No.

My answer is yes by the way .

GalesThisMorning · 22/03/2021 08:26

Such a shame that the government hasn't enabled people to do asymptomatic tests without worrying about how they will afford to live for the next 2 weeks. If I had a positive test result I would seamlessly move to wfh. If I was too ill to work I would just tell work I was ill. My pay would be unaffected which makes it easy for me to be responsible and proactive.

If I was on a zero hour contract, which I have been in the past, I might not be as willing

UserTwice · 22/03/2021 08:26

Yes. I wfh so would be likely only to catch Covid from my DC. However, I figure that more testing is a good thing. Plus, I can't very well expect them to test twice a week and refuse to do it myself.

Beautiful3 · 22/03/2021 08:27

For those posters thinking people saying no, are werid. It's because some people dont get sick pay and having to isolate will mean getting into debt. My husbands bosses are arseholes and only brought hand sanitizers in last november, when they have been open throughout this whole pandemic!!

Waxonwaxoff0 · 22/03/2021 08:27

@Sundances

Weird! people saying no - these must be all the people who are actually quite enjoying lock down.

Yes from me

There could be more pandemics, there could be more dangerous viruses.

Wrong. I hate lockdown. But I can't afford periods of self isolation.
everybodysang · 22/03/2021 08:28

Yes.

BUT I am working from home and if I tested positive it wouldn't make a huge difference to my financial situation. I think it's shameful that there isn't a proper sick pay/isolation pay system in place. It's easy for me to say, oh yes, of course, why wouldn't you when my family can still eat and I can still pay the rent and bills. I've been in plenty of positions in the past where to isolate for two weeks would have been financially disastrous and I cannot see the point in shaming those who can't see any other way than to not test. We should shame the government into making sure nobody loses out by testing and then we can really, properly open up and boost our economy.

starfish4 · 22/03/2021 08:28

Yes, I already do.

I want everyone to get their lives back. Got to be worth trying, I'd rather be able to live my life most of the time with odd isolation rather than how we're living now. I'd also hate to find I'd spread it unnecessarily to elderly relatives, my friends, colleagues.

Racoonworld · 22/03/2021 08:28

Yes if it allows us to get back to normal. I would hope anyone would if this is the only way to end it!

Racoonworld · 22/03/2021 08:29

No if it’s as well as more lockdown.

Tal45 · 22/03/2021 08:29

No because we barely leave the house so likely to be a waste. DS who is at school does though.

Happyseahorse23 · 22/03/2021 08:30

Yes

Namenic · 22/03/2021 08:30

It depends if I had significant contact outside home. If I did (eg office), then yes. If it was a program to get numbers v low, then yes.

frumpety · 22/03/2021 08:33

Yes. Been doing it since January.

EstuaryBird · 22/03/2021 08:35

Yes.

But I’m retired so it’s easy for me, if my situation was different I probably wouldn’t do it.
It’s very quiet at my test location now so I don’t think many people are still bothering.

duffeldaisy · 22/03/2021 08:35

Yes. And I do since the kids went back this time round.

The government should give a proper payment for people needing to isolate. It’s terrible that so many people are in the situation of having to go in, and so possibly infect other people.

I’ve worked in those kinds of jobs, so do really understand the pressure- if you want hours next week you just can’t take time off. I’ve never had so many colds and bugs as when I was working there, I think because we all had to keep going, as SSP wasn’t enough and there was always the threat of “more reliable” people getting the hours. (It was seasonal, so variable from week to week).

Anyone not in that position should care enough to have a test though. We need to get out of this.

CrunchyCarrot · 22/03/2021 08:36

No.

BelleHathor · 22/03/2021 08:37

No

yikesanotherbooboo · 22/03/2021 08:37

Yes
I do anyway.

StormcloakNord · 22/03/2021 08:39

Nope. Couldn't afford/wouldn't want the inconvenience of being off for 2 weeks if I'd walked near someone who tested positive, or got a false positive etc.

Chloemol · 22/03/2021 08:40

Yes

megletsecond · 22/03/2021 08:41

Yes.

Already am. 2 dc's at secondary. Gag reflex is getting used to it now.

AppleBlueBerryPie · 22/03/2021 08:43

Yes because you realise you won't have much of a choice right?

Writing from Austria where they tried mass voluntary testing after Christmas and that failed miserably. Then lockdown "ended" but in order to use virtually any service (hair salons, beauty, massage, doctor appointments), you have to present a test that's less than 48 hours old. Restaurants have also opened in a small part of the country and every guest needs to show negative tests for entry.

Home tests & saliva tests are not accepted and it needs to be one of the government's official nose/swab test stations with a written proof of infection status.

To be fair the free testing infrastructure is surprisingly good with convenient locations spread throughout all major cities. There are also rarely waiting times though you have to book your slot in advance. Vaccine status does not count for anything yet so I get tested once a week despite being fully vaccinated.

sleepwouldbenice · 22/03/2021 08:44

Yes have already started doing so as family of school kids

CoffeeWithCheese · 22/03/2021 08:44

No. Funny how one side are judgemental and bullying toward the other.

Will test with symptoms. Will not be testing when not. My body, my choice and my consent is not being given.

ssd · 22/03/2021 08:45

No, I don't think they are very accurate
