How’s everyone feeling about Happy Monday?

Wingingit15 · 29/03/2021 08:31

I’m not feeling all that happy actually and just feel will have to hide away more in a week or two when there has been so much mixing. Not saying that’s not right, just don’t feel confident at all particularly when schools
return post a fortnight of it!
I suspect it might be different if you’re vaccinated etc though.

@Souther

I dont really see such a big difference. It's just a something made up by the media to sell papers. There isnt really that much of a difference in the rules. I want to go to my families house not sit out in the cold.
This.

I don't see much difference either. My family live a fair distance away, close enough for a day visit, but if that day has to be spent outside, well, it just isn't warm enough or reliably dry enough to do that.

I was looking at the roadmap dates earlier (I've not paid much attention to it previously) and I could only get mildly excited by the changes on 12th April, and more excited by those on 17th May.

frozendaisy · 29/03/2021 10:00

Can't go indoor swimming.

Can't plan a see the world trip.

Can't stay overnight at family and friends.

But glad it's a mini step towards what we all want to do.

@MaxRiemelt

Infection levels are plummeting. If you've not had the vaccine then you're obviously not vulnerable. It's fine. You're over thinking the situation.
But infection levels are not plummeting. They have plateaued. This is to be expected with schools going back, but as a 45 year-old female parent of a school-aged child I do feel a bit like I'll be a sitting duck after Easter. For me, the risk of long covid is still quite a big worry. My main worry, probably. I know women my age seem to be particularly at risk. I worry about what will happen when schools go back after increased mixing over Easter. Also, locally so many of my friends the same age as me have now been invited for their jab, so I think a lot of local people will start to relax. DH and I have not yet been invited - not sure why - so I do actually feel a bit vulnerable at the moment.

Oh well, at least the weather is nice!

RingtheBells · 29/03/2021 10:02

Nothing planned today but booked to go to NT place tomorrow, its 35 miles away, looking forward to it and weather looking good

N4ish · 29/03/2021 10:05

Really no change for me as I'm not into outdoor swimming or golf! Everyone I know has already been meeting outdoors for playdates etc so can't see this having a big impact.

MaxRiemelt · 29/03/2021 10:10

@Wingingit15 why haven't you had the vaccine if you are medically vulnerable?

Remmy123 · 29/03/2021 10:12

It's great!

But I feel very sorry for those who are now conditioned into staying away from others / scared / worried etc

MaxRiemelt · 29/03/2021 10:12

I see you have diagnosed yourself as "medically vulnerable"Hmm

TokyoSushi · 29/03/2021 10:13

I'm not really bothered about this one, I've been seeing friends for walks etc so this one doesn't make a huge difference to me.

I'm looking forward to 12th April though for shops and hospitality.

MaxRiemelt · 29/03/2021 10:14

This is going to be a massive problem. Like the OP, many have blown their risk out of all proportion.
Buzzinwithbez · 29/03/2021 10:15

It's a minimal change, but I'm pleased for those who have plans for national trust places etc and sad for those who feel something as tiny as this is such a worry.

vodkaredbullgirl · 29/03/2021 10:18

Nothing has change, go to work come home. Still won't be seeing family as they are all spread out in the country.

Racoonworld · 29/03/2021 10:30

Very happy to be able to meet in groups again. I'm not scared of covid, had my first vaccine and just really excited for my baby to be able to meet everyone and actually socialise.

CuriouslyStardust · 29/03/2021 10:36

Indifferent. My Mum is still stuck abroad and we haven't seen her in over a year. I'm desperately sad at how much of my kids lives she's had to miss.

Everything is still closed and we have no family nearby. I might feel better if the 12th April plan comes together. I'm mostly looking forward to getting back to outdoor attractions and maybe even the odd shop.

I've had my jab and I already felt that life is inheritantly risky, so I'm going to get out there and live it (as the restrictions allow ofc!).

HolmeH · 29/03/2021 10:36

I am feeling great! I’m 33 with moderate asthma but I’m not remotely worried about covid. My consultant said asthmatics are not fairing any worse than non-asthmatics with covid unless on a significant dose of steroids.

No plans until the weekend but I’m seeing friends & family all weekend Grin and we are going to an Easter Egg hunt at a country park! Woop! And only two weeks until farms, zoos, indoor kids activities, outdoor lunches at cafes! Woop! Life is coming back Grin

HolmeH · 29/03/2021 10:37

Oo & shopping 😂 I’ve booked a day off on 12th to go to my nearest city! Hello Primark!

kittensarecute · 29/03/2021 10:39

I just want to get back to my theatre and singing and go out for a meal and actually be able to hug who I want. In fact I want all the restrictions gone. So today isn't a huge deal for me.

Chimeraforce · 29/03/2021 10:41

Well most ppl I know are working (not me, non working day) so getting pissed up won't happen here. I think this weekend will be the acid test tbh. We've already seen groups with cans/prosecco drinking outside their local in readiness for 12 April.
I'm still bitter about them not easing it for Easter and our holiday cottage being canx for 2 April.
I'm not feeling happy Monday. Won't be happy until I get my freedom back (all of it).

Vanillaradio · 29/03/2021 10:43

Nothing is really changing this week as we have work and school. However dh and I have annual leave next week so from the weekend onwards, we have booked 2 Easter Egg trails, are having my parents over for a bbq and also going to play mini golf. So quite excited!

roarfeckingroarr · 29/03/2021 10:43

Anyone who thinks that people haven't been meeting more than one other outside for weeks haven't been in London

VoyageInTheDark · 29/03/2021 10:45

Going to sit in my parents' garden this afternoon with DD. She's v excited to see her grandparents. Just a shame it's cloudy here

ihearttc · 29/03/2021 10:45

I have a very happy 10 year old this morning who has gone yo play an entire day of football after not playing for nearly 4 months.

Catsknees · 29/03/2021 10:46

I'd be happier about it if I hadn't been struck down with the sort of symptoms that require a covid test Confused

Otherwise relieved that things are slowly getting back to normal but indifferent as a personal point of view as some of my family live abroad and it's unlikely that I'll see any of them soon.

I go out to work and see people on a daily basis anyway so have not felt as isolated as many have, so I know I'm lucky.

DeadButDelicious · 29/03/2021 10:52

Quite pleased. Going out for a walk with DD and my parents later on. DD is so excited to see them after so long. We've all had our first jabs and this is the first step back to normality for us.

RhubarbCustardy · 29/03/2021 10:58

Worried that people who are already not sticking to the rules will just go further. Glad that it means children will be able to meet up with their mates over Easter holidays. Apart from that nothing will change for me. I'm not risking it.
