Just watching the 10 o clock news. Boris was being interviewed. He was playing with a baby at some school/community centre sort of thing. He stroked the baby's hand. How is that ok?! Anyone else see this?

What terrible thing do you think will heron?

PurpleDaisies · 25/03/2021 22:39

Happen.
Not heron.

Ohwhataprogramme · 25/03/2021 22:40

Awww sweet

Lottle · 25/03/2021 22:41

He's been enforcing social distancing. Not allowing grandparents to touch their own grandchildren. Yet it's ok for him to do that?

FFS!

I can't abide Boris but even I can't get worked up about this.

AnyFucker · 25/03/2021 22:43

Christ, get a life

MissMarks · 25/03/2021 22:43

At least it shows he has some level of kindness and interest in babies.

Plus social distancing rules don’t apply in nursery’s/ crèches if you read the government guidance.

grapewine · 25/03/2021 22:43

Really?

Lottle · 25/03/2021 22:44

Government website:

If you must leave your home:

-stay at least 2 metres away from people you do not live with or who are not in your support bubble
-reduce the time spent in crowded areas where it may be difficult to socially distance (such as shops and supermarkets)
-avoid direct contact and face to face contact with people you do not live with

Don't understand why the baby doesn't have the right to be 2m apart from Boris! I wouldn't be happy if he came and shook my hand!

Some perspective wouldn't go amiss.

tabulahrasa · 25/03/2021 22:45

Maybe it’s his...maybe that’s how his secret children are found out about...

Lottle · 25/03/2021 22:45

@MissMarks surely that's for staff not visitors?

OP posts:
PurpleDaisies · 25/03/2021 22:46

Presumably the baby’s parent was there to defend the child from this vicious attack?

I can’t stand Boris but really. This is bonkers.

userxx · 25/03/2021 22:48

Holy fuck, this has got to be a joke.

Lottle · 25/03/2021 22:48

you are encouraged to avoid visitors entering your premises, wherever possible. - govt website for childcare

So Boris can go shaking hands with people now?
:-S

OP, get a life. Seriously.

Lottle · 25/03/2021 22:52

ok, I'm in the minority clearly! I get it.

PurpleDaisies · 25/03/2021 22:52

You haven’t said what you think the risk is here.

ShutDown40 · 25/03/2021 22:52

Maybe the baby really really wanted to shake HIS hand, therefore the baby is at fault, not BoJo.

SquirtleSquad · 25/03/2021 22:53

Well I suppose 10pm is a little late for a baby to be awake but worse things happen at sea.

WonkyCactus · 25/03/2021 22:54

I doubt he did it deliberately! It's just an instinctive thing to do when you're playing with a baby, especially if you're used to being around babies for example if you've had an unspecified number of babies yourself.

Christ, I never thought I'd be on a thread defending Boris Johnson...!

bonfireheart · 25/03/2021 22:55

Imagine if they baby had said "daddy?"

Lottle · 25/03/2021 22:55

@PurpleDaisies well I guess there is always the covid risk. But more that this is the man that has been on the news telling us to keep our distance. Not touch the people we love. Don't let your kids have physical contact with grandparents. Don't shake hands etc. Strict definitions of bubbles and who is allowed hugs and physical contact. Then he does that on TV. I find it strange. Just as I would if he shook an adult's hand.

Get a grip!

Ha, same!
