World Economic Forum event

Two days ago, this event took place, re Scaling Up Digital ID.

www.weforum.org/events/global-technology-governance-summit-2021/sessions/scaling-up-digital-identity-systems

A written summary here

sociable.co/government-and-policy/vaccine-passports-drive-forced-consent-standardization-digital-identity-schemes-wef-summit/

It refers to vaccine passports in many ways.

Some posters seem to think it's about showing your vax status. It isn't. These tech developments are happening in front of us. No secrecy, no conspiracy. If you are happy with it, great.

Quotes include:

“I’m hoping with the desire and global demand for some sort of vaccine passport — so that people can get traveling and working again — will drive forced consent, standardization, and frankly, cooperation across the world” — Sandra Ro, CEO at Global Blockchain Business Council

“Our goal is to enable all life situations with this digital ID” — Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation

He hopes to achieve this in 3 years.

The whole thing is terrifying.

AcornAutumn · 11/04/2021 19:36

There's stuff on the government website about it

Here's just one item

@SmallTownSouthernGirl

Maya Angelou said a wise thing: "when someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time". Boris showed us his Big Tech, Big Surveillance colours when he made this speech soon after being elected. If only the media had shared it at the time, there would most likely have been public debate about it, but I certainly never saw it back then (September 2019).

Much of the audience seem to find it all quite amusing, but perhaps some of them are now feeling the same disquiet that we are. Over the last year, Boris has used the World Economic Forum's favourite term "build back better" enough times to show us he's onboard with the agenda - willingly or not.

People in a UN audience won't care. They will be chauffeured home, not sitting on the bus while the empty cycle lane doubles the journey.

Things are worse than the USSR days, because at least then there were other places to escape to.

I have seriously thought of emigrating if our liberties are not reinstated. Genuine question - any ideas as to where I could go?

@btwwhichonespink,

I can find no reference to the John F Kennedy speech to which you refer.

Apparently there was a rumour that he made a speech 7 days before he was assassinated speaking of a plot to enslave ‘every man, woman and child’.

This claim has been found to be unevidenced.

That link doesn't have anything to do with what my post said though.

Heysiriyouknob · 11/04/2021 20:03

Yes re JFK I have read about that speech.

He is widely known as the last real President of the USA. And look what happened to him. After him it's all puppets. Although jury out on Trump. He shook a lot of the establishment up.

Upthread someone asked about how people are brought into it all. They are born into it. People in power (I believe) are just a front. Democracy is smoke and mirrors to let us think we have some power over our lives. Leaders are planned years in advance. That's my thoughts anyhow.

Wildswim · 11/04/2021 20:07

@btwwhichonespink

John F Kennedy spoke of a shadowy organisation that really governed the world when he was president. He probably had more insight than most.
Reference?

There was definitely something funny about the Kennedys. And the so called 'curse'. I can't work out if they were a force for evil or good. They had good intentions, but they were also responsible for the development of media, spin, and an image-obsessed political leadership. They were also incredibly wealthy and privileged.

TheReluctantPhoenix · 11/04/2021 20:09

@Wildswim,

I was interested as to why @btwwhichonespink would say my quote had ‘nothing to do with what she was referring to’ without a link as to what she was referring to..

I think the whole world is more or less going to be roped into a technocratic tyranny, but at different rates. Some places will fall faster, others will be slower to conform.

The best bet is probably to choose a place with an agreeable climate, and live as simply and as self sufficiently as possible. Not necessarily in an off-grid hobbit house, but just trying to meet as many of your own needs as you can, and making sure you have strong community bonds.

I listened to a podcast about this type of thing actually, by someone who has also written a book about it. “How to Opt out of the technocratic state” by Derrick Broze. I’ve not read it, but intend to. It’s available for free online.

I’m thinking about going to NZ as I am eligible to live there, and I feel it’s probably a decade behind where the UK is now regarding the erosion of Civil Liberties and surveillance.

HumunaHey · 11/04/2021 20:31

I've found this so far. Kind of touches on it.

JFK Speech from April 27th 1961
Quotes from speech:
The very word "secrecy" is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths and to secret proceedings...Our way of life is under attack. Those who make themselves our enemy are advancing around the globe...no war ever posed a greater threat to our security. If you are awaiting a finding of "clear and present danger," then I can only say that the danger has never been more clear and its presence has never been more imminent...For we are opposed around the world by a monolithic and ruthless conspiracy that relies primarily on covert means for expanding its sphere of influence–on infiltration instead of invasion, on subversion instead of elections, on intimidation instead of free choice, on guerrillas by night instead of armies by day. It is a system which has conscripted vast human and material resources into the building of a tightly knit, highly efficient machine that combines military, diplomatic, intelligence, economic, scientific and political operations. Its preparations are concealed, not published. Its mistakes are buried, not headlined. Its dissenters are silenced, not praised. No expenditure is questioned, no rumor is printed, no secret is revealed

Speech gets interesting from 6 minutes in.

@BelleHathor

Thanks for linking that. I’ve never seen that speech before.
In the context of this thread it’s chilling.

TheReluctantPhoenix · 11/04/2021 20:53

@BelleHathor,

He is referring to the threat from the Cold War and the Soviet Union, not some shadow Illuminati conspiracy.

See the speech in full abs read para 17.

So, not that chilling in the context if this thread.

Wildswim · 11/04/2021 21:03

"And there is a very grave danger that an announced need for increased security will be seized upon by those anxious to expand its meaning to the very limits of official censorship and concealment"

This bit of the Kennedy speech is very prescient.

The speech must be read in the context of CIA operations which were out of control at the time. Particularly Operation Mockingbird where the CIA infiltrated the MSM to report propaganda en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Mockingbird and resulted in JFK initiating Project Mockingbird to locate the journalists who leaked classified information by ironically using the CIA. So yes it was about the Soviet Union but was also about more domestic threats where American entities had been infiltrated.

Thanks @Terracotta9 - that book looks very interesting. I'll give it a go.

I think I agree with you about how to swerve it as much as possible, although emigrating isn't really possible for me for a few reasons. NZ looks pretty attractive at the moment, though!

No one is going to be micro-chipped.

"Orwell's 1984, literally possible now and closer than ever."

Yeah... Just supplant the eternal war with Eurasia with a war on pandemics- both work equally well as justification for control.
