Oxford Vaccine

I had the vaccine on Saturday. 12 hours later, I got a fever of 39.2. This morning I had a slight temperature which went after taking paracetamol. Every since this afternoon, I've been feeling nauseous & light headed.

Those of you that have had this vaccine, how long does it last? Did you get the awful side effects?

Its making me not want to get the 2nd vaccine to be honest 😣

But it's much better than having Covid, surely? I think I read that the side effects aren't so bad for the second dose for the Oxford/AZ jab. On the bright side, it means your immune system is kicking in.

Moonstone1234 · 01/03/2021 20:38

Feeling a bit sick and having a bit of a headache is really not a reason to refuse the second vaccine in the middle of the worse pandemic we have ever seen!

AgnesNaismith · 01/03/2021 20:40

Normal, lasted 24 hours and was a bit gross...but well worth it not to die.

Suggestions are the second dose will come with less side effects for those who had strong immune responses (you and me) and that an immune response is a good thing. The second time round your immune system may recognise and neutralise very quickly.

Congratulations on getting the vaccine!

3littlewords · 01/03/2021 20:42

Apart from a slightly dead arm had no other side effects

Moonstone1234 · 01/03/2021 20:42

I had the AZ and yes felt wiped out and headachy but for 24 hours.

Honestly what are people expecting!

HmmmHmmmm · 01/03/2021 20:49

Sorry, I didn't mean to sound ungrateful. Obviously I am, I just don't cope well when I'm feeling unwell.

Just for the record, I have had Covid and yes it was worse.

Spanish Flu? The Black Death?

I'm in no way a Covid denier but we have had far worse pandemics in history.

If you've had Covid already you will have worse side effects than someone who hasn't. I had no real side effects from the Oxford vaccine apart from a sore arm and being very very hungry all day the next day!
HmmmHmmmm · 01/03/2021 21:06

@CeibaTree I didn't know that. That's useful to know.

Don’t worry OP, I had massive regrets the night of the vaccine and took paracetamol every 4 hours for 2 days afterwards. You’re allowed to feel sorry for yourself! Try to treat yourself if you can...bed, Netflix, original lucozade and salt and vinegar crisps for a day and a half worked for me!

lbrc84 · 01/03/2021 21:10

I had mine on Thurs afternoon. Felt awful all through the night and on Friday with chills, headache and feeling sick. Since Saturday I have just had really achy arm and shoulder and still feeling nauseous. Hoping I will start to feel better soon 😕

48 hours followed by another 24 hours to fully recover

Oh no. Sorry you've been feeling rough for that long. Hopefully you're back to normal tomorrow. 🤗

I had full blown flu symptoms. I was expecting to be poorly but not really ill

Moonstone1234 · 01/03/2021 21:17

Do they still sell original lucozade with the cellophane wrapping?

That brings back memories

RoseMartha · 01/03/2021 21:20

A week on and I still have side effects. Had various side effects from sore arm to the chills and shivering. Also still on going itchy rash over about 80% of my body which the doctors have confirmed is a side effect. The itching is driving me nuts and that is with taking medication.

maddy68 · 01/03/2021 21:24

I had it on Friday. Fine that night and Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon. Shivers , hot , cold , headache and nausea. Similat but less severe Sunday. Fine today of a little hitter than usual

CurbsideProphet · 01/03/2021 21:31

I had mine Friday. I was up half the night with severe chills / shakes, spent Saturday lying down with a migraine, and still have a terrible headache now. Arm and shoulder feel like I've been repeatedly punched.

I haven't really told anyone IRL as I don't want to sound ungrateful.

AgnesNaismith · 01/03/2021 21:40

@Moonstone1234 yes they do Grin DH knows it’s the only one for poorly Agnes so we have a stash!

So it seems like lots of people are reporting the same side effects. I'm glad to hear its normal.

No, sadly not. It's got sweeteners in it now as well so it's another drink ruined
Moonstone1234 · 01/03/2021 21:49

I was allowed in when poorly. What was in it?

AgnesNaismith · 01/03/2021 21:49

Is it different @PinkSparklyPussyCat I can’t say I’ve noticed...may be the placebo affect of the orange yellow wrapper!
