My in-laws are acting like it's all disappeared over night.

Travelling to london, going out for lunches and dinners in people's houses etc.

They're vaccinated now so I suppose they don't mind.

They've all but invited themselves around to ours in a couple of weeks time!

A good point made above that you will be able to go to all the shops and hairdressers etc that you fancy soon so it does seem a bit off that we aren't supposed to go in houses still. I won't be going in any shops other than maybe the garden centre next week but would love to be visiting family indoors. I am also back in the office with the public allowed in again on the 12th. I think if I know family are going in loads of shops etc however, I won't want to go in their houses.

saraclara · 05/04/2021 09:02

London has some of the lowest case numbers in the country. I hope they enjoyed themselves.

user1487194234 · 05/04/2021 09:04

People are voting with their feet and getting back to normal, which I think is great

millenialblush · 05/04/2021 09:05

When do you think the restrictions should end OP? Do you really think, now we are seeing 10 Covid related deaths a day (more RTA deaths than covid now, and remember these are deaths after 28 days of testing positive, so probably not even covid related), and the elderly and vulnerable are vaccinated, that we should still be in lockdown? We were told 'data, not dates' but it appears, once again, we were lied to.

washthem · 05/04/2021 09:06

I think I'm just worried about another lockdown! But I suppose that won't happen.

God who cares. People have been restricted from basic enjoyment of life for over a year, they're fed up.

gingganggooleywotsit · 05/04/2021 09:07

Don’t panic OP let them crack on! We’ve all been through a hard time, people deserve to let loose a little.

Surely if you were genuinely worried about another lockdown you'd be happy with people like your in laws enjoying themselves whilst they were able to?
TheKeatingFive · 05/04/2021 09:09

They’ve been vaccinated! The government are delusional if they think people who have been vaccinated are going to stay locked up forever

This.

BurbageBrook · 05/04/2021 09:10

For older people who won’t live for many more decades and who have been vaccinated, I completely understand this. It’s time for them to enjoy a little sliver of life, surely.

SueSaid · 05/04/2021 09:10

Loads of people seem to be seeing people indoors now. I wonder how many of us are sticking to 6 in the garden. I bet it's a low percentage.

Then people wonder why the road map is so slow. Government and their medical advisors must estimate that whatever is 'allowed' the majority exceed that massively. Give arseholes an inch and they take a mile.

DuckonaBike · 05/04/2021 09:12

It’s OK to travel in moderation (are they near London?) but meeting up with others still has to be outside. We don’t have enough people vaccinated yet for herd immunity. The rules are very clear that you can’t socialise inside.

So if they are having lunch in a friend’s garden, that’s fine. If they are doing it inside they are selfish irresponsible arses and you can tell them so from me.

CuthbertDibbleandGrubb · 05/04/2021 09:12

I suggest that if they are visiting other people's houses, they are not welcome in yours. Make that clear to them now, not at the last minute. I assume you have not had your vaccine OP, or perhaps not your second dose?

SmidgenofaPigeon · 05/04/2021 09:12

You don’t have to be ‘near’ London to travel to London for a day.

Shoxfordian · 05/04/2021 09:13

All of that is allowed presuming it’s outside

HugeAckmansWife · 05/04/2021 09:14

Why will there be another lockdown? This is not 'just like last summer' as a) vaccine b) standard Covid and SD procedures in place now C) gradual building up of natural immunity in those who have had it asymptomaticly or mildly. I've been teaching in school throughout, my kids have been in school throughout, we haven't caught it and only been aware of a tiny number of cases, all transmitted 'legally' through work. So no, I'm not going to restrict anything now that I am physically able to do, like going into someone's house or seeing slightly more than 6 people. And as soon as they open I'll be in pubs, restaurants, shops, museums etc.

EngTech · 05/04/2021 09:14

Just because they have had the jab does not mean they can’t catch or carry COVID 19.

As long as they follow the guidelines that is ok but if we get Lockdown 4, then listen to the rule breakers complain

JamesMiddletonsMarshmallows · 05/04/2021 09:14

People aren't arseholes for having 7 people rather than 6 in their garden Hmm

The only arseholes are the ones who refuse to look at the facts because it interferes with the busybody curtain twitcher status they've enjoyed comfortably for the last year.

Facts like the transmissions rates outdoors are negligible. When people descended on beaches and BLM protests took place, cases didn't soar as a result. We know this now - so why anyone gets het up to the point they are actually counting the number of people entering their neighbours' home, is beyond me.

Get a life and enjoy the sun

ineedaholidaynow · 05/04/2021 09:18

I assume when people go to the hairdressers and non-essential shops they will be wearing masks, SD where possible and not hugging and kissing anyone. That is why mixing households indoors is one of the last restrictions to go.

For all those happy for people to be breaking the rules are you happy for people to break non-COVID laws too eg speeding, theft. Or is it just COVID laws you don’t agree with.

SueSaid · 05/04/2021 09:20

'People aren't arseholes for having 7 people rather than 6 in their garden'

No, but the ones who have been having 7 people in their house for the last few weeks are

MeanderingGently · 05/04/2021 09:20

Travelling further distances is now allowed, so it's perfectly all right to go to London.
You can meet with people as well, although it should be out in the garden. Next week it will be shopping, hairdressers and so on... I doubt that people have forgotten COVID but we have to learn to live alongside it. No-one knows what will happen in the future but I doubt there will be another lockdown because vaccinated individuals are going to London, it's far more likely that a new variant will arrive from abroad for that to happen.

GoldenOmber · 05/04/2021 09:21

If they’ve been vaccinated they are very unlikely to catch it and spread it even if they’re exposed to it. Fine to roll your eyes if they’re inviting themselves round to yours, but realistically they’re not going to be responsible for causing another lockdown.

Very true.

Anyway, I want my child to see their grandparents so I'll suck it up.

Yup, me too, there are COVID ‘rulez’ that don’t make logical sense. Lots never have.
