilets to try on and return if they didn't fit. Ideal Hmm Not to mention the fact that it doesn't work for people on a low budget. Spend your £40, they don't fit, the store takes 7 days to process your refund. So you wait 7 days to try on the next size or style. Ridiculous.

headintheproverbial · 11/05/2021 22:11

John Lewis was open recently and Fenwick

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 11/05/2021 22:15

@LucilleTheVampireBat I don't think Dorothy Perkins stores exist anymore. Think it's all online only.

Theonlyoneiknow · 11/05/2021 23:10

I picked up a pair of trainers in Decathlon for my daugher to try on and then was an immediate tannoy announcement that no items were to be tried on
