My completely uneventful AZ jab

Had this last week. Didn't feel a thing (tiniest needle ever) and apart from a slightly sore arm for a couple of days nothing. I'm not exactly the type to eat just veges and not drink but then I never get the flu either. A complete non event for anyone that wants to hear that precisely nothing happened. Can't wait to not even notice the 2nd one too!

To me the vaccination felt pretty much like a standard injection, the 'sharp scratch' discomfort but over in a second.
No side effects other than a slightly sore arm for a day or two.
IME the covid test was far more invasive and unpleasant.

Wilkolampshade · 18/03/2021 08:06

Yes, nothing eventful for me too.
Although I did blub on the way out as am a bit of a prat. Wink

IrishMamaMia · 18/03/2021 08:14

Same. Slightly achey and shivery that night but I did have Covid previously and it is it a standard side effect. Went really well, hope our second dose doesn't get delayed.

picklemewalnuts · 18/03/2021 08:15

Same here, though I have a weird underlying condition and was a little worried. DH with no underlying condition tossed and turned all night, hot and cold etc. He treated himself to a single paracetamol in the middle of the night. And continued to toss and turn! So I'm a little fatigued this morning, but chances are it's lack of sleep rather than the jab!

HappydaysArehere · 18/03/2021 08:54

My dd is having it today and she is really excited. Her dh had it a couple of weeks ago and there were no side effects. Everyone I know who has had the AZ has had either no problems or they have felt hot and sweaty, etc for 24 hours. We had our second Pfizer jab yesterday and I felt as if we were in the middle of a miracle created by brilliant people. Apparently Israel had a problem with low take ups of the vaccine but when the population realised they needed to prove vaccination to fully resume their lives the numbers shot up. Michael Ball was on the tv yesterday saying you had an absolute right not to be vaccinated but on the other hand owners of restaurants, pubs, cruise ships etc etc had the right to protect their businesses by demanding their customers are vaccinated. I couldn’t agree more. Of course if there is a real reason why someone can’t have it then there must be exemptions. But they should be based on medical evidence.

Mintychocolate · 18/03/2021 10:08

@HappydaysArehere I could have written this! The day I got my text to book I was so excited!!! Thrilled to be there. Got my sticker! Did a little jump of joy on the way out!! Now my friends are getting/have had them and I can hardly wait to see them all again properly. Not walking in some freezing park but in a heated pub garden! With proper cocktails - which it turns out are extremely difficult to make at home. And nice gastro pub food. And holidays! Oh how I long for holidays even if I can't fit a bikini.

Sticker, you say? Pah. I feel like I missed out, now!

Mintychocolate · 18/03/2021 12:39

She asked. I said yes Grin And a very nice sticker it is too. Almost could be made into a badge of anyone remembers those badges we used to wear as kids (I had the Jam). Next time you go in be upfront that unless you're getting a sticker you're walking!
Well ok maybe not

Nice one! I’m feeling v rough after mine yesterday but still over the moon to have had the jab.

Haenow · 18/03/2021 14:40

Mine, too, was uneventful. I did get a free pen!

murasaki · 18/03/2021 15:00

Pen envy. Mine was today, just put my sticker on my phone case!

I can't work out if my arm is sore or whether I'm over thinking it, but otherwise it was all fine, even for a needle hater.

likeamillpond · 18/03/2021 15:06

Can you all say roughly what ages you are?
E.g. 40s 50s 60s or 70s.
Would be interesting to see if it IS mainly older people who are likely to have non events.
Owing to having less efficient immune systems apparently.
I'm not sure how true that is.

yearinyearout · 18/03/2021 15:08

My DH had his yesterday. He felt fine this morning, went off for a run and by lunchtime had taken to his bed clutching his dressing gown of doom. Glad yours was uneventful, hoping mine will be the same.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 18/03/2021 15:36

Dh (54) had his. Slightly sore arm but no fluey symptoms or temperature. Most uninteresting.

Bordois · 18/03/2021 15:48

I stubbed my toe and got a hang nail all within days of my AZ jab.

Coincidence, I think not! Angry

Mintychocolate · 18/03/2021 17:02

@likeamillpond Im mid 50s. But I've never had the flu and regularly shove toxins into myself with few ill effects. I doubt my immune system is 'less efficient' even though I'm old. 😂.

As I have never ever had the flu and rarely get any form of sickness despite the fact that I haven't swapped my social life for crochet and other pursuits old people do.

SabrinaTheMiddleAgedBitch · 18/03/2021 18:40

Had mine at 11:30 this morning, feeling okay so far. Very much hoping my dressing gown of doom doesnt make an appearence Grin

HappydaysArehere · 18/03/2021 18:46

@Mintychocolate well done. Also can’t wait to get together with friends and family. Just waiting until we get the green light.
For those interested I am 79, DH 81.
Dd 56
Son in law 62
Neighbours and acquaintances around sixty +
Friend’s daughter forties but she is vulnerable.
Her daughter (probably a mistake) 19 but she went and felt off colour for about a day. Her dm had a headache for about 4 days and felt tired.

Walksallday · 18/03/2021 18:58

44 year old here - had my jab yesterday at 9:30. Felt fine all day yesterday.
Felt a bit achey and tired this morning but some paracetamol did the trick. Tiredness disappeared around lunchtime too, so it was all very mild. No pain in my arm whatsoever.

Mintychocolate · 18/03/2021 20:15

At my pharmacists both had a 24 hour mild flu. One would be mid 30s, one 50s. Both Asian as I'm not sure if there is any link between race and how sick people get. His older brother died from it right at the beginning which was enormously sad. Especially as there were people on here banging on about not wearing masks, it wasnt dangerous etc.

Now I'm vaccinated though I don't give a damn if people want to be stupid! Not my circus not my monkeys 😁

Babyroobs · 18/03/2021 20:21

I am 24 hours from getting it and feel awful. Pounding headache all day, muscles really painful even my feet hurt and back and shoulders. Feeling shivery also. Straight after I had it I felt sick and dizzy.

TomBarbara · 18/03/2021 20:26

I had it at 3 today. No symptoms yet. It was strange as it didn't feel at all like when I usually have an injection. I barely felt it, it was like a tiny scratch. I didnt look so was unsure if she'd actually done it. A friend said this happens when they are very quick and skilled at giving an injection. She did look experienced. She looked pleased when I said I barely felt it

TSSDNCOP · 18/03/2021 20:27

I had mine yesterday and wish I had started taking paracetamol as the nice man suggested. Woke up at 3 with a banging head and feeling shivery. Took the para then but it was too late. I’m 51.

Umbivalent · 18/03/2021 20:28

DH is 54, had no side effects at all.
PurpleWh1teGreen · 18/03/2021 20:28

To give some context about side effects, I read today that out of vaccinated NHS staff in our area, 7% missed a days work due to illness.
