Are you logging your LFT negative results?

I posted something on the Daily Stats thread about people not logging their negative LFT results because that's what I'm hearing from my circle of acquaintance.

I'm not in the loop, really, as I have no school aged children and am not doing them through work, so wondered what anyone else was doing.

OP posts:

Yes, we have to for work but I would anyway. I record my child's too. It is a twice-weekly hassle but I want to see the % off all tests that are positive come down. They only way to do that is for everyone to report the negative ones.

@Bumpinthenight

First page after declaring that you are reporting for yourself.
If you'd done it, you'd see how to do it.

Just follow it through. You create an account, then sign in each time and report for someone else.

Hoppinggreen · 31/03/2021 08:50

I do DS and DD does her own, didn’t occur to me not to. We only have to tell school if it’s positive

zafferana · 31/03/2021 08:51

DS1 is supposed to (he's secondary age, so testing twice a week), but he didn't do it on Monday. I'm doing the school logging - very sensibly they sent that link to the parents, not the DC!

namesnamesnamesnames · 31/03/2021 08:51

@ZeroFuchsGiven

Ive never logged them, the school told us only to report positive and void results to them.
We have to report to gov and to school for each result whatever it is. Shame there's no 'system' UK wide. Would make more sense.
zafferana · 31/03/2021 08:52

Is there a minimum age for logging it yourself?

I think it's 13. DS1 is 13 and he CBA Hmm

Bumpinthenight · 31/03/2021 08:58

You can only create an account if you are reporting for yourself. You could report your DC by saying you are them and then set up an account for them that you can access.

StealthPolarBear · 31/03/2021 09:00

Does no one else have the 'student' problem

Ah ok, I think I'll give it a go. DC is nearly 16 and would not be able to report it herself, but i could sign her up for an account and pretend to be her?

Does no one else have the 'student' problem
Which is?
OldEvilOwl · 31/03/2021 10:17

Yes its a bit pointless otherwise isnt it?

hedgehogger1 · 31/03/2021 10:21

@needadvice54321

We are, but not sure if we're meant to do it a bit more "officially"? We simply fill in one of those Google forms for school
Yes you need to do it on the gov website too
NearlyAlwaysInsane · 31/03/2021 10:22

Not logging them.

DumplingsAndStew · 31/03/2021 10:31

@NearlyAlwaysInsane

Not logging them.
Why not?

I've said before on threads like this, I know in Scotland one of our criteria for relaxing restrictions is that they look for a certain percentage of positive tests (IIRC below 5% of tests should be positive). I'd think England likely have a similar thing they look at. By not reporting negatives, that can massively skew that figure.

SaberToothKitten · 31/03/2021 10:50

Nope, just reporting them back to school.
The logging link was like doing the census all over again, all those questions on ethnicity and age and postcode. Not doing that for three kids twice a week.

OddsNSodsBitsNBobs · 31/03/2021 10:52

Can we also remember that LFT are not compulsory.

Excilente · 31/03/2021 10:54

no, they're not compulsory. i log with the school to let them know, but not with the NHS.

IpreferInchyraBlue · 31/03/2021 10:55

Yes but I have to. Both my work and DDs school ask for results.

Rillington · 31/03/2021 11:15

@StealthPolarBear I just skip that question. There isn't an option for student as you say.

FenceSplinters · 31/03/2021 11:24

Pupils at my school have been told they don’t have to. They just have to let school know if it’s positive.
I was recording each of mine, and letting school know, but I’ve stopped logging it on the official website now. I just let school know I’ve done it.

LadyDanburysCane · 31/03/2021 11:27

I log mine, my DHs and my DSs twice a week!

People saying "I didn't know we had to" - the booklet that comes in my boxes of tests clearly state to report the test results.

Gizlotsmum · 31/03/2021 11:28

Yes

LadyDanburysCane · 31/03/2021 11:30

@PheasantPlucker1

Nope. Just cant be arsed is the honest answer!

The tests are also quite unreliable so I dont have much confidence in them, if I had symptoms Id still want a PCR test.

And if you have symptoms you SHOULD have a PCR test. The lateral flow tests are for NON symptomatic people and even then if you have a positive result you should have a PCR test to check.

Just click on the "continue without answering"....
YetAnotherWalk · 31/03/2021 13:23

The 50% of our household who are testing are logging each negative... in my mind if you don't, the number of tests go down and the number of positives go up which will lead people to think the rates of positives are going up.
