Labour or Conservative?

The Coronavirus threads often have posters trying to score political points so I thought if you cannot beat them join them.

If there was an election now who would win?

OP posts:
MoroSun · 02/03/2021 23:36

Conservative

StarCat2020 · 02/03/2021 23:38

Do you have any other choices at all?

Myalternate · 03/03/2021 00:36

No political party would put themselves forward.

MrsTerryPratchett · 03/03/2021 01:29

Rich people. Regardless of who is running the government.

feelingverylazytoday · 03/03/2021 01:45

Conservatives.

GiveMeNovocain · 03/03/2021 03:26

Conservative

MRex · 03/03/2021 06:51

There are some elections soon enough. 6th May for the Scottish Parliament and London Mayor. Maybe others too on the same date?

I don't think the Conservatives will win the Scottish elections, funny though that would be. I do think SNP support will reduce significantly, but I don't know all the constituency percentages and who people swap votes to well enough to understand what that will do to MSP numbers.

Capital76 · 03/03/2021 06:52

Conservative

PracticingPerson · 03/03/2021 06:54

Opinion polls indicate a Conservative victory currently. Don't think this is a matter for debate really.

Tories because people are,cor have been, one or more of the following
A) Misled by the press which is very heavily weighted by the right wing and people find it hard to see how biased the papers are.
B) self serving and earn above average and want to protect their wealth
C) Have bought into the idea that even if they are poorly paid the economy is is better under Tories (even if they personally are not)
D) Anti-imigration / anti-single mothers / anti-people on benefits (press have done their job well) and labour would be soft on these.
E) Believe we should be led by private school boys (to be fair this could be either party)
F,) Despite years of being treated badly by the Tories like the status quo
G) think though he has made mistakes Boris has done better than the others would

JustTurtlesAllTheWayDown · 03/03/2021 07:09

Conservatives would win even though they've made a right mess, because Labour and the rest of them are in such a sorry state that there isnt any real opposition.

User133847 · 03/03/2021 07:14

Conservative of course.

Why would anybody vote labour?

hamper555 · 03/03/2021 07:17

Conservative. Cannot imagine what state we would be in if Labour had been running the country through the pandemic

herecomesthsun · 03/03/2021 07:22

probably neither, might vote lib dem

MrsBrunch · 03/03/2021 07:27

Labour don't like women so, Conservative.

110APiccadilly · 03/03/2021 07:30

Wales have elections in May (assuming they go ahead). I reckon Labour will win, as they always do. They might lose their majority and have to go into coalition with Plaid though.

UmteenthUser · 03/03/2021 07:32

Conservatives

RigaBalsam · 03/03/2021 07:33

Why would any vote Tory? Have you not looked at the pig's ear of this pandemic. Wow! Serco anyone.
sashagabadon · 03/03/2021 07:33

The polls say Tory

RigaBalsam · 03/03/2021 07:36

@hamper555

Conservative. Cannot imagine what state we would be in if Labour had been running the country through the pandemic
I imagine track and Trace would be better and the care home scandal may not have happened and maybe Marcus Rashford would not have to get involved for a start.
Robieuni · 03/03/2021 07:37

The Conservatives would win.
I’m not sure I could vote Tory.
However, Labour gives off the impression they would be on TV waffling on about identity politics and squabbling with each other while the world burned around them.

Lanique · 03/03/2021 07:37

Even though the Tories have done a remarkable job at ballsing up the first year of their new term, the so far successful rollout of the vaccination programme will redeem them. So the Tories will win.

Lanique · 03/03/2021 07:38

*would win, I should say.

msmandolin · 03/03/2021 07:48

I'd add one thing to this list. Labour currently has a worrying zero covid movement in its membership, which I believe to be an unnattainable goal, one that will cause much more harm than good. For me, lockdowns have been useful this year before we had a covid vaccine. Now we are vaccinating people at a rate of knots, we need to be releasing the restrictions (of course in a safe and sensible way) Labour has shown themselves to be more authoritarian in the past few months than I am comfortable with, and the libertarian streak of the conservatives (though I don't approve of austerity and cutting back welfare sources) will allow me to leave my one bedroom flat and find a source of income long before labour deign to allow me to do so. For that reason, despite being a lifelong lefty, if there was a snap general election today, I'd vote Tory (whilst holding my nose and gritting my teeth)
