Anyone else regretting their choice to get vaccinated?

onthetracks · 03/04/2021 09:27

I had my first vaccine 4 weeks ago (AZ)
I was really put off my having it and didn’t feel 100% happy, but since I’m clinically vulnerable to Covid and I also look after my elderly grandmother who is Clinically extremely l vulnerable, i thought it was the right thing to do.

Since having the vaccine I read no end of negative reports, side effects, blood clots and now deaths.

I’m terrified that I’m going to develop a blood clot and die.

I know this may sound irrational, which is surprising for me as I’m usually able to rationalise things.
But I can’t help feeling that it’s all been a bit rushed.
We’re all so desperate for normal life that we’ve jumped at the chance to be injected with something that we don’t actually know is safe.

Only now that millions of people are having the vaccine are we being alerted to adverse effects.

I’m really starting to regret that I’ve had the vaccine and I honestly don’t think I will go for my 2nd jab. 😣

onthetracks I think the confusion is that at 11:51am you said my first dose isn’t for another 8 weeks. Presumably you meant second dose?

Mistressinthetulips · 04/04/2021 19:07

@onthetracks

My first dose isn’t for another 8 weeks! Perhaps by then we will know more about the link between the vaccine and blood clots.
As a reminder
giggly · 04/04/2021 19:12

This kind of irrational hysteria does my fucking head in.
Don’t step out the door ffs you might get hit by a bus.

bumbleymummy · 04/04/2021 20:34

@giggly Are you from NI by any chance?

giggly · 04/04/2021 20:57

@bumbleymummy no I’m not. Hmm does my impatience around do I don’t I COVID vaccine that has clearly been cleared by NICE/WHO remind you of someone?

bumbleymummy · 04/04/2021 21:39

No, it was the ‘do my head in’ that reminded me of friends in NI Smile

Keepyourdistance000 · 04/04/2021 21:52

I've got my first jab this week and because of this thread am extremely anxious and considering not having it Sad

GoLightlyontheEarth · 04/04/2021 22:01

@Smartiepants79

All medications, vaccines, medical procedures, driving your car, climbing your own stairs, eating slightly out of date food, going swimming......... carry a certain level of risk. Please work on putting these anxieties into perspective. The chances of being seriously ill from COVID are pretty small, the chances of being seriously ill from the vaccine are infinitesimally tiny.
How do you know that?

You are more likely to develop a blood clot flying to Australia.

Stoic123 · 04/04/2021 22:24

No. Delighted I've had my first AZ shot and looking forward to getting my second.

I feel really blesssed and grateful that I am in this fortunate position.

Boringlynormal · 04/04/2021 22:26

Flying to Australia would not cause the type of blood clot that’s linked to this vaccine so it’s a false equivalence. Lots of things are riskier. But is Covid riskier? We don’t know yet as we don’t know if the condition is targeting specific people. Possibly Covid is less risky for those people. And is another vaccine safer? Quite possibly. That’s why we need to identify that group.

With respect @Keepyourdistance000 you really shouldn’t make important medical decisions based on a thread on Mumsnet.

I know that. I'm just fed up with all the scaremongering. Even my DB texted me to tell me I should think very carefully before having the vaccine. His wife (SIL) was extremely ill after hers for a day or two.

Threads like this are irresponsible imo and give the anti vaxxers opportunity to spread fear and misinformation.

Maybe Tina really IS a government bot Grin she's told me on another thread I'd be well advised to stop my anti vax rhetoric. Even.though I haven't posted anything anti vax and has threatened me with investigation by the relevant department Grin

She.was on another.thread which had similar stuff to this and it got deleted. I expect this will go the same way.

bumbleymummy · 05/04/2021 00:18

I hope MNHQ just delete ‘her’ post and allow discussion to continue. Kind of creepy though.

BonnieDundee · 05/04/2021 00:25

It's very strange. That thread has been heated all day and as soon as she posts that stuff the.whole thread gets deleted Hmm

bumbleymummy · 05/04/2021 00:28

I guess we’ll just have to watch and wait!

Boringlynormal · 05/04/2021 00:29

FWIW I was poorly for a couple of days after mine (fever, chills, eyeball ache etc) but that wouldn't stop me in the slightest from getting a second or getting any other vaccination. That is not the issue in the slightest and people tend to exaggerate illness massively anyway. The amount of people who have 'flu' is ridiculous. But - I don't think that the majority of people on this thread are 'scaremongering' and I think that's a lazy phrase that shuts down discussion. The entire governments of Canada, Germany and the Netherlands aren't scaremongering. They're responding to concerns for the safety of the vaccine in younger females. That's what I'm concerned about too.

Threads like this are irresponsible imo and give the anti vaxxers opportunity to spread fear and misinformation.

Mumsnet have already said anyone spreading misinformation will be banned. But do you genuinely think that people shouldn't be allowed to talk about vaccine side effects, including fatal ones, any worries they may have, or countries recommending that the vaccine isn't suitable for their age groups? And if it does later turn out that AZ is risky for women under 55 (incidentally, the main demographic of Mumsnet I expect), and discussion of the topic had been censored here, don't you think that would be really awful?

A FACT here is that if I lived in Germany, I wouldn't be allowed to get my second shot of AZ. So who's right - Germany or the UK? I think it's right and fair that we try to establish that.

Boringlynormal · 05/04/2021 00:30

@GovernmentBotTinaDepartment54

We need to remember, it is not just your health that needs to be protected but others who are vulnerable who can't take the vaccine.

It is also about protecting the NHS , if people potentially caught covid or a new strain it would overwhelm intensive care units meaning other diseases couldn't be treated.

ERROR.. code 637 repeat message on profiles 2-278 reminding of dangers though sections 2-6 and ban any poster constituting anti vax criteria
int x;
printf("%d", x);complex *p = NULL;
complex abs_p = sqrt (p->real p->real + p->im p->im);

To be fair, even the bit before the creepy error code sounds like a bot.
BonnieDundee · 05/04/2021 00:37

I look at it is that the risk of death from the vaccine is tiny and if the worst happens, you are saving lives by not spreading it so your life would save many others. I am religious and believe all actions in this life will have a reward in the next life anyway so it's win win !

Tbh Tina's isn't the only creepy sounding post on this thread Shock

AnotherSunrise · 05/04/2021 00:51

NO

Justdontbejudgy · 05/04/2021 01:22

I had the AZ one 3 weeks ago. I am intending to get my 2nd as I reckon being on the pill for nearly 20 years on and off, and two pregnancies were much more likely to give me a blood clot.

However about a week ago the pain returned to the injection site. It comes and goes and is never horrendous but pretty noticeable and occasionally uncomfortable. Don't really want to hassle my GP, as I expect there will be a few concerned re the blood clots etc. My Aunt has also had the same thing (she's early 60s, I'm late 30s) although her's sounds more painful.

Anyone else had this? I've read a few threads on here but can't see anything, I will confess I've not read the whole of this one as yet.....
