Pfizer second jab side effects

PutTheCakeDOWN · 03/03/2021 07:22

I had my second jab yesterday. No side effects except sore arm after the first.
About ten hours after I had it a had a very sudden attack of extreme nausea and diarrhoea. I wasn’t actually sick but was dry heaving for ages. Chills and feeling a bit light headed. A few hours later it went.

Has anyone else experienced this??

You could log it via the Yellow card scheme?

I haven't had the second jab yet, but following this thread as I've heard the second one with Pfizer tends to have more side effects. I only had a heavy weird feeling in my arm after the first.

PutTheCakeDOWN · 03/03/2021 08:27

Yes I’ve heard that trickling down too, but I don’t know many people who’ve had the second one yet.

I’ll keep bumping :)

That's interesting but I don't think there's be many posters who are onto the 2nd jab yet, I saw yesterday that it's under 2% of the pop are at that stage yet versus nearly 40% who've had the first one

Lindy2 · 03/03/2021 08:31

My mum is having her second Pfizer jab tomorrow. She had basically no reaction to the first so I wonder what will happen with the second.

raviolidreaming · 03/03/2021 09:05

I was the other way round: nothing but a sore arm after my second Pfizer jab.

QueenStromba · 03/03/2021 09:05

I'm really not looking forward to my second jab, I felt really awful for a couple of days after the first.

raviolidreaming · 03/03/2021 09:12

QueenStromba - I honestly had nothing but a sore arm after my second dose. A pharmacist gave it and said if you've had a strong reaction first time then you're likely to be okay second time, as your body will recognise it.

I didn’t realise so few had had the second jab. It’ll be interesting to see what happens.

I feel fine now! Just a bit tired :)

I was poorly after my first pfizer, nausea and headaches for about 6 days. I've been staying my 2nd next week

User594022452 · 04/03/2021 07:20

Hi! We don't live in the UK so we know quite a number of people who've already had both Pfizer shots. The majority had very minimal side effects, myself and DH included. However there was one who had the similar symptoms as you.. Started vomiting the day after the shot and it lasted 24-36 hours. She was out of commission for 3 days and only able to work on the 4th.

I feel the side effects seem to mimic actual covid symptoms, with many having headache/fever/chills but a minority only get gastro problems. We heard from a hospitalised acquaintance that 5-10% of covid cases only present as nausea & diarrhoea so that doesn't seem too far off as a vaccine side effect.

I had nausea plus chills and aching the day after but that went quickly. After the first and second dose I had numbness in my hands - especially my thumbs. Going to yellow card it. Not worrying. Just interesting.

teenagetantrums · 04/03/2021 08:45

I had my second one yesterday. Was tired last night but feel fine today.

Hobbesmanc · 04/03/2021 13:51

Ive had my second Pfizer. Almost exactly 24 hours after I had a wave of extreme fatigue and a pounding headache. But it passed really quickly. Maybe an hour or so

zzzaaaccc1 · 04/03/2021 18:07

Had my 2nd vaccine pfizer yesterday only sore arm after 1st had a headache but none this time.

Musicaltheatremum · 04/03/2021 18:22

I had 2nd Pfizer along with about 7 of my colleagues and staff. All felt terrible the next day. We will stagger any boosters or give them on Fridays so we are not all off ill again.

Universallyhappy · 04/03/2021 18:31

The method used by the Pfizer would correlate well with your experience. It means this time your immune system is reacting more (because it has the information to do so from the first vaccine dose). It’s a good sign.

Haffiana · 04/03/2021 18:56

My relative was completely floored by the first jab - in bed for 2 days, 2 more days feeling ill after that. Second jab merely had a sore arm.

WombatChocolate · 04/03/2021 19:20

I’ve read in several places, that if you’re going to get effects, Oxford tends to be after first dose and Pfizer after 2nd.

I had Pfizer for first jab (long time until second) but a good idea to book it for end of week, just in case.

loretta81 · 04/03/2021 19:32

My first Pfizer dose gave me nausea/upset stomach. Not particularly looking forward to the second!

UKhun · 04/03/2021 22:14

Second dose tonight! I've got a really busy day at work tomorrow so I really hope I'm not poorly Sad

I had no side effects after the first except a slightly sore arm.

UKhun · 05/03/2021 20:03

And 24 hours later I'm feeling pretty terrible, aching bones everywhere!

Lindy2 · 05/03/2021 22:34

Oh dear UKhun

I hope you feel better in the morning. My mum had her second Pfizer yesterday and so far, feels ok. She's in her 80s though and I think it tends to be younger people that react more.

WendyJames35 · 05/03/2021 22:41

1st Pfizer-sore arm and nothing else.
2nd jab, sore arm, very slightly achy all over and nauseous. Lasted just 24 hrs.

purplebiscuits · 05/03/2021 22:45

Twilightstarbright · 05/03/2021 22:45

1st Pfizer dose I felt dreadful after- fever, chills, aches, stomach cramps, headaches. Passed 48-72 hours later.
2nd dose a month later and a sore arm and more fatigued than usual but able to go about my day.
