@duffeldaisy

Yes. And I do since the kids went back this time round.

The government should give a proper payment for people needing to isolate. It’s terrible that so many people are in the situation of having to go in, and so possibly infect other people.

I’ve worked in those kinds of jobs, so do really understand the pressure- if you want hours next week you just can’t take time off. I’ve never had so many colds and bugs as when I was working there, I think because we all had to keep going, as SSP wasn’t enough and there was always the threat of “more reliable” people getting the hours. (It was seasonal, so variable from week to week).

Anyone not in that position should care enough to have a test though. We need to get out of this.

How exactly will increasing testing get us out of this? More likely increased false positives will be used to delay unlocking. Where's the trade off? Will I get any more freedom if I comply? Masks certainly didn't work so why would I believe mass testing will? People will just say you can't trust a negative and nothing will change.

No .

TheVampiresWife · 22/03/2021 08:48

No.

Once the vulnerable (or indeed most adults) have been fully vaccinated, what would be the point?

islockdownoveryet · 22/03/2021 08:49

It’s 10 days now btw not 2 weeks as people keep saying .

duffeldaisy · 22/03/2021 08:49

Btw, false positives keep being mentioned- they’re extremely extremely rare. There are lots of false negatives - up to 40% depending on how well you manage to do the test. But false positives are, obviously, unlikely to happen - less than one person in every thousand.

duffeldaisy · 22/03/2021 08:52

It’ll help because even erring on the side of caution will stop it spreading while the vaccines catch up.

Only a couple of million people have had a second vaccine, and the over 40s are having to wait another month, so the more time we can buy and fewer lives we can lose, the better. But it does mean government support to achieve it.

Parentpower20 · 22/03/2021 08:52

We are eligible. Got the tests and do them from time to time not twice a week. For example I go into the office and work with a colleague every now and again. So before one of those days I test. But honestly I’m not testing my 4 year old twice a week.... if it was less invasive I absolutely would.

canigooutyet · 22/03/2021 08:56

For me saying no it's not about the enjoyment of lockdown but the waste of money testing. I've already had CV and still have a natural defence. The chances of me catching it again and spreading are low, but obviously I do keep an eye on re-infection cases.

applesandoranges221 · 22/03/2021 08:57

no.

tsmainsqueeze · 22/03/2021 08:57

@Sundances

Weird! people saying no - these must be all the people who are actually quite enjoying lock down.

Yes from me

There could be more pandemics, there could be more dangerous viruses.

No from me . I don't consider myself weird , have not enjoyed lockdown , have worked throughout , i have had the virus . But , i can't live on ssp , lots of people in same boat .
Mummyoflittledragon · 22/03/2021 08:58

No. Dh and dd can do it. I’m stuck at home so there would be no point. A waste of resources.

en0la · 22/03/2021 09:01

I'm not convinced the tests work, high school of 1300 and they all tested negative.

Inthevirtualwaitingroom · 22/03/2021 09:01

yes, i do, why wouldnt i?

Buzzinwithbez · 22/03/2021 09:07

I would if I was reassured that there are no or only safe residual levels of the gas used to sterilise them.

I'm self employed and can't afford the time off work. My business has already suffered massively due to COVID. I can't afford to close.

FourTeaFallOut · 22/03/2021 09:15

Yes. No problem.

lynsey91 · 22/03/2021 09:16

No. I had a test in February when both my parents died of covid. The one up my nose hurt (I have sinus problems) and the one down my throat made me heave and throw up. I found it awful.

I know if I did it myself I would not do it properly and I think many people are not doing them properly so pretty pointless

ComDummings · 22/03/2021 09:18

No

Donotfeedthebears · 22/03/2021 09:19

Nope.

tobee · 22/03/2021 09:19

You'd get a "no result" if you didn't do it properly. Not a negative. So that's not an issue.

Yes to the question

baroqueandblue · 22/03/2021 09:21

No, it feels too controlling. If I develop 'typical' symptoms I may get tested again, but I've got long covid and the tests have been useless to me so far. I barely go out and socially distance when I do. Enough already after a deeply miserable year with next to no support.

And there again, don't talk to me about 'typical' symptoms. It's a farce

Purplewithred · 22/03/2021 09:28

No

Done one box already, failed to pick up my asymptomatic covid the day before or the day after my positive PCR test. Dont know anyone in my trust who has a surprise positive that was confirmed by a PCR. I don’t trust them one bit.

FourTeaFallOut · 22/03/2021 09:33

But they capture the vast majority of those are likely to transmit the virus. Capturing someone who is asymptomatic and not likely to transmit is not going to have a marked effect on the spread within the population. It's not great for the individual but it serves a useful purpose for the community at large, which is what we need.

NO

AuntieStella · 22/03/2021 09:34

Yes

And I am doing because of my secondary age DC (though I did forget the midweek one last week, as the habit isn't fully ingrained yet)
