I had a letter from GP, then made a app for 1st one. One the day, after the vax, I was given a card with app date for the 2nd.

SoWhyNot · 24/03/2021 19:16

I’ve been told to wait for my GO surgery to contact me about booking my second. I’m group six, so can’t book one of the hubs either.

Everythingiswonderful · 24/03/2021 19:16

Did they contact you for your first? If they contacted you for your first they will contact you for your second also.
Ours have only just finished the first doses and have starting to contact people for their second dose this week.

FleeingBlue · 24/03/2021 19:21

OH had first via GP text. No second appointment made at the time so last week went onto the national booking website and was able to book the second. Wasn't offered the same place but chose an AZ hub. Was a bit confused when it offered dates for 'first appointment' but then realised the date was exactly 11 weeks after his first and confirmation said second appointment.

Worth a try.

Shieldingending · 24/03/2021 19:28

My parents were contacted by gp hub when 2nd vaccine because available

PatriciaHolm · 24/03/2021 19:31

DP was told that he would be contacted by the GP again a maximum of 11 weeks after his first jab.

MadisonMontgomery · 24/03/2021 19:31

If you have your first through your GP, they will contact you when you can book your second.

RachelRoth · 24/03/2021 19:33

What if you had your first through the booking system?

VerityWibbleWobble · 24/03/2021 19:44

We've been told to expect a text, like we did with the first, shortly before it's due with a link to book the second jab.

UserEleventyNine · 24/03/2021 19:54

My mother was telephoned by her GP in early January and offered an appointment for her first. This week she was telephoned and offered an appointment for her second.

MadisonAvenue · 24/03/2021 22:51

I was told that I’d be contacted by my GP surgery 8-12 weeks after my first, on Saturday it’ll be 7 weeks.

Both of my parents are in the 80+ group, were vaccinated 10 weeks ago and are due their second Pfizer within the next 2 weeks but as of yet neither have been given a second appointment date. Our area haven’t yet started second jabs even though the lady coordinating the local GP hub posted on the Facebook group a few weeks ago saying that she was planning on holding clinics and calling people to come in after 11 weeks. Her response now to anyone asking when they’ll be happening has changed to “hopefully soon”.

BattlestarGelato · 24/03/2021 23:33

Select the 'Manage my appointments' option. It will know that the first dose has been given and ask you to book the second one.

ExpulsoCorona · 24/03/2021 23:51

GP here - your GP will contact you in the same way they contacted you for the first dose. We have just started inviting people who had their first doses in mid-January to have their second dose next week and the week after. Wherever you had your first dose will already have allocated your second dose to you but they'll need to really until they know exactly what is arriving and when before they can book.

Mindymomo · 25/03/2021 07:31

My DH had his through GP text, cannot book his second through NHS website, it just says wait to be contacted by GP.

PuzzledObserver · 25/03/2021 07:54

I had my first via GP 5 weeks ago. A few days ago I got a text saying my second dose has been reserved and they will send me a link to book 11 weeks after first jab.

fizzyp0p · 25/03/2021 08:07

They will contact you for second jab the same way they contacted you for the first. If you don't hear by about 10/11 weeks give them a call Smile

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/03/2021 08:50

Guidance states that you must receive your second vaccine from the same place as your first. This is to ensure that you have the same type of vaccine. So if you had it through a GP hub, as I did, we need to be patient and wait for the text.

I am getting antsy for mine though, had my first one 8 weeks ago. I would like to know when the next one will be.

Kitkat151 · 25/03/2021 08:53

You will need to get your second at go too

OhYouBadBadKitten · 25/03/2021 08:53

In saying what I've said Expulso is that exactly true? I'm quoting my GP surgery in what I've said. Would sad and terrible things happen if I did book through the national service for my second?

CappuccinoCounter · 25/03/2021 08:54

My GP website still says that they aren't allowed to give second doses, and haven't even given them to their own healthcare staff yet. They hope to start next week.

I hope they have enough Pfizer to do them. They had about 10 days worth of Pfizer in January, so those people will be coming up to second doses soon. There were a few more days at the end of Feb, but I presume those people will have to wait longer, unless perhaps there are unfilled slots with the days allocated for the January people, as they can't leave any unused (I hope!).

HazeyJaneII · 25/03/2021 08:59

I had to chase up my first, so will call GP surgery about second near to the 10/11 week mark.

Wakemeuuuup · 25/03/2021 09:26

I've just been able to book my 2nd jab through the national system for 11 weeks after 1st jab (10 weeks time). Thanks

orangetree99 · 25/03/2021 12:14

I had an end of day left over dose at my local pharmacy in February and was told to go in and book 2nd on the national system which I have done (at a different place) so hoping it will be ok.

ExpulsoCorona · 25/03/2021 19:25

@OhYouBadBadKitten

In saying what I've said Expulso is that exactly true? I'm quoting my GP surgery in what I've said. Would sad and terrible things happen if I did book through the national service for my second?
It's true for us @OhYouBadBadKitten. The people who we gave first doses to have been allocated their second doses. We are not allowed to book first doses into the clinics we have created for second doses. So if a significant number of people don't come back for their allocated second dose, I'm not quite sure how we prevent wastage.
CappuccinoCounter · 25/03/2021 20:47

Would you call people earlier for their second doses, if that happened?

My surgery had a whole group of Pfizer days when they started, about 10 days I think. Then a month later, they had 2 more days of Pfizer, and the rest was AZ. I wondered how they were going to do those extra 2 days, whether they'll just incorporate it into the clinics when they book all the earlier ones, or whether they will have just 2 days later on to do all the rest of them - in which case you won't case much, if any, choice of days or times to have them (which is OK, I can arrange work if needed, but they may not give much notice, which makes it harder). And if someone misses those 2 days, they're out of luck? Or might they just let them book in the earlier clinics, to make sure no doses get wasted.
